pour d entire ingredient into d fire, Wat u c is wat u get Wicked person! Guy naija stew na when you put everything raw (without slicing your fresh pepper or tomatoes) everything will be whole then allow to simmer for about 30 min b4 you add oil, meat and green. Don't blame me if it tastes horrible. |

Its been more than a year I stopped frying my stew. Blend tomatoes, pepper, tatashe and onions Pour into a pot and let it steam till the water completely dries out Pour vegetable oil and add sauce like curry powder, seasoning(cubes or powder) and salt Add your already steamed meat or fried meat/chicken and stir Keep stiring so that it doesn't get burnt Add a little water and allow to cook for 5mins Your stew is ready. 3 Likes |

after blending ur tomato, pepper and onoin. put an empty pot on d cooker.... pour your blended tomato, pepper and onoin inside d pot... put all d neccessary ingredient e.g maggi salt meat... then allow it to cook for like 2minute...then u add vegetable oil in it...and leave it for for some time till it is properly cooked... dat way you cooked d stew without frying it |

Its a simple logic. Just dont add oil in order not to fry it. 1 Like 1 Share |

Blend all d condiments (tomatoes, peppers & onion) place d pot on fire, pour d blended condiments & stock water together into d pot & cover d pot for a while, say 20/30mins to cook & thicken stirring as required. Taste, add more maggi & salt if required. add palm oil & cover again for another 10mins but reduce d heat. That's it! |

It is very possible. The Kalabari styled stew called Odu (abi na Ordu) is made this way. It is NOT cooked with vegetable oil or fried with any oil at all. Usually cooked with fresh fish. I do not know what trick(s) they apply in removing the harsh and slightly sour taste of the fresh tomatoes. Ask a proper Kalabari lady from Rivers State. It goes with a lot of spices and especially Tilapia (Atabala)Fish . Oh lala. Give me that with rice and a bottle of Star. Me na chop I sabi chop am when my mama cook am o. I no know how dem dey prepare am o. 2 Likes |

Ishilove:yes definitely. That's the most important part of the stew to give it a good taste. |

Fab2001:Hell no. You've got to bleach the palm oil a little. Adding palm oil like that will make it taste raw. |

Ishilove:for me,the oil comes first before I put the ingredients, but the disadvantage is that the stew might keep splashing on your body when you put the oil first. 1 Like |

What u do is 1. Put all d ingredient in the pot including maggi and a very little salt and boil it to dryness. 2. Bring it down 3. Put a smaller pot on fire and put adequate amount of groundnut oil, then breech it for a while and drop it from the fire. 4. Put your pot with ingredient back and allow it to boil, then and the breeched oil, dont stir it until it fully boiled, 5. Add salt and taste until it is adequate. 6. Allow it to boil a little while then drop it from fire. It ready to b served. |

Ishilove:instead of putting water after adding the ingredients, you add the stock sauce. If you wanna add tomato puree, you add it when you have poured the oil and allow it to heat for like 5mins with continous stirring. |

Infact, since I discoverd this method I seldom fry my stew no more... Just pour ur blended tomatoes, pepper, onions etc, in the pot and let it dry a little, then add ur Oil and Meat stock \meat then let it cook till wen u notice d stew is cooked and d oil has come to surface of d pot... You will have to keep stiring it as not to get it burnt! Enjoy 1 Like |
