Maybe they sell it to owners of smaller planes like Cessnas and Beechcrafts and other such light aircrafts.. I doubt a commercial jetliner would be fueled from jerrycans. I don't even think it's possible sef seeing as the fuel caps are under the wings of large planes.

They may have been caught with the fuel, probably from the fuel truck, but from a plane? It is not true.

fuel cannot be siphoned from modern cars not to talk of plane.

Airliners have crashed and all killed because the fuel ran out due to mscalculation of fuel loaded aboard... The same will eventually result when they proper fuel loaded aboard, is siphoned off in the shadows and the airline takes off only to stall in mid flight and too far from a safe runway landing....
People wonder why jungle justice is so harsh on theives as if theft will kill someone who is robbed.. There is truth in saying the theft of this fuel can lead to many lives lost...

True they should all have fuel guages, but when they know they filled the tanks and the gauge later shows some decrease, it can be confuseing and lead to assuming the guage is faulty and the fault would be dealt with at next service time..
Aircraft have gone down before due to miscalculated fuel load between metric system and american standard.. The faulty fuel guage was also another factor in the miscalculation...
They will siphon fuel today -and then tomorrow cut off pieces of sensors or remove piece of landing gear titanium to sell.. All those things can lead to catstrophe for paying customers..

I'm really not bothered about guys siphoning aviation fuel from a plane. What I'm curious to know is who they sell these jerrycans to.

Does it mean some airlines could actually just buy off jet fuel from any tout at the airport and use a funnel to pour it into a plane?

I would have expected a very stringent procurement procedure for things like jet fuel considering the dangers of running an aircraft with poor quality or adulterated fuel.
