[b]THE MORE THE MINISTERS, THE HIGHER THE CHANNEL OF MONEY-LAUNDERING AND CORRUPTION. IF POSSIBLE, LET US HAVE JUST FOUR TO FIVE MINISTERS. OTHERS SHOULD JOIN JONA IN OTUOKE FOR OTUOKE DEVELOPMENT.

Good!

There's no need to keep appointing clueless persons to 'chop' money.

Why are people complaining because APC plans to scrap sports? Tell me why we need sports in Nigeria? Aside Olympic games, what other area of sports does Nigeria excel. We haven't won the world cup before, have we?
Instead of wasting so much on sports, we can use part of the money to buy sophisticated weapons for our soldiers, and the rest for purchasing cows from Mali

That comes under Communication.

Raiders, I feel it should be separated from communication. It's high time undivided attention was paid to the advancement of IT in the country and the only way to effectively do that is to form its own ministry...

CFCman:
A report on Daily Independent suggests that President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari will not appoint a minister to head Nigeria’s sports ministry.

Sources close to the Daura-born retired general said the new government is not keen on appointing anyone to oversee the affairs of the ministry, preferring instead to allow the Director General of National Sports Commission (NSC) to relate directly with the presidency.

One of the technocrats who spoke on the condition of anonymity said experience of the last decade was not what they would want to sustain, noting that the appointment of a minister for the ministry have not added value to sports development in the country.

The source said: “When you appoint somebody who knows next to nothing, what you get is a the kind of crisis playing out now. Their interest has nothing to do with developing the sector”.

“Now we don’t know if the National Sports Festival will hold at all. We competed at the Commonwealth Games without official kits. It was that bad,” said the source.

He added that they have advised the incoming government to let the NSC be as doing so would help the Commission focus strictly on sports development instead of using limited funds to cater for needs of ministers.

Just last week, the presidency sacked Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, the director general of the NSC. Dr Tammy Danagogo, the sports minister, appointed Alhassan Yakmut, a director in the NSC, as the acting director general to replace Elegbeleye.

It's a step in the right direction. We don't need unnecessary bureaucracy in government. I like the idea of the NSC being left alone to fashion out sports development policies for Nigeria.

The next ministry to be scrapped should be the information ministry. In its place, an official presidential press secretary should be the link between the media and the FEC meetings. The NTA and Radio should be granted greater editorial independence.

More to follow...

What about NCC? Those guys should be the first

I believe after the scrapping and merging, the following ministries should exist:

2. Foreign Affairs
3.Justice ministry
4. Finance
5. Commerce
6. Energy (merger of petroleum and Power)
7. Works and housing
8. Health
9. Labour
10. Education

You just read my mind, 14 or at most 15 ministries, there is no room for unnecessarily big federal executive council or duplication of offices! Like minister of state/junior minister.

Is this really in the interest of the nation or to ensure some states don't get ministerial slots?

So of a truth we are back to dictatorship rule sad
Re: Buhari To Scrap Sports Ministry! by discusant: 9:26am On Apr 28, 2015
Buhari can even scrap sports from Nigeria, after all, Nigerians voted for that. Nigerians witnessed it during Abacha regime which Buhari was a major decision maker, Abacha barred Green Eagles from international football for a long time. I remember JJ Okocha nearly crying before a German TV crew during Abacha regime: "even our football games, they have banned us from participating"

Issue is that president Jonathan has demonstrated he is so clueless that he is now the only sitting president in history who is nearly being put to trial by a president-elect.

Buhari now acts as President of Nigeria, he is putting Jonathan on near trial, even when Buhari is yet to be sworn into office, while the sitting present Jonathan, is on defensive in every sphere. Guess what tribulations await Jonathan after May 29, 2015.
