barcanista:Am not beating about the bush and since we are out to educate our people, it is better we educate them wholistically, the remote and immediate causes, loopholes and how it was/could be blocked. Please, endeavor to answer my questions as it has a lot to do with our current discourse. 3 Likes 1 Share |

omenka:You are right. The Problem is that those people may mislead others. Sometimes I begin to ask why President Obasanjo forced NOI to leave his cabinet in 2006 |
Re: mODIFIED by warrior01: 12:31pm On Nov 11, 2014 |
Like I stated earlier on, Barcanista, I would like to know your stand on subsidy removal. Secondly, how was the availability of petroleum products during Obasanjo's era? Apart from lagos and a few states how much was the real price out there? Thirdly, even if the official price was #65, was it readily available? Did the unavailability of petroleum products affected our economy and general output during the said era. Lastly, did the trend continue under Yaradua's government? Please, let us be civil in this discourse so that we will all know where our problems started from and how we can all solve it. 3 Likes |

anonimi:Oga, this discourse is far more than your knowledge. Having perused your comments, all I can say is that you are only reading a script. Your assertions lack facts and corroborations. Barcanista has done justice by providing you facts with link to the source, yet, you are here ranting and reading script. 1 Like |

This thread constitutes obfuscated analysis where the critical elements of the intended debate are missing and neglected while the integral variables are subjected to test without recourse to the constants such as following: 1. Who is responsible for appropriation 2. The price of crude at any point in time 3. Population with regards to spending power. 4. Expansion of Industries that are still dependent on Fuel based Generating Sets. 5. The advent of Minimum wage that increased Nigerians spending power. 6. The astronomical increase in number of Cars, Keke Napep, etc in recent years 7. Etc. This thread will require a rejoinder to correct this play on independent Nigerians intelligence. On the theme of this thread I will conclude by referring Nairalanders to a famous quote by Senate President on one of the Finance committee's submissions on Petroleum products matters being deliberated on the floor of the senate at a time and I quote “If we sit here now and said remove subsidy, I think those who are benefitting from subsidy are very powerful and tomorrow they would influence media report and twist it to create an impression that the Senate is anti-people,” President of the Senate said in his remarks after the Senate had rejected the proposal for subsidy removal. The Executive Government wants to end subsidy and its related corruption matters but ......................... (fill the gap) 5 Likes 1 Share |

Re: mODIFIED by Nobody: 1:35pm On Nov 11, 2014 |
Ngwakwe:Ngwakwe you should consider retiring from Politics section. That someone like you will hold this view is pathetic. You guys keep talkking cabals cabals, "Who are these Cabals"? Are they not the same Jonathanians? You are indeed a funny guy. You mean people started owning cars and Keke after the death of Umaru Musa Yar Adua? Are you saying that Nigeria's Population trippled between 2009 and 2011? In case you didn't read, the Subsidy Bill was following the same pattern until Mr. Jonathan came onboard and SHOOT it from 670 billion in 2010 to N2.1 trillion in 2011. I don't know why the Cabals only showed up when Jonathan came to power. As for the removal of Subsidy, This is ridiculous. The Money will still be given to the same people for enjoyment as they have been looting the rest. Guy even at Partial removal, our subsidy bills still stand at N1 trillion Naira which is strange as it wasn't so under the Obj and Yar Adua Administration of combined 11 Years. Please retire from Politics section and move this to FP. 2 Likes |

barcanista: I gave you a famous quote by the Senate President during a plenary for you digest and you still come up with "you people" "you people" Please I don't discuss deceptive gossips with no academic value other than to manipulate public opinion. If I may ask, are you really proud of the analysis you put forward in this thread? You should do reasonable research on these subjects before opening any other related topic to allow intellectuals to debate on them without this unreasonable political undertone and dimension you dived into. If the NASS approves continuation of subsidy and appropriates 4 trillion Naira or whatever for it after budget defence, don't you think it's unwise to blame Mr President for spending it? Moreover, NNPC as an agency of Federal Government managing the fund is backed by law having derive its overbearing powers from the Constitution and Acts of National Assembly. Who is required to amend the constitution and these laws filled with intentional loopholes meant for corrupt practices? Stop deceiving the gullible 6 Likes |

Ngwakwe:Your input is as worthless as the quote. You should do reasonable research on these subjects before opening any other related topic to allow intellectuals to debate on them without this unreasonable political undertone and dimension you dived into.We are talking of Fiscal Policy of Government that affects EVERYBODY and you are talking Politics. In fact, I am talking of Fraudulent Fiscal Policy of Jonathan led Administration. If the NASS approves continuation of subsidy and appropriates 4 trillion Naira or whatever for it after budget defence, don't you think it's unwise to blame Mr President for spending it?The NASS does NOT determine the Fiscal Policy of the Government. Theirs is is evaluate and approve the Budget. Most times, the NASS are willing tools because of their own selfish gain. Is it not the same NAS that are enjoying 25% of our budget allocation? The Fiscal Policy lies in the hands of the Executives. Beside, the House of Reps passed a resolution that the fuel price be reversed to N65/litre in 2012 but the FG responded by saying that the resolution was mere advisory. Moreover, NNPC as an agency of Federal Government managing the fund is backed by law having derive its overbearing powers from the Constitution and Acts of National Assembly.Nobody is arguing the legality of NNPC. This is totally Off Point Who is required to amend the constitution and these laws filled with intentional loopholes meant for corrupt practices? What concerns constitutional amendment with Fiscal Policy of the Executive? Guy you don't even understand this subsidy issue Stop deceiving the gullibleHow does your off-topic justify or explain the MAGICAL subsidy fund? More: Mr. Ngwakwe what you wrote is nowhere a justification of the abnormal rise and rise in the subsidy appropriation. You need to face topic and stop going off. 2 Likes |
Re: mODIFIED by miiraaj: 2:20pm On Nov 11, 2014 |
Ngwakwe: I like your use of words but unfortunately your comment lacks substance. You will do well to tell us the reason behind the over 400% increase in subsidy within a period of 1 year and why it still remains at about 1 trillion even after the partial removal. Trying so hard to defend this scandal will do lots of harm to your reputation. 1 Like |

barcanista: You just indicted yourself, the Fuel subsidy regime is not the brainchild of Goodluck Jonathan's administration and moreover he has done everything within its powers to stop the policy without success. I recall that this administration's attempt to stop the corruption galore prevalent in this policy brought its approval rating and acceptability to all time low. Now, how do you judge these two heads of different organs of Federal Government GeJ - remove the subsidy and end the corresponding corrupt practices. Tambuwal - continue the subsidy and forward any excess spending to NASS as supplementary budget? Stop blaming GEJ for a policy imposed on him by the National Assembly and the masses. 2 Likes |
