And he's from a minority tribe? grin

Fashola is a great administrator. However, he needs to tone down on the extreme capitalism tendencies. An egalitarian society has to be able to create a balance, and equality for all the people.

Anyway, has he compensated those he stole lands from? grin
Exactly the type we want out.
Lagos can be livable for rich and poor alike without pandering to the lawlessness /disorderliness of the average.
This fact is given further bite by simply comparing the serene Egun fishing settlements in badagry to the slum called makoko

I had a petit book, I dedicate it to Fashola. Never mind that his men (KAI) has earlier treated me like a common criminal put in a black maria twice and slept in their detention lol, while hustling to make the book possible. Kudos to Baba Fash, no bad blood. He has lived part of his dream on what he will do if he ever become Lagos state governor. Sometimes, wishful thinking can become real, think big and influence your world. Eko Oni Baje o.

Lagos can be anything but capitalist, expecially with the continued influx of people from other states, it cant work

Not alluding to that. There are just certain capitalistic tendencies I've noticed. And there has to be a balance.

Creating two cities in one - one for the extremely rich and another for the extremely poor - won't stop the influx of people. It will just create two faces: face for the rich, and a next one for the poor in the slums.

Anyway, the man needs to compensate and relocate those indigent folks he stole hectares of lands from.

. It's not an irony at all. I support good people and reasoning when I see one. I am PDPPower but if Fashola contest against Jonathan I'll still support Fashola cos he deserves to lead this country now

Fantastic !

If we could all put partisan sentiments aside like the poster above, Nigeria still has hope.
But I would be very sad indeed if Fashola is best Lagos State will ever have. That's what this thread is sounding like.

Fashola has tried, for a man of his religious, ethnic and professional background he has really done most of what I will consider the right thing.

But there are nonetheless serious lapses in his style of administration.

I look forward to a governor better, a whole lot better than Fashola. Whether APC or PDP produce such really isn't an issue.

Anyway, just to clear the air and not send wrong signals to certain heads that I hate Fashola. I have got nothing but all the love and respect in the world for the guy.

However, the excessive pseudo-privatisation drive in the country (which Fashola is also guilty of), and some of his anti-people's policies especially in relation to the indigenes have to be questioned. It is obvious the average Nigerian doesn't understand what privatisation drive should be about. And in capitalist countries that thrive on private investments - they create a balance with social welfare to keep the people happy. And to bridge the gap. But with Nigeria, it is all about selling all the country's assets and making life unbearable for the disadvantaged folks, without giving them anything back in return. Evidently, you just have to question the purpose of having a government and what the sovereign national wealth of the country, from crude oil and other foreign exchange goods/exports go. Are they just looting everything? So, Fashola has to show he doesn't belong in the same pathetic pilfering school of thought as these clueless folks. Something I'm yet to see.

Also, Boris Johnson is the last guy you want to be compared with. This guy hates the poor, and he is brazen about it. This is the same guy that's bringing back some policies of 19th century London, where class divides thrived - something Charles Dickens wrote extensively about. There are new buildings in London today, with one entrance for the poor, and a next one for the rich. Heck, Boris failed IQ test on radio. He needs to distance himself from Boris.

And if at all he wants to be compared to anyone - Tony Blair before the Iraq war is a good one.

With the recent holier than thou attitude being put forward by Gov Fashola, It has become pertinent that we remind ourselves what manner of man he has been in the past 7.5 years.

1. It is on record that Tinubu is one of the most corrupt individual this country ever produced who went on an accumulation spree of every viable state asset. However, I wonder how a 'non corrupt' Fashola can seamlessly work with an extremely corrupt Tinubu for 8yrs without friction while they both accumulate all state assets to their personal names. Two cannot work together except they agree. It seems Tinubu accumulated more state resources under Fashola's tenure than his own tenure. One can categorically conclude that Fashola is either more corrupt than Tinubu or just a plain dummy/ foot soilder

2. There is still no justification to installing toll plazas on existing roads. The Lekki- Epe expressway that serves the fastest developing area of lagos state should have received fair and untolled attention but out of the dirtiness of heart of the corrupt duo of Fashola/ Tinubu.... it was tolled to their own company. When the masses trooped out to protest against it, Fashola's touts were unleashed on them even to the extent of death of a protester. If every state governor tolls roads which is a basic necessity like Fashola did..... ours would have been a mortgaged country

3. Till date, Fashola have refused to open up the state books to the public consistent with the Freedom of information bill adopted at the federal level. He has consistently and categorically refused to be accountable. For the records, LASG with monthly IGR and allocation of 29B and 19B respectively have managed approximately 4.5trillion in 7.5yrs. Unaccountability is the hallmark of irresponsible leadership.

4. How on earth can a sane governor deport non-indigenes within same country at the wee hours of the morning and dump them under a bridge. Every Nigerian indigene has the right to live in an part of the geographical location called Nigeria without a visa. It is also on record that this inhumane act have been carried out by just on governor in our history. .. which is Fashola. This act currently ranks as the highest breach of human rights in Nigeria.

 5. Fashola adamantly approved a 1000% increase in the school fees rates for LASU students without any corresponding increase in wage rates. It took wide spread protest and unending strikes that forced the govt to its knee. This is the record increase of school fees in Nigeria and ranks the height of insensitivity

6. Lagos roads are repaired at 2billion/ km by the crony companies of Fashola/ Tinubu. Better roads are built allover the country at lesser rates. Height of lootocracy

The ease at which he criticizes the central govt without acknowledging any single achievement by same govt makes him a mere opposition figure who stands for nothing but mere propaganda.

Now I ask..... What are the highlights of Fashola's govt?Lagos was a federal capital and Tinubu's govt was the height of hopelessness and such any any road repaired receives lots of hype. What key achievement would Fashola be remembered for?

I don't agree with everything Fashola does but I will happily call him my President. I know he will make a better leader than GEJ but I will not in my quest for Fashola accept a President Buhari and VP Fashola.

That will amount to the proverbial "voice of Jacob but hand of essau!"

The reality is GEJ will win 2015 election no matter who APC field! APC have not done enough homework to defeat an incumbent party or President!

I hope Fashola collects Senate form and be the voice of the opposition from the Senate.

Nigeria needs an issue based opposition leader who can take on the Presidency, policy-by-policy.

In 2019 when there is no incumbent President seeking re-election, that's the best opportunity to try to defeat PDP!

APC should field a candidate that will surpass Fashola's achievement, anything short will mean they are not a serious party.
