Even-though I am no longer with LC, I will always remain loyal to the organisation. The rigour, exposure and training received at LC made the highly versatile and workaholic person I am today.
Wishing you a wonderful time at LC.

If you are in need of personal advice you can reach me on 08036638728.
I appreciate Sir! But to be honest with you, it's damn stressful. I'm just closing for the day @ guys hour yet, still have some work to battle with at home.

Will reach you on your line to see how you can give me elderly advise about the work cos all I keep hearing here is that work hasn't started yet. Just imagine?

This was my post at 4.30pm on 3rd January 2015

Congrats and I wish you the very best, LC is a good place to work if you are hardworking, totally committed to the organisation and highly resourceful.
The work load at Laureates is highly demanding, but I guess you should be able to cope.
But mind you, it is not easy to combine your workload at LC with other commitments like home teaching, tutorial classes or other extra businesses.

I guess I understand better now. But whichever way, I believe I'll adapt. Like I told my students last week, adaptability is the 9th characteristics of living organisms. So, whichever condition one finds oneself, one should learn to adapt. But honestly Sir, I wish I could be half as resourceful as you are to have stayed there that long.

I quite understand Sister, don't worry will remember you in my prayers. But mind you, whenever you pray for a job with a better pay, do do remember to tell God that it should be less stressful.

Hello House...

Pls I want to make some enquiries. I'm presently working in a bank but hope to resign my job and go into education. My questions are:

* Is a B.Sc Political Science degree enough to establish a school or do I need a special qualification in terms of degree say PGDE?

* Is N1.5m enough to set up a qualitative secondary school?

Expecting positive feedback from anyone in the know
setting up a school with first degree aint advisable because most people I know use first degree and later obtained the second degree. In line with cac requirements you need a masters in education. 1.5m would not be enough to start up, the requirements alone by cac and lagos state government(assuming you reside in Lagos)is money consuming. I onced worked in an audit firm that deals with schools.

A partnering organisation has an education
programme which teaches Mathematics, English
and LIFE (Leadership, Information, Finance and
Ethics) issues to senior secondary school students in
public schools in Lagos and Ogun State. The
students attend the weekly Saturday tutoring (while
schools are in session) where volunteers from
various fields come in to tutor them. These
volunteers also serve as role models to the students.
This is done every term and starts from
10am-12noon or 12-2pm on environmental
Saturdays.
Volunteers are expected to commit to teaching
every Saturday throughout the term for an hour
minimum. They are expected to be:
Able to impact the students
Great teachers
Confident
Passionate
Selfless
Committed
Result driven
Generous
Humble
Sacrificial
Courageous
The tutorial centres are located in Amuwo Odofin,
Apapa, Ikeja, Lagos Island, Surulere, and Yaba Local
Government Areas (L.G.A.) in Lagos state; and in
Obafemi-Owode L.G.A and Owode-Egba at Ogun
state.

The most important thing in setting up a successful school is the financial muscle and managerial competence. With your first degree you can own and become the head of a school. The minimum requirement by the Ministry of Education is NCE or First degree in Education and 5 years teaching experience.

Most of the big schools are not owned by teachers or educationists, but are owned by business savvy investors who can manage human resources, material resources, identify and anticipate business opportunities . They also know how to position themselves for the emerging opportunities in the educational sector.
