Jordan Nicholas was trying very hard not to drive over to Joel's and beat his sister black and blue. He walked to his chair and sat down.
'Mirabel!', he shouted his secretary's name.
She came in, almost running. Her eyes darted to the pieces of disc scattered on the floor.
'clean up this mess. Cancel my schedule and I don't want to be disturbed'
'yes sir'
soon, he was alone. Mirable reappeared and cleaned up the mess he made. Jordan didn't even know how to start it. He just knew that neither his father nor mother should see it. It would break their heart. Mich had done enough damage already.
By 4pm, he picked his briefcase and drove home. He found his wife sleeping on the bed. She must have cried herself to sleep. He removed his clothes and kissed her on the lips. Tara slowly opened her eyes. They were swollen. He couldn't help but notice the red blouse on the floor.
'Hy'
'Are you still angry?'
' No my sweet. I really over reacted, i'm sorry'
'Jordan, I won't ever wear that dress again. I'm sorry'
It occured to him that she thought he was angry as a result of her clothes. He sat down on the bed.
'No Tara. I was angry at the disc, not your dress'
'whats in it?'
despite the fact that she was his wife and he trusted her. He knew that he wouldn't be able to tell her what he saw.
'Its about a business contract i was given a month ago. We are suppose to begin work in a week and it was taken away from me'
'I thought you are angry with me'
'No Tara. I'm sorry I yelled at you but please I don't want you in that blouse again'
'Okay Jordan'
He pulled her to him and kissed her on the nose.
'What should I do to make up for making my beautiful wife cry?'
'Make love to me'
He laughed and began kissing her. In no time, her jeans were off. Jordan pictured his sister, unclad, with a man and he knew he couldn't continue what he had started. He hurriedly left the bed, dressed and was out of the door in two minutes. Tara just looked at the close door. Maybe, her husband was cheating on her. The thought brought tears to her eyes.
He came back home by 11pm, very drunk and Tara pretended to be asleep.

It was saturday and Joel's day off. He woke up early and had a bath. Mich was still sleeping, he fought the urge to kiss her sexy lips. Truth was, sharing a room and bed with her was proving more and more difficult. He had always been attracted to her but he knew that theirs was a marriage of conveniance and she was under no obligation to perform any conjugal duty to him.
He got dressed and went downstairs. Leila and Maureen were already having breakfast.
'Daddy, may I visit mummy today?'
'No, you may not'
'but why?'
'you've forgotten to greet me'
'Good morning daddy. Please may I spend the weekend with mummy?'
'No, you may spend it with Mich'
'But she's not my mummy'
There was a knock on the door.
'Maureen, see who is there'
Maureen was not happy at all. Her brother only sided his wife. He had warned Maureen to either respect Mich or answer to him. Imagine! She used to be his favourite. She grumbled but dared not disrespect him. Michelle was still sleeping and Joel saw nothing wrong with it. Opening the door, she was face to face with two of her uncles.
'Goodmorning Uncle Lucas, goodmorning uncle Philip'
'Morning Maureen'
They followed her into the room. Joel stood up when he saw them. He hated them but he masked his emotions, after all, they were his late father's younger brothers.
After the normal greetings, he instructed Maureen to serve breakfast. She fumed, why should she do it when Michelle was at home and sleeping?
'We heard rumur that you were married', Uncle Philip, a tall fair man in his fifties asked.
'It wasn't a rumur uncle, I had a court marrage on wednesday'
Lucas and Philip stood up. They were both very angry.
'How dare you! You didn't even ask for our permission'
' Do I need your permission to get married? No, When our parents died, I remember you vividly told me that my sister and I are on our own. Why the sudden interest?'
Maureen hated them. They had abandon them when they needed them most. For once, she was glad they were against her brother's marriage.
'Leila go to your room'
'but I don't want to go'
'I want you to'
She stood up and dragged her feet away.
'Where is your wife'
'she's sleeping'
'Maybe you married her because she was pregnant?'
'I don't know what you are saying'
'We brought you a messgae from the brothers. Divorce that gold digger immediately'
'And if I refuse?'
'You will be exterminated'
Mich came down in her pyjamas. They looked at her in disdain. Joel went on his feet and engulfed her in a kiss.
'Nonsense! The elders will hear of this. How dare you Joel? And you, prostitute, pack your things and leave', Lucas shouted.

A writer in a class of her own. Nairaland is lucky to have a story like this posted in one of the forum's sections.
