are the Fulani's not in charge of kwara state? grin

No. The Yoruba are both in linguistics and politics
This fulani factor in ilorin is over flogged, it was a case of Yoruba muslims with help from fulani slaves against Yoruba pagans

I just don't know why some bigot Igbos think they know Yoruba history more than Yorubas
Considering some Igbos are losing touch with their own history and find solace in Hebrews
Go address your burning house before talking Yoruba

No matter what, you can never hide the truth..this is a picture in Ilorin...Doesn't this look like a view you will see in the north? You will never see an image like this in any other Yoruba state except kwara..why? The Fulani's rule you just accept.

That's a view of an Islamised city not a fulani city. If anything we should see Arab influence cus that's Arab architecture not fulani

Fulani slaves?? hahaha..Abeg read this: http://www.ilorin.info/fullnews.php?id=10472 clearly a different story from what the op posted..

The fulanis has taken over Ilorin and kwara and no matter how hard the Yoruba's fight to get it back, they won't agree.

Another angle to the agitation is the demand for
Oya State that will comprise the Yoruba
speaking areas of Kwara and Kogi States. The move, it was said, is to pull the rug from under the feet of the emir and end the Fulani rulership of Ilorin.

BUT WHY DON'T WE HAVE HAUSA'S IN KWARA NOW?

Seriously the article is misleading. Yes there are Gobiri (Hausas) in Ilorin, likewise Kanuris, Gwaris, Nupes among other smaller ethnic groups - asides Fulanis and Yorubas. Am surprised at the author's claim of Ilorin being dominated by Yorubas. Its simply erroneous, though a superficial look at Ilorin may give the impression that its all Yoruba - hence, the Yoruba insistence that it be assimilated into its larger fold, but infact Ilorin is bigger than Yorubas !

This a story not an historical fact. Its reeled with contradiction and at best not coherent. Its more of a Yoruba bragging than an exercise to lay down facts. I would recommend you read any good Yoruba history book than this junk.

What contradiction? Wats wrong with people trying to turn ilorin into a fulani city?
You forget there's more Yoruba presence in the town?

We are still saying same thing here, and who told you that Ilorin is the only town in Kwara, you kept saying Ilorin, Ilorin since. I'm not from Ilorin. Hence the reason the article said this

And even if I was from Ilorin, Il stil tell you the same thing, that I aint fulani.. tongue Did you read the last paragraph of the article? undecided

Here is it, Oya read it and digest, and tell me what it means grin

"The Yoruba people of Ilorin are not alone in the struggle. The pan-Yoruba meeting which took place in Ibadan last year demanded restructuring of Kwara State such that Ilorin would be grouped with the Southwest. Analysts interpreted this to mean that the parley did not believe that any emir had any business on Ilorin throne"

What contradiction? ok... At one point, the author claim that there was an attempt by Yoruba chiefs to dethrone the Fulani, but after succeeding, they enthrone another fulani. Isn't that a contradiction, that story isn't even true. Not at all.
I mentioned it elsewhere that, a superficial look at Ilorin appears to the eye as a Yoruba enclave, but in fact, Ilorin is bigger than that.

What makes him brainless or a bastard? I am confused by those emotional words lacking in arojinle. Oyo was a tyranny not just to Oyos but to others. He could have not acted without support. That was the outcome of Oyo politics. jUst like the US broke away from England,,were they bastards for doing so.It is Naive to thin that Oyo was a homogenous empire. There were a lot of Nupe and Ebira and the further up north you went the more of that you would encounter. The fact that a people speak a language is just evidence of the reach on an empire. This does not mean the people are homogenous. We must remember this was the era of the slave trade and Oyo raided many peoples for slaves

Alright.

I think both Oyo Empire and Afonja committed the political blunder then.

I'm just annoyed that a Fulani is an Emir in Yorubaland.

That's my anger.

Lobatan.
