Exodus 31:15- Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest...

To most Christians, the 4th Commandment really isn't important any more. Throw that one out, but the remaining 9 still stand? What does the Word of God have to say about this?
James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
And before you say it's the Old Testament Law read this:
Luke 6:46
And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
“Jesus said he did not come to cancel the laws of the prophets but to fulfill them!"
The Bible says in Exodus that the Sabbath is perpetual. That means even in the new Millennium and forever, it is observed as being HOLY unto God!
The 7th day which you know as SATURDAY. THAT'S THE DAY! Was it changed later in the New Testament? NO! Since it is still a sin to murder, steal and committ adultry, doesn't it stand to reason that it is also a sin to NOT keep the Sabbath holy on the day you have been told to keep it holy?

...get wisdom:and with all thy getting get understanding'(Prov 4:7).

Understanding is what you need.We are in the new testament and in a new season. The sabbath today is a season,a dispensation.Everyday today is sabbath. It is not about sunday or saturday.Everyday is holy for the Christian, his sabbath is everyday!

Colosians 2:16-17
16 So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths. 17 For these rules are only shadows of the reality yet to come. And Christ himself is that reality.

Matthew 12:8
8 For the Son of Man is Lord, even over the Sabbath!

Sabbath means rest just as God rested on the 7th day from all his labours.
Jesus is the only One who can give rest and that is why He said:

Matthew 11:28
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest

Further on we see:
Hebrews 4:1-8
God’s promise of entering his rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to experience it. 2 For this good news—that God has prepared this rest—has been announced to us just as it was to them. But it did them no good because they didn’t share the faith of those who listened to God . 3 FOR ONLY WE WHO BELIEVE CAN ENTER HIS REST . As for the others, God said,

“In my anger I took an oath:
‘They will never enter my place of rest,’”

even though this rest has been ready since he made the world. 4 We know it is ready because of the place in the Scriptures where it mentions the seventh day: “On the seventh day God rested from all his work.” 5 But in the other passage God said, “They will never enter my place of rest."

6 So God’s rest is there for people to enter, but those who first heard this good news failed to enter because they disobeyed God. 7 So GOD SET ANOTHER TIME FOR ENTERING HIS REST, and that time is TODAY. God announced this through David much later in the words already quoted:

“Today when you hear his voice,
don’t harden your hearts.”

8 Now if Joshua had succeeded in giving them this rest, God would not have spoken about another day of rest still to come. 9 So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God. 10 FOR ALL WHO HAVE ENTERED INTO GOD' REST HAVE RESTED FROM THEIR LABOURS, JUST AS GOD DID AFTER CREATING THE WORLD. 11 So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall.

The true sabbath is shown in verse 10. All those who have faith in Jesus have entered His rest because they have rested from all their labours and allowed Jesus take Lordship and will and do His pleasure in their lives.

Conclusion:
Romans 14:5-6a
In the same way, some think one day is more holy than another day, while others think every day is alike. You should each be fully convinced that whichever day you choose is acceptable. 6 Those who worship the Lord on a special day do it to HONOUR him.

Whatsoever you do, let it be to the glory of the Lord.

Answer this to know if you really know what you are saying.
This should help you as you search the Bible to learn how to be like Jesus and "do those things that are pleasing in His sight" even as you keep the Sabath holy just as He did while He walked the earth. 1 John 3:22
*The Sabbath is a day to cease our creating, working with the creation, and appreciate what God has done in the world and is doing in us. Genesis 2:2.
*The Sabbath is a time to lay our burdens down and rest. We should not do any servile work on the Sabbath. This includes our entire family, even our servants and beasts of burden and strangers who live among us. Jeremiah 17; Exodus 20:8-11 and Deuteronomy 5:12-15.
*The Sabbath is an holy convocation. We should meet and worship with others. Leviticus 23
*We should be reverent and show God that we love, honor, and respect His authority. Psalm 89:7, Habakkuk 2:20
*The Sabbath should be a day of delight and rejoicing, a day which we forsake our thoughts and words for God's thoughts and words. Isaiah 56, 58
*The Sabbath is a time of healing. Matthew 12, Mark 1, 3, Luke 13, 14
*We are not to buy or sell on the Sabbath.Nehemiah 13
*The Sabbath is a time to do good and visit and comfort the sick. We should do spiritual work on the Sabath, serving others. John 5
*The Sabbath is a time of prayer. Acts 16:13
*The Sabbath is a time to reason with others about spiritual principles, and for ministers to teach the word of God. Acts 17:2, 18:4, 11
*Elaborate food preparation is to be done on the day before the Sabbath so that there is no baking or heavycooking on the Sabbath. Exodus 16
*The Sabbath is a time for Singing. Ephesians 5:19-20, Colossians 3:16, Psalms 92 is called the "Sabbath Psalm".

Be sure to see the scope of the Bible’s teaching on a particular topic. Do not build your understanding on one obscure text. If you want to truly understand what the Bible says on a particular topic, study that topic from Genesis to Revelation. Let the Holy Spirit speak to your mind throughout the teachings of Scripture.
Ask yourself, Where is the weight of evidence on this topic? What do the majority of passages teach? Never let something which is not as clear to you, overshadow what is clear. If there is a text you do not understand, let the plain passages in the Bible explain it. Do not disregard texts and passages of
Scripture which are abundantly plain in order to cling to something that is not as clear, simply to defend a doctrine you have previously been taught.
Approach the Bible with an open mind, willing to do whatever Christ asks you ( John 7:17).
This passage, Colossians 2:16 , 17 , is one of the most misunderstood passages in the Bible. One principle of Bible interpretation is that you do not allow what may be somewhat unclear to keep you from doing what you understand. The Bible teaching on the Sabbath is plain. It was given at Creation ( Genesis 2:1–3 ). Jesus observed it ( Luke 4:16 ). Paul observed it ( Acts 13:42–44 ), and it will be observed in heaven ( Isaiah 66:22 , 23 ). The Bible mentions two kinds of sabbaths: the seventh-day Sabbath and the yearly sabbaths. The seventh-day Sabbath, instituted at Creation and part of the Ten Commandment law, is a weekly reminder of the loving, all-powerful Creator.
The yearly sabbath relates specifically to the history of Israel. Colossians 2:16 , 17 specifically states, “Let no one judge you . . . regarding . . . sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come.” Hebrews 10:1 connects the law of shadows with animal sacrifice. Ezekiel 45:17 uses the exact same expressions in the exact same order as Colossians 2:16 , 17 , and connects it all with the ceremonial systems of feasts and sacrifices (meat offerings, drink offerings, feasts, new moons, and sabbaths, to make reconciliation for the house of Israel.
Colosians 2:14 is one of the verses used by many fellow Christians saying that the law was nailed to the cross but we have to be critical here, which law? Keep in mind that sabbath means rest.
*There are two laws talked about in the Bible, this you should know. The ten commandment law was written with God's hand and was put inside the ark of the covenant:"And He [God] gave Moses...two tables of stone, written with the finger of God."- Exodus 31:18...Note Paul say"handwriting of ordinances" and God just used a finger. And Paul talks about sabbath[rest] days which are in a law part with new moons, meat, drinks etc..Question: Does the moral law,ten commandments, have any thing to do with meat, drink etc? NO! And the Sabbath day is part of the ten. Fellow Christians, Paul here is not talking about the moral law but another law...
Which one? Remember Paul in the verse say "handwriting of ordinances" which law is that? it is written;"And he[Moses} took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people"- Exodus 24:7 So further about this book it says,"...When Moses had made an end of WRITING the words of this law in a book...that Moses commanded the Levites...take this BOOK OF THE LAW, and PUT IT IN THE SIDE OF THE ARK OF THE COVENANT."- Deuteronomy 31:24-26. See? this law is the one which Paul is talking about, it was not put inside the ark with the moral law, but at the side of the ark. This law was the ones which had to do with holy festivals which are rest[sabbath] days, festivals such as found in Leviticus 23. They had to do with drinks etc which they pointed to Christ, a shadow of things to come. This law is what we call the ceremonial law,it was the one nailed to the cross, not the ten commandments which contained the Sabbath day. It is of worthy notice to know that as Christ was talking about last days events he said;"But pray ye that your flight be not in winter, neither on the SABBATH DAY"-Matthew 24:20, did Christ acknowledge the sabbath? absolutely. And He shows that his people will be keeping the sabbath in the last days. Saturday is the 7th day, the sabbath of the Lord. Christ say,"And he said to them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: therefore the Son of man is the Lord also of the sabbath."-Mark 2:27,28, he doesn't say the sabbath was for the Jews only, but made for all.
What about Romans 14:5 ? “One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind". Really, what difference does a day make?
Sometimes it’s helpful to carefully notice what a Bible text does not say, as well as what it does say. Verses 5 and 6 say nothing about the worship of the Sabbath. They simply talk about regarding a day. To say this particular day is the Sabbath, is an unwarranted assumption. Romans 14:1 sets the tone for the entire passage, indicating that the discussion focuses on “doubtful disputations", or disputes on doubtful matters. Is the seventh-day Sabbath set apart by God at Creation ( Genesis 2:1–3 ), placed within the heart of the moral law ( Exodus 20:8–11 ), a doubtful matter?
Certainly not! The key to our passage is found in Romans 14:6 , which states, “He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks". The issue revolved around fast days, not Sabbath days. Some Jewish Christians believed there was particular merit in fasting on certain days. They judged others by their own standards. The Pharisees fasted at least twice a week and boasted about it ( Luke 18:12 ). In Romans 14, Paul is pointing out that to fast or not to fast on a certain day is a matter of individual conscience, not a matter of God’s command.

^^^^^^^The scriptures are valid enough and explain what is needful through the holy spirit.

While you still look at Sabbath (Rest) as a single day, Sabbath is actually continuous. What you posted above proved that we should chose a day to do good, visit the sick, think good thoughts. Meanwhile the REAL sabbath is doing good ALWAYS. All the good things you mentioned about the Sabbath is to be done as a way of life 24/7. So you see my post is not something to misunderstand.

There's no where it's stated in the Scripture that we should do good only on Sabath. The Ten commandment is clear on this. Keep the 9 Commandments 24/7, but the 4th commandment is once in a week. It must kept holy by dedicating it to God. Nothing can change the fact that Saturday is the Sabath, not Sunday. We should live everyday of our lives doing good, but there can only be only one Sabath day according to the Scripture.

^^^ You are holding on to scriptures of the old testament like the Pharisees without seeking revelation knowledge.
There is a reason why Jesus came and it was to bring us into a new dispensation.Unlike in the old testament where they had a day for Sabbath, for the Christian, every living day is his sabbath.

If you don't understand this,I pray CHRIST be formed in you.
Guess you are an adventist.......indoctrination is more important to you than revelation.

This's not about the Old or the New covenant. How did the coming of Jesus Christ change the fact that we must obey the 10 commandments? The grace we enjoy through Jesus Christ is the only difference between the old and the new covenant. Last time I checked, the Bible says in Malachi 3:6 that God never changes and in Psalm 119:89, that His word is settled forever. Or are we talking about another God here? Where did you get the inspiration or revelation that everyday is now the Sabath for christians?

Paul teaches that Christians are saved not by faith, but by grace through faith. Faith is the hand that takes the salvation freely offered by Jesus. Faith does not lead to disobedience but to obedience. Paul states in no uncertain terms, “Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid” ( Romans 3:31, ). Romans 6:1 , 14 , 15 adds, “Shall we continue in sin [breaking the law], that grace may abound? . . . God forbid".
Jesus Christ kept the sabath. And after His death the apostles always keep the sabath as evident in the Bible, so what dispensation unknown to Christ and the apostles are we talking about?

The issue now is not even about everyday being the sabath for christians, it's about we been made to believe that Sunday is the day.
I know you'll think I'm an Adventistgrin. I'm not and I can't see myself becoming one. I go to church on sunday, but Saturday is most special of all days to me in obedience to the reality in the Word of God.
Peace.smiley

The Sabbath is a day to rest and it must be dedicated to Yahweh.

That is what we as Sabbath Observers or Jews do. We don't do work on Sabbath day, instead we worship Yahweh.

Let me as you this, and i am not criticizing anyone.
If you go on worship on a sunday, you still come back and do you normal work like washing, ironing, cooking, cleaning etc, Yahweh do not want that, you need to prepare for Sabbath day during to week so that you don't have to do that on Sabbath day.

Stay bless

I dedicate my sabath- Friday sundown-Saturday sundown- to God. Worshipping on sunday is a plus to me. Just like any other day of the week.
