We Nigerians like our African food than other countries. I love taking American breakfast consists: Scrambled eggs, pancakes and syrup, sausage and biscuit, muffins and burritos, steak, bacon etc and a 32 OZ coke or pepsi as water because they rarely drink water. As a matter of fact, some brush their teeth in the morning with flavored water and will never allow water into their mouth for the whole day.

That is why most americans are really obese, diabetic and hypertensive, junk, fatty and processed foods they eat.

Nigeria food is mostly pure nature given organic and healthy but it all depends on who is eating it,some people think that enormous consumption is a symbol of wealth which ultimately leads to fat associated diseases as a result of ignorance, just like the average american consumer.

Re: American Foods Vs. Nigerian Foods by Nobody: 8:38pm On Nov 25, 2008
@Poster
If you want to know more about nigerian food, just book a flight to houston. (Southwest Houston----Bissonett street)
There are like 4 nigerian restaurants that serve Everything that is nigerian. (from nkwobi, isiewu, to moin moin and akara, suya. etc) Try "Fingerlicking restaurant"
If you're on the east coast, theres a ton of them in Philly and New York. That way you'd know what to expect before going to nigeria.

You are obviously above average because not all nigerians can affort to spend 200 naira on lunch, 100 naira on breakfast and 120naira on dinner. Thats like 420 naira my guy.
You're either a student or above average. Most nigerians follow the 1-0-1 routine. Some even follow 0-1-0

Maybe not everyone, but majority of the people can. I am an average naija guy. The less than $100 is highly exaggerated by oyinbo.

Student no be average?
Re: American Foods Vs. Nigerian Foods by oYaTo(m): 11:03am On Nov 26, 2008
@ server34 You're probably saying that with the urban areas in naija in mind. .go to the villages and ur eye go clear.
Re: American Foods Vs. Nigerian Foods by server34(m): 12:22pm On Nov 26, 2008
Ok I give up. Not saying that I haven't been to the villages though, maybe my village is Behind. Also remember that the cities (Lagos, abuja, ph, kano, benin, etc) have more people in terms of population when compared to the villages.

I give up sha. Some1 just made me know am above average. Wow!

Some people seem to disagree with angelina08! I must say that this statement surprises me, because when I see photos of Nigerian foods, it seems to have been prepared using fresh ingredients.

i think i agree with her cause almost every nigerian food/meal we eat or i know is prepared one way or the other which doesnt make it fresh so i agree with her
Re: American Foods Vs. Nigerian Foods by drrionelli(m): 12:21am On Nov 27, 2008
I see what you mean, but even fresh food can be prepared. It need not be consumed raw.

When I think of fresh foods, I think of those which have not been heavily processed. Sort of the difference between a raw potato and a potato chip.
Re: American Foods Vs. Nigerian Foods by AmakaOne(f): 2:11pm On Nov 27, 2008
There is a difference between raw food and fresh food.
Fresh food by definition is food that is not preserved by canning or dehydration or freezing or smoking

Raw food is uncooked, unprocessed food.

So which of these do we Nigerians not eat?

we eat fresh fish, fresh meat, fresh vegetables

As for raw food we eat fruit, milk, etc.

you cant go wrong with jellof rice or rice and stew. I have yet to meet anyone who doesnt enjoy these plates.

the only concern I have is whether or not you like your food with pepper shocked. If you do, you will have no problem with these dishes. If you don't like pepper, then you better let the cook know in advanced!!!
