sparkymummy:Yes!!! The difference is that they are ONLY required to wear it to church They are NOT required to wear it to the market, shops, hospitals So their wearing it is an EXCEPTION for only a few hours a day As for the Hijab, wearing it is the NORM - school, market, bus, hospital, park etc They are required to wear it at all times outside the home Let me ask this, is there a place where women are not required to wear underwear? 2 Likes |

Blakyclyde:And your entire post is a lie So when a 12yr old says I have paid my school fees, she is lying? Of course she is being financed by her parents in both cases Banning Hijab is long in coming? and that disrupts more than preaching in buses, eateries etc? Nigerian Christians are just pushing and pushing 1 Like |

ayinba1: It's a public school where all Nigerians with different religions and believes attend. One of the religions cannot impose or have upper hand in the school in order to avoid disunity. This is what others are trying to make muslims understand, but I don't know why you guys are so bent on imposing it on public schools. There is no way this move will not bring in trouble a peaceful society. Shall we because of religion and start fighting each other? That is a question you should reflect on. It's a common sense. Since the ban of broadcasting of miracle on our local TV channels, have you see Christians challenging the ban? Instead, we should advocate for the removal of any trace of religion in our public schools, and not try to add to it. Don't try to attach it with freedom of religion. In the sense that your question can be valid regarding if there is freedom of religion in Nigeria is when the Lagos state government completely bans the use of Hijab all over the state. If you think the public school is not good enough because of its restrictions and it contradicts your religious belief, please take your child to an islamic school. If you think First Bank contradicts your religious belief because of the way it is run, take your money to an Islamic bank. 9 Likes |

I am not disputing that u weren't created by God. Come 2 think of it, if you can refer to the person dat gave birth to you as a father, then how will u call yourself bfor someone that created you. Am just of the opinion that d context using slave to describe your relationship with God will deprive you of wot a son/ daugher recieves from his/her father. BetaThings: 2 Likes |

mrofficial:I am trying to understand your reasoning. Why do you want to remove all traces of religion in schools? Do you believe in God? If yes, do you take a break from believing in God when you are at school? Now if you say you do not believe in God, the rules for you are totally different. The muslims are not asking that non muslims wear hijab. The simple request is that a muslim should be free to wear hijab if she choses to. This is another attempt to deny the girl child an education. It is a wrong decision in a society that claims to support freedom of religion. And please stop this argument of "take your kids to a private Islamic school". Public schools are funded with everyone's money (muslim, non muslim, pagan). Try to remove sentiments, one should be free to exercise his/her religious obligation. The hijab does you no harm. Live and let live. 7 Likes 3 Shares |

mrofficial:So why did the FG use public money to put up a NATIONAL Christmas Tree? Do you remember the excuses when we said we wanted Islamic Banking to be owned by private people And nobody is imposing. Imposition is what you are doing when you are saying I should no longer obey my God mrofficial: So Britain is not a peaceful society? Yet they allow Hijab The common sense is that you object to anything that does not have a Christian counterpart Hijab and Ialamic banking are clear examples Why would anyone running a Christian university claim that Islamic Banking will islamise the nation mrofficial:So Christians should stop doing church service in public school on Fridays? mrofficial:You mean I can practise my religion but I cannot do an essential element of it This is like saying one can perform salat but cannot do ablution Eg If a Christian is not allowed to go to church but can do service at home, it is not infringement of religious rights. Right? 1 Like |

BetaThings:Oooh I see!!! My argument was based in the topic at hand. Sorry about that. I'm not a christian neither am I a muslim so I am indifferent and also neutral here. I think what you Muslims should do is to find a way to make sure the Hijab being worn is the same colour as the school uniform. There is a reason it's being called "School uniform". |

sparkymummy:I just asked. I did not want to use words that are peculiar here The idea is that there is a part of her attire that she is required to wear at all time because you guys are beginning to give the impression that she can take anything she likes off So the Hijab is like that underwear that the Christian ladies cannot take off Oh, yes it is a sign of Islam that Christians don't want to se But they will have to put up with it Afterall it is not everything you guys do that I consider to be cool But I live with it 1 Like |

sparkymummy: The above suggestion is not a bad idea. But the problem here is that the use of the hijab was banned. They did not ask that the students color match it with the uniform (this would actually be warmly accepted); they asked that the students should not use it. This is an infringement on the student's right to comply with their religious obligation. 1 Like |

sparkymummy:No problem I am convinced that wearing the Hijab is compulsory But Christians insist that our girls should take it off And I wonder why Hijab can be any colour - it should just cover what we want it to cover Christians argue that Muslims are intolerant But when you observe things, it is the Christians that are most intolerant and they come up with arguments that annoy because they are so silly They object to anything that MUslims want But Muslims don't care about what they get Yet they can write nice and very moving speeches about some ideals of mankind Most of it is deceptive Just read the arguments here Note that we go to work on Fridays but they don't on Sat (7the Dy Adventist) and Sun They will never remember that we could have insisted on not going to work on Fridays 1 Like |

There are so many things to charge the government with eg. Proper library, seasoned teacher in all subjects, conduicive environment that aid learning, installation of first aid and sick bay, provision of school bus for official school activities, proper funding of inter_school competition among others. But they f!ngered the govt from religion aspect. |

ayinba1: You see, this is a world filled with different people with different rationales. You can't get all you want in this life, you have to compromise. We have to come to a term that will please everyone. And that is what the muslims find difficult to understand. Now if you say you do not believe in God, the rules for you are totally different. I'm a Christian and will never let religion becloud my sense of reasoning. The muslims are not asking that non muslims wear hijab. The simple request is that a muslim should be free to wear hijab if she choses to. Deny girl child an education? That's not logical. Muslims can wear Hijab after school hours. The point is, you refused to look at it from other perspectives. It is a wrong decision in a society that claims to support freedom of religion. It'll be wrong if only the public school did not have uniform. And please stop this argument of "take your kids to a private Islamic school". Public schools are funded with everyone's money (muslim, non muslim, pagan). Try to remove sentiments, one should be free to exercise his/her religious obligation. The hijab does you no harm. This is the reason why the muslims should stop agitating wearing of Hijab to school funded by every religion. I don't think broadcasting of miracles on our Local TV channels does any harm, yet it was banned. Once you apply common sense and put religion aside, you will understand. 5 Likes 1 Share |

BetaThings: So the government did not use NATIONAL money to celebrate Sallah for the muslims? That is where you should come to understand that Nigeria is not for only the muslims. So Britain is not a peaceful society? You cannot compare Britain with Nigeria. Let's leave that aside.
Can you point to any school in Nigeria that bears "Christian University" or "Christian Bank" in Nigeria? This is why I keep saying common sense. Just so you know, in 2011, I was to vote for Ribadu, but couldn't because I lost my voter's card. And the forth coming presidential election, I will be voting for Buhari. You can as well go through my previous posts. 1 Like |
