First they will bar or ban a News outlet ----payback time you will advance Next they will force female reporters to cover their heads ---- president is of certain religious affliation you demur Next they will force male reporters to grow long beards --- Presidents relgion has to be respected you argue Next they will withhold states allocation on the premise of not allowing head scarfs in schools--- religious equality you advance. Next they will withhold states allocation that prayers are not said in schools -- we are religious people you postulate Next they will flog girls wearing pants and mini skirt --morality you will claim Next they will jail men wearing jeans ---ditto morality Next they will ban movies - morality they will employ Next they will ban books except certain ones ---- you will question the need for books anyway. Next they they will banish women from public spaces ---- you applude more controll for me Then they will come for you. It is never early to fight for your freedom. Compare Afghanistan before the 70s and now. Its because they never knew what freedom was until they lost it. It is AIT today and what about you next week, next month or next year..... Once a dictator is a always a dictator. Buhari is an Islam itself. He is still an extremist. Now look at this. Of all the military heads of state after independence, can any person tell us or point to any military head of state that kills, jails more than Buhari? Tell us if there is any military head of state has ever killed women in this country? Once a dictator is always a dictator. Those who votes this evil call Buhari will reget. 3 Likes |

Is what constituting indecent dressing clearly identified under the laws of the Federal Republic? How can Buhari determine who is indecently dressed? This man is really showing that he lacks the necessary education and insight of any living in the 21st century. Sometimes, I wonder if he thinks he will be running an islamic caliphate or something. 1 Like |

agarawu23: Even in Aso Rock, "aristo" has freedom of choice in what to wear - as is done in any free country of the world; except in strict Islamic enclaves.. You or no body has any constitutional right to tell "aristo" what to wear in Aso Rock, or elsewhere; except in Buhari's private home. Aso Rock must not be used to experiment on Islamic sharia dressing codes. When Buhari and Abacha were in Aso Rock, women were continuously harassed in Abuja for dressing even in common jeans. 1 Like |

I would support strict dress code for journalists and all public officials. I have written about this subject on NL twice. The days of flowing gowns ( babariga and agbada ) must be over. The way our public officials dress does not show seriously on the job. Flowing and heavy dresses should be for social functions. Let us borrow a leaf from fashola's style. |

In civilised societies, public indecency laws are enforced by the police, not the president. And these arrests happen only when a person exposes their genitals to the public. |

naijainfogalery: If this is an example of decent dressing by a journalist to Aso Rock then it is totally unprofessional and they need to be told so. This is what you wear when you go to club to buggy down with your friends and you want them to feel you. While I was even in the UK a Wes-tindian colleague of mine wore something that was even better than this to work and she was sent home to change and had to go to a local market to buy what was termed appropriate dressing. If you don't know it they will show it to you. |

mbatuku2: Yes. Only public exposure of sex organs constitutes indecent dressing - even in Nigeria's laws. Society norms are not laws. If Buhari wants to be an imam - and not president of Nigeria - he has to go to preside over a mosque. From a pulpit in Kaduna in 2001, Buhari preached to Muslims to go out to ensure that sharia criminal laws were implemented all over Nigeria. Sharia criminal laws include stoning women to death for adultery, cutting off hands of petty thieves, obstructing women to go out alone without men, etc., No section in Nigeria's constitution permits the practice of what Buhari preached. No section of Nigeria's constitution said anything about what type of dress pattern to be used anywhere in Nigeria. |
