Sagamu Residents Cry Out Over Bad Roads. by PhockPhockMan: 1:54am On Oct 20, 2014
The people of Sagamu in Sagamu Local Government area of Ogun State have called on both the federal and state governments to fix the internal and federal roads in the town which are now in deplorable state.

They made this call on Friday under the aegis of Sagamu Development Association, as the group prepares to host this year’s Sagamu Day.

Speaking for the people, the president of SDA, Otunba Olumuyiwa Sonuga, said almost all the internal roads in the town were in a deplorable state, causing untold hardship to residents and motorists.

He also said Oba Awolesi Road, which is the federal road linking Mosinmi to Sagamu-Ore Expressway, had failed in many sections, making it almost impassable.

He said, “All the internal roads in Sagamu are in a sorry state, and movement around the town by motorists is with a lot of pain and stress. The roads are not only filled with potholes but craters.

“The only internal road that is good is the one constructed about 30 years ago. And that road is Ewusi Road. That road endured because it was well constructed.

“The federal road which passes through the town is the Oba Awolesi Road, which leads to Ikorodu, Lagos State and links Sagamu- Ore Expressway, is also in a sorry state. All that we do from time to time is to carry out palliative repairs by getting rubbles to fill failed portions, but each time it rains, the rubbles are washed away.

“That is why we are calling on both the federal and state governments to help us fix all these roads, given the strategic location of Sagamu.”

Sonuga, who said the SDA would be celebrating the 30th edition of Sagamu Day later this month, also urged the Federal Government to construct a flyover on the entry and exit point into Sagamu on the Sagamu-Ore Expressway to curtail accidents and deaths, which occurred almost on a daily basis there.

Sonuga, who was flanked by the Chairman, Planning Committee, Sagamu Day celebration, Otunba Bamgbola Adesanya, said the town had promoted ethnic harmony as all ethnic groups lived in peace.

He said, “Sagamu has continued to experience peace because the indigenes are accommodating. We have all ethnic groups here -the Hausa, Ibo, Ijaw, Bini among others. And we all live in peace.”

Sonuga, who said the SDA was committed to the development of the town, explained that prominent Nigerians would grace the Sagamu Day celebration including the president, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, Govenor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba Michael Sonariwo, president Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote among others.

This is a state under a party whose only manifesto is to capture the presidency either by hook or crook. While States under them rotting away, they're busy contesting the presidential seat of FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF INTERNET.

so unfortunate.

Lagos West senatorial district which includes Sagamu and Epe (where former Gov of Lagos State, Late Otedola hails from) is not considered by Tinubu and Fashola as part of Lagos.

If you want to see deciet, just drive to the so called Lagos Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) after Ibeju-Lekki, and see how poor and backwards the villages and communities around LFTZ are. You will weep. Along the way you will pass Tinubu's Jin Hua door and stainless steel railings completely knocked down (CKD) assembly plant. It is opposite Amen Housing Estate on a colonial two-lane road re-built by Sir Michael Otedola when he was LASG governor. This Jin Hua business, just like his Oriental Hotel near the 1st toll plaza on Lekki Expressway is fronted for Tinubu by Chinese.

Since Otedola left office, Lagos West has seen no meaningful development.

You are nothing but a despicable fool. 70 percent of the road in Sagamu was in bad condition before Amosun came to power. He has already rehabilitated over 40 percent of those roads. And he is still doing more. The federal road in Sagamu has not been rehabilitated since your satanic PDP came on board. You lousy good for nothing monkey.

Pls stop spreading falsehood. I know Sagamu inside out. Oba Erinwole road was repaired by Gbenga Daniel during his administration in Ogun State with much fanfare. Collected refund from the FGN. After billions went down the drain, that road lasted 4 months. It is a federal road and APC is to blame for that.

Please talk about things you have authority over and not sentiments

You don't even know simple lagos geography
Shagamu is in Ijebu ogun state while Epe is Lagos.

The LFTZ is located at AKODO , while Jin Hua is on Eleko road off Epe express road.
