@ "economy dropped" I meant economy grew.... Mistake things!
I will not respond to your ethnic bias. Whether unity school cut-off is 1 or half in sokoto it is not my business. I want good governance, improved educational standard and happy well being of the people in Nigeria. As for the oil blos in the Niger Delta, I can't remember when Buhari awarded oil bloc to anybody. In fact, the elite don't like him because their interests will not be considered at the expense of the public. As for ND, the PIB and resource control will take care of that. I won't go further but I know we will get to our destination.
Kenai:

You just made no sense.

Well, newsflash: Any serious-minded country that plans to become an economic giant must thrive on fairness, hardwork, delayed gratification and a meritocatic ethos, not ROBIN HOOD theatrics.
It is this same logic of "bridging the gap" that has led to great disenfranchisement of Niger-Deltans where a lot of their oil profits are carted off to the North simply because "those people are poor", as well as the unfair Unity school cut-off marks where a boy from Yobe with a score of 2 gains admission before a boy from Anambra with a score of 135, simply because the north is "educationally disadvantaged".

If you want a strong, competitive country, you must create a LEVEL-PLAYING field where everyone lives by their own sweat and hardwork!

This right here underscores yur hypocrisy in the wider scheme of things. So, you don't care about a northern child gaining admission over a clearly better performing Southern kid, but at the same time you say you want "improved standard of education"?
So, it never hit you that the regional imbalance and injustice itself sets off a chain reaction that kills determination on the part of the teachers. "Why work hard to teach my students well when I know they'll still gain admission even with their low scores?"
That, right there, is a policy that does not encourage hardwork on the parts of both the students and the teachers. Did you miss that part?

IÑ Nigeria we operate federal character. Sokoto state have their slot, so is rivers, lagos and other states. If Sokoto decide to reduce cut off to 0.2 for Sokoto slot, I don't see how that affects an Abia man except Abia slot is threatened. If we have improved Educational system in Sokoto, they will naturally increase their cut-off so as to accomodate the number of applicants allocated to them. You can't say the Sokoto kid do not go to school because he doesn't measure to the educational standard of the Abia kid. Like I said, it is not my business!! My own is improved standard of education so that the Sokoto kid and others can grow mentally

Read the fine print of the article. Nigeria was in dire straits during this period. The foreign exchange available was enough for only 3 months of exports. Expand the paper on your screen, read the article and judge the actions of govt in a context where politicians had looted the country blind and oil price was down to $30 a barrel.
Most countries in the world were rationing foreign exchange then using the same methods. After 12 months things had improved. IBB struck when the economy had already found a way to pay off the erious short term debt instruments we were tied to.

And the point I am making is that for a country to be a global competitor, it must do away with the restrictive quota system and embrace a little bit of Darwinism. Only then can merit truly be appreciated.
But then again, I wouldn't expect a WAEC holder like Buhari to know anything about merit after all.

This is a picture from an article in a London newspaper talking about how Muhammadu Buhari used his soldiers to brutalize traders and force them into lowering the prices of their commodities (even below cost price, resulting in massive losses) during his "Essential Commodities" misadventure.

So, now I get it. When Buhari was talking about "diversifying" our economy using the Army, Navy and Airforce, this is exactly what he was talking about - using the soldiers to brutalize citizens. This is what you get from a man with zero knowledge regarding Commerce and Economics. A man who knows nothing about demand-and-supply dynamics is too unintelligent to know that oil price is not "stabilized" using force.

I've said it and will say it again: Buhari is another NORTH KOREA waiting to happen.

When you combine tyranny with illiteracy, you have a head of state who would send soldiers to shops to force down prices instead of working on the macro economy to bring about change in prices.
Buhari recked lives of the citizens he was supposed to protect as the head of state.
What what do you expect from a criminal?

You see a man that ensured merchants do not take advantage of their scarce commodities?

You need to see an eye doctor or perhaps you deliberately twisting the tale.

Bros, the scenario was so stupid and scary!

You bought a tin of peak milk at N90. You are selling it for N100.

A customer walks in, ans asks how much you are selling the milk, and you say N100.

He goes out, comes back with the military task force.
You have broken the commandment of of an illiterate tyrant who just took power by force.
In his own price list, peak milk should be N30 only.
You are arrested and your shop is auctioned.

That is madness! Buhari was mad and I wonder if he has been cured.

Hear him, he will stabilize oil price, How?
He will use the soldiers and navy to diversify the economy. How?

You wanna stick with this dude, be my guest, but when the chirps are down, note that those of us who saw him in his dark days, warned folks like you.
Cheers.
