1. Time frame: I believe, this failure came on the part of Divepen who failed to give a deadline date for story submission. Since two groups are involved and its a competition, I think the stories should be updated the same day. i.e, if Thronekid updates for his group today, cybershow must also update for his group.
And another thing is, there was never a definite date for the collaborations to start.
2. Poor planning is another thing: Divepen already played his part and I think the rest is left for the participants to do. I was lucky to be following a particular group and on the thread created for them, some of the members aren't contributing at all. I want to believe this checkmate club has a meeting platform outside Nairaland, so why are some people keeping mute?

She asked for the theme, you told her she should follow your cue. What cue if I may ask? I don't mean to mention names, but to get things right, I have to criticise with names. If Chinweblinks as a writer decided to switch to an all romace chapter, what do you think will happen to the theme you formed? Is there even a whatsapp group for the 'group 2' members? Is Chinwe among? What has been put in place?

3. CHAPTER 1: If you will permit me to rate the chapter one dropped by Thronekid, am afraid it won't score half of ten. I stand to be corrected, but the chapter one you dropped looked more like a jiggle, like when we are watching films and they say; "previously on so so so film." Believe me, the update you dropped lack what it takes to be called a chap. You asked Chinwe to look at a character closely, you don't have to tell her that, you duty is to write it. Give us detailed story, let it be lengthy, tell us about each and every character you mention in your post. When I started reading, I saw a certain Sheriff, then there was a principal whom I believed was talking to Sheriff on phone. How come there came to be a school or am I mixing things?
I am not doubting anybody's ability, but believe me, you've thrown the next writer into confusion. Are you expecting her to at the same time develop the characters and the plot? Hell no. It is your duty to build the character in chapter 1, the next writer comes in to develop the plot you started and the other writers builds on it.
Check previous collaborations on Nairaland and see how it is being done. See the management, the timing.
I was part of Nairaland writer's collaboration in 2014 and Divepen was too. I don't know if other writers met on whatsapp to share ideas before the start of the story, but even if they did, I was not part of the group. I joined them halfway, dropped the second to the last chapter and it matches with the one before it, the last writer dropped his based on what I dropped and the project was successful. I would have fumbled if the writers before me did bad jobs and the writer after me would have fumbled if I failed.
If you want this to be successful, halt things for now. Meet on whatsapp or anywhere else, discuss to the last, what you want to write. It could be love, marriage, family, crime or whatever. Then the first writer extensively tells us how the main character became a family man, a criminal, a married man or a lover man. Then the second writer will come in to give us details about the antagonist, after which he/she will give us what their rivalry looks like, that's plot building. It is now up to the susequent writers to import more characters and make the whole story a total success.
NOTE: You may not need to stop what you have started, but there is a lot of modification to be done.
The message I am trying to pass accross simply lies with, organisation of what the competitioon will look like, the working relationship of the writers and most importantly, the details of the story.
