Nigerian pastor want to control every aspect of your life. The case of single career or well educated lady; This big girls depend so much on their pastors that they ended up scaring the few available guys with 24/7 church activities. or you must see my pastor before I can date you.

The only way to blame the pastor is when he mention your name,but i believe he uses that your confidential secret to inspired other making to understand that their hope for eveybody.

I. Did a course while in the Bible college of my church(Pastoral theology).While treating the quality of a pastor, we were made to understand that as a good pastor, we should not mention the secrete or any confidential information obtained during counselling while preaching.May be your pastor did not undergo a thorough training.Based on what I was taught in Bible College, it is wrong in all ramification.I personally belief that if u mentioned it during a testimony period, the pastor can make reference to it while preaching

In his words he said he went to the pastor for prayer and counseling. Pastors do not manufacture experience and knowledge, it is the experiences he gathers from biblical accounts and real life experiences of other people that will help him in counseling u, therefore, be rest asured that your experience will serve as a lesson to others. What matters in this case is that, he never mentioned your name in his cause of sharing this your experience.

something like that happened at a Baptist church in ogbomoso while I was an undergraduate.. there was a married woman in the church who apparently has dated a guy in their university days..and later the guy became a Reverend and was posted to the same church the woman and her husband worshipped.. maybe due to conscience, the said woman went to meet the senior pastor in the church and confided in her only for the senior pastor to ask both the Reverend and the woman to stand up during the next service and he spilled everything right there...but the shocking part of the story was that the lady fought back and claimed that she has slept with the senior pastor too so many times.. nobody really knew if it was true or not but this issue affected the church and lead to mass transfer and exodus from the Church

Pastors tell more stories than my great great grandpa in remote village.

...most of these pastors are loose-canoon;you're only being fortunate to be at the preaching service.anytime a pastor preaches about someone so distant,you should know your confidentiality will be revealed to another group while you're far from him,but in your case unknowingly.genuine pastors stick to the scripture.

Why did he go to the pastor in the first place instead of confronting the challenging period he was going through. The pastor I'd not an expert in all issues. Go to him for the spiritual only; including confessional. I don't see the relevance of pastors in financial and family matters when some of them are going through divorce themselves.
