there is other remedy for degenerative myopia, which is keratectomy.it is a LASER surgery done on the cornea to help reduce cornea curvature if too steep.it is not done in Nigeria presently, but in abroad.antiireflection coated lenses are very affordable..try visit an eye clinic close to u for one.

Thanks DrSteriod for the good work. We do LASIK and LASEK here in Nigeria. If you want further information you can PM, or whatsapp me for details (08060087444).

hello doctor ! Please help my 9 month old brother, its been a month now that i notice his sight wasnt normal, as a result of a fell from a bed of 50 cm high. The black spot in his both eyes aint in the middle, boths are shifted to the left. He also cry of scratch from the left eye which somtimes turn red ( i mean wen he wants to sight somthing straight to him, he will have to direct his head left or right). He was taken to general hospital to consult an eye specialist.. The specialist lament the recommendation of glasses which am not praying for.. Please help

as a result of injury sustained 4rm the fall, the baby developed strabismus wch is as a result of the trauma.the eye muscles responsible for moving the eyes known as extraocular muscle were affected.since the baby is still young a detailed extraocular muscle examination should be carried out to know if muscle resectioning surgery will be required to make the muscles ok again,or if an orthoptic exercise wil be the preferred choice.I don't tink u should be bothered about the baby wearing glasses,if that's what the baby needs to make her eyes ok,jus let the baby get it,cos this is the right time to take care of the eyes cos when the baby grows up with it,the prognosis becomes poorer. as a result of the fall, your brother is now having strabismus. I wil advice you to see an eye specialist so that detailed and comprehensive assessment must be carried out on the eyes and the extraocular muscles,so as to know the best treatment, and if muscle resectioning surgery can be recommended.this is the right time to work on the eyes cos the baby is stil young,if allowed to drag on, this wil lead to poor prognosis.I wil advice u take this up immediately.orthoptic training exercisemay be required also.I wil advice you to stick with the advice of the doctor.using glasses is not really a problem as long as the purpose of the glasses is accomplished.tanx

the baby is having strabismus as a result of the trauma sustained. This is really the ideal time 2 take care of that baby,I wil advice u to accept any treatment given to the baby, there is no problem wrong with glasses,as long as the baby's vision and extraocular muscles are in gud conditions.thanx

Hello doc, pls I know my prescription lenses, misplaced my previous glasses yesterday but my optician (not quack) seems expensive to be doing the lenses (polychromatic +anti reflective for 10k).
I'm hoping you I could get referral to places with more economic prices.

the baby might have developed strabismus as a result of the trauma. Since he is stil very young, this is the ideal time to seek solution with appropriate treatment..strabismic eye can be correcte through vision training (orthoptics), surgery or spectacle correction (glasses). Since the doctor has alredy recommended glasses,I think u should allow him go 4 that..his vision and his oculo-motor functioning is paramount to any personal believe..thanx

That looks like pterygium and its likely inflammed already. Its usually caused by environmental factors like sun, winds, dusts, uvrays e.t.c. Drugs can give u relief from the symptoms u are having but such symptoms can re-occur in the future. The other option is to do pterygium excision/removal. Its a more permanent solution, although There is a possibility of the pterygium growing back even after surgery tho.

Dr, I did an comprehensive eye test about a year ago, because I had this black eye bag down my eyes.
After the test the doctor said I was fine that the eye bag is definitely an allergy reaction (Was told the same thing 6 years back)
During the test I found out that my right eye was sharper than my left.. but the doctor insisted that I have perfect eye sight. (although I would have rushed to get glasses because they had perfect pretty pairs of glasses there)
Only for last week some people came to my office to do eye test, they made me look through a hole and came up with this result

Distance SPH -0.5R and 0.25L Cyl-, Axis-

The next thing he told me was "you need a pair of glasses"..
I just told him that they cant see me in their clinic because I have the best vision one would wish for...
I see clearly both far and near
1. My point is: Can I be needing a pair of glasses so soon just after the test a year ago (BTW that was the second comprehensive test this is just one kind pin-hole camera test)
2. I would have expected the R=-0.25 and the left -0.5.

Can you advice me on that result

gud pm..wen exactly did the lotion poured into your eyes and have you seen a doctor before? In cases of any splash or foreign body in the eye,the first step is to get a clean water and flush properly before seeing an eye doctor asap.please don't try use any self medication cos am suspecting involvement of the cornea which really need a professional care..beta still you can talk to me through whatsapp or bbm so I can really get a clear picture of the real problem 4 proper diagnosis.
give me ur number sir

from the prescription you wrote,it shows that u have astigmatism. Its really possible u have an error and since ur eyes can tolerate the refractive error, you may not notice any difference.I will advice you to take the neccessary treatment as soon as possible.

its done in nigeria,it is really a very simple surgical procedure, and the prognosis is really gud.it is really affordable, but there are two main types of the surgical procedure, they are:the one without graft, and the one with graft..The one with graft is a little bit expensive than that without graft.Pterygium surgery with graft has lesser probability of re-occurrence unlike the one without graft.

From ur explanation, it shows u have some lil amount of refractive errors. I wuld guess an AutoRefractor (frm ur ' pin-hole camera test' description) was used to conduct the test. Here is my advice : you can either get a glass to correct it or u don't without glass since u seem not to have any symptoms or discomfort. One more thing, AutoRefract results r not usually the final arbiter of whether or not you will need glass or not.

Thanks, I will definitely go for another test but not in a hurry and not that hospital
Will do that in about 4 months time so till then let me believe I am fine.
On a second thought I still have issues believing this test result.
Will come back with the next result.
