B.Sc Microbiology doesn't make one a microbiologist. It means you studied Microbiology. It takes getting @ least a PhD in Microbiology for one to call oneself a Microbiologist (so I was told by one Prof in an interview I attended with my M.Sc Microbiology certificate).

Yes!

Infact, I'd advise you to choose a school that offers pure and industrial chemistry.

I'm a final year student of Microbiology currently working on my Medical Microbiology project topic.
Medical and Industrial Microbiology tops the list. Last year I did my SIWES programme at a hospital in PH city and boy! it sure did open my eyes.
Med. Microbiology is at par with Pharmacy and Medicine when it comes to employment opportunities or self-employment. And we are accorded nearly as much respect as medicine student though.
By the way, even medicine students sometimes end up majoring in medical microbiology. I nearly chose biochemistry, I'm glad I didn't.

Hello brother,in which school do u study?

That's a lie!

If ind. Chemistry job is scarce then BCH and MB jobs are scarcer.

It all depends on what you want to be in life. I always wanted to be a lecturer (mission accomplished), so I could have studied any course provided I continue to at least PhD (which I did). If you want to work in the hospital/lab then go for SLT/MCB/BCH + NISLT. If you want to be in the industrial sector then Chemistry is better. But if you have people in high places then study any course, you can get any job. All things being equal professional courses are better (BCH/MCB r not professional courses) but u can always take certificate courses to professionalize. Get additional certificate(s), beside 1st degree and u'll always have advantage over others (all things being equal).

Chemistry is better than MCB and BCH while MCB is better than BCH but you can go for BCH if you really wanted medicine but couldn't get it.

Microbilogy is better. You have a lot of options after graduation, food microbilogy is one very applicable branch of mcb at least in Naija. In mcb you work with things that you can see and touch. Studying Bch in Naija is simply wack, it is simply that a "CRAMMING TRAINING", and it is like that in almost all schools. It is so stressful and it is not worth the wahala. In Nigeria, a microbiologist can do everything that a biochemist can do; but a biochemist cannot do all a microbiologist can do. I am a Biochemist.
Sir please stop deceiving yourself. A microbiologist cannot do everything a biochemist can do. Also BCH is richer than MCB.

What is MCH? A professional course is a course you can practice when you graduate like law, medicine, medical lab, physiotherapy, optometry, dentistry, teaching (NCE, BEd), Engr, Journalism (Mass Com), Theater arts, pharmacy, nursing etc On graduation, you get the license to practice. Like I said before after 1st degree one can always go for professional trainings /certificate courses with that one can practice any course these days.

i know BCH is richer than MCB but talking about job opportunity i think i will give to MCB because nigeria have not get to the level of practicalizing BCH for now
