Guess he studied the particular virus rampant in his arena, knows how to remove it manually both the files it created and registry settings.

He programmed the application to do the removal and clean the registry.

Not entirely a discovery before PDP claim their Education policy brought about this break through the way they brought Faccebook to Nigeria. angry angry

Nice attempt all the same.
Thats the exactly what i did in summary.. thanks.. i'll explain in detail, in the thread

Okay guys, I just installed Virus disguised as an antivirus...
I clicked the SCAN button, and directed it to my hard disk drive, this antivirus virus virtually uninstalled all the apps in my system and deleted their shortcuts and called them THREATS... chai ayaf die...
I just did a system recovery sha and got my apps back...
Use at Ya own risk
Am sorry about that.
But i think u are exaggerating on what happened.
First of all, as i mentioned in one of the read me file in the zip, ur not meant to scan ur local drive as the antivirus maintains (2)two threads that monitors
1. all running process
2. ur registry files.
It scans all running process(every 120 sec) and ur registry if it was updated/every (1 hr) and on app launch

And if u scanned ur local drive as said, the only thing lost wud b shortcuts on ur desktop, not uninstalling all ur apps as stated, pls retract.
i'll disable this in the next update.
its an opens source project on my github page(github.com/robophil), all contribution both positive and negative is appreciated. thanks, i'll keep in touch on this thread..
programmers in the house, review and contribution to this project would be highly appreciate..
thanks u all

Hello, all Nairalanders, the biggest April fool was just posted by some guys, claiming that they have an anti-virus that can cure all malware. Please,I just fell for this trick and am still licking my wounds now.All the software on my system were compromised.I felt like crying because the malware affected my works badly.
Please,i beg fellow Nigerians not to fall into this cheap trick of this people. They are a big disgrace to innocent Nigerians.Beware and dont ever try to activate their ULTIMATE ANTI-VIRUS on your computer.
A word is enough for the wise.

joromi:

Your phone get 32 bit version ?
O ga o
The anti virus is for pcs

Who allowed this uncouth fellow here?

Just asking...

For clarity and for the reading populace however, I welcome the indigenous antivirus development. I wrote that earlier.

This afternoon, I attempted downloading the software unto my large memory card using my phone, with which I was surfing the internet at the time.

A lot of people here know that a lot of computer softwares can be downloaded using phones. These software files can later be subsequently safely transferred from the phone's memory card to a computer hard drive.

There is the possibility that my inability to download it was because I was using a phone operating system to initiate the particular download for this Nigerian software - and that was why I indicated the medium I was employing - especially as no other person has at then commented about safely downloading and using the antivirus.

People like 'joromi' above certainly need some more training in civics. Beware, whoever you are, men, like shoes, are in sizes. You don't take presumed facelessness for liberty, as nothing is really secret.

Everyone, every single individual is identifiable afterall - and every man would pay for his actions and inactions - either directly or indirectly, here or in the afterworld.

Op the dropbox link is saturated.

One thing that is missing from Nigerian inventors is hoe to turn their inventions into commercial success.

Can marketing people please shed light on this issue ?

Don't use until it's well tested. If you need a free and effcient anti-virus/anti-malware to protect your computer and mobile phone, download and install Avast Free, which is a well tested product from a well known company in virus protection business.

I have been using this free product for more 12 years and haven't had any virus or malware problem.

You said the software is an open source software. Perhaps, if you post the code here on NL some of us might be able to help you detect bugs - check your comfort level before doing so.

I might help you if it's a software that runs on Linux kernel - It's been awhile I did a knock-down Linux OS project in school. Have forgotten much of the process, but who knows - might still have some of the info still hidden somewhere in the head. I guess it'll be a nice crash refreshment exercise.
It's strictly Windows OS.
