I am not surprised at the kind of response this thread has generated( so little). It only points to the kind of attitude nigerians show towards teaching. Everybody has this pipe dream of working in an oil coy or bank or multinational. I work in an international school and i must tell you that the op is not exaggerating. My take home is over 200k monthly and i have accomodation. some of my colleagues earn as much as 300-400k. A friend of mine just got a job as a vice principal for 750k in a new school. So instead of wasting away pounding the streets of lagos or ph, its better to start early and make something of yourself. @OP can we contact?

Teaching Job Is Now LUCRATIVE (My Experience). by akubudejud(m): 3:57pm On Nov 14, 2013
PLEASE..If you are reading this post I will want you to be objective and learn from this rather than criticizing ,this is my personal experiences and may not apply to every body follow the trend and learn, this post is not intending to down-grade any Job or career or advertise any establishment, however it is meant to disabuse the minds of so many intelligent unemployed graduate out there through my own past experiences.

Now,let me start from here many years ago in the University our aim and objective like any other undergraduate is to struggle to make good grade, 2:1 grade at least, leave the school get a wonderful job that can fetch you good money to start life possibly getting another degree or starting a family, this is always our dreams. But personally I was wrong, life in the campus is quite different from the outside life please,am talking to those of us that came from an average family and not those who's parent has starched money in the bank or reserved a position in a big conglomerate for them.

Now, I left school for my NYSC like many of us did, I was too much in a hurry to finished NYSC because I believe my certificate is a straight ticket to either work in Shell ,NNPC,GLO, MTN, NLG, GTBANK, HALLIBURTON just name them, I was known in all Test venue all over the country after a lot of frustrated attempt, I remember the Federal government jobs in all the Ministries including state ministries, later I try the Nigerian police, Army ,Navy ,Airforce Road safety and so on and so forth..no Godfather no Job..after the whole Aptitude Test no Job, I AM getting older, my age is disappointing me to get certain good Job, earlier however along the line, during my Youth service I was introduced to teaching but I ended up quarreling with my adviser.

Now, am jobless but intelligent, I now remember my NYSC days when I was posted to a secondary school..TEACHER God forbid Who want to be a TEACHER or FARMER ,David Osho was my course mate in school He is now with Chevron ..am a graduate of Geophysics too so why will you wish me such a thing that is always my reaction...I remain jobless why so many job vacancies are been advertised every day from old and new schools looking for qualify teachers all over Nigeria.

After many years of roaming about the street of Lagos ,Abuja, Portharcourt, Ibadan etc. I settled down for a private school where I was completely used up every day for a pay as high as N 7,000.00 PER month incredible..!(not exaggerating here) very small to start with you may say.

But hear this after a while I began to study the system, gather money to develop myself in the field and fortunately things started changing in the educational sector in Nigeria as teachers started earning respect from people thank God for God, and the NTI-(National Teacher's Institute) and TRCN (Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria) who Started standardizing the profession.

Through hard work I learnt the rudiment of teaching and I started having a different views and understanding about some schools in Nigeria running both Nigerian and British curriculum in this noble profession I then apply to one of the International school after my PGDip Ed. sincerely speaking ,I never thought I could enjoy teaching not only by the act but what can be learnt and gain from this type of high caliber secondary schools in Nigeria.

So now,if you are in the line of education already I congratulate you. Imagine the thousand upon thousand of NYSC graduates passing out and other intelligent graduates from Higher Institutions roaming the street claiming to be University or polytechnic graduate wasting away looking for job that is NOT available.

When moving around Lagos one day I remember with great pity how many like me refusing to start something small...please let us re-think and plan for ourselves you can pursue your dream but don't relegate any profession it could be your saving grace.

CaptainDo:
I do not know why you are teaching? Whatever reason(s) that brought you into this profession, I believe you deserve a good pay. Some of us receive 10k-40k, others 50k-70k, others 80k-120, others 130k-150k and others 150k-k's. All these categories of remunerations are available but you need few things to get a good one.
1. Determination and Focus- be determined and focused. Start somewhere and aim/target big. I started teaching job with 10k.
2. Be unique- Do not always do your things as usual. I could remember I payed for website hosting in August and put the website in my CV. It gave edge over others. I wrote a novel which I showed the manuscript to my interviewer.
3. Take Risk-Leave your comfort zone and try new things. I was teaching in Mainland-from 10k to 16k to 38k and 100k(Lekki) after a month 20k added(120k now). But how many of us can abandon 2 months salary of 38k(76k) to pursue an unsure job? Yes, I did it when my employer wanted to use it to hold me .
Leave your comfort zone- there are schools here in Lekki, Ikoyi, VI, Ajah that you can fit in perfectly into. The School that is paying me 120k just started with 14 students.
tanx for sharing.pls is dere still an opportunity in your school or ny school around?I studies economics.I am new in lagos.Av submitted my resume to schools around me but yet to get a feedback frm dem.

It it quite annoying to see peeps applying for jobs and yet no feedbacks. Do you know that some persons are just to selfish? Hoarding information, refusing to give out information and worse of all no feedbacks......
"WE" are not asking for money like other agents, we go out scout for these schools, give some information to you to enable you make informed decisions and all WE ask is just feedback not money, drink or even a favour , then I begin to wonder how indeed we are going to be ONE NIGERIA!!!!! Sunnypar has made this known when he launched himself on board, but yet it same old same.
Just imagine if we did not do the legwork, brainwork and all other work to give you such information. They say silence is Golden. I would have love to follow my fellow comrades, but am speaking on behalf of of those would-be teachers and the likes that would love to get into the profession, it is a duty to give feedbacks to us and them.

Givemejoy, artisticallyart, Professor, Evathyst and Co., am begging and pleading to call of the strike and let together strike out unemployment from Nigeria.
