Lagos to Abuja. 10pm - 9am. By road!

Not a risk to take again. And the stress? I wanted to die...

Then Abuja to Cross River. Night trip too. Interesting a bit. But dangerous.

Which section of the Abuja to Cross River trip was most dangerous?

Did you head to Calabar or were you going to northern Cross River?

During NYSC too
I was going from a SE state to Maiduguri
......(sometimes I get car sick....but for reason I did not get car sick the first time I went to Maid.)
So I thought to do it again after the Christmas break

Shortly after we passed 9th Mile, Enugu...before Benue..the warnings started--- the slow burn of nausea and brain weakness...I dunno what to call it now
And still in Enugu/Benue
The horrible carsickness continued until we reached a town before a place called "Forest"
I dont remember the name of the town, or outpost...I was that sick
It seemed like it took fifty hours before we got there
I was not aware of places we passed, whether we stopped or not

....but I think we stopped at that place, or I told them to stop, I do not remember
I just remember seeing a Lawd! chemist shop!
I do not recollect leaving the bus....I do not remember how I entered the shop...or what I said to the druggist to make him give me an injection....
I remember being in the bus, finding a vein on my left hand....and stabbing myself real quick with the needle to get a fix of the drug....just like a junkie cheesy

My poor neighbour, a guy who had been saying things I do not remember "blanched". at the deed....still dunno what he said
I remember excusing myself to him that I was going to sleep very gracelessly....before zonking out
The sleep of the unconscious....
With the first waking, we were at Potiskum, and the nausea was blessedly gone
However the sleep continued
Luckily I had someone at the park waiting, and I fell right into his waiting, saving hands...

Poor guy who sat near me, he thought he had made a catch....then he had to watch me puke into a bag, twice...while he held bags
Then to make matters worse....he saw a weaker vessel stab herself with a needle, just like the queen of vampires ....or something
Of course he was my pillow thruout
And I did not look at his shirt....
lipsrsealed
Poor, poor guy

It is amazing how little I remember of an 18 hour journey....apart from seeing a drug store and excusing self to puke and sleep...maybe the guy took me inside the shop, I dont remember

Akwanga I guess before forest. Once in forest ur in jos already just few kilometres to jos south

Potentially dangerous.

The fact that you made it there safely means that it wasn't.

How did I forget my first trip to Niger State from Akure when I was 14? The vehicle broke down in the middle of nowhere.

Road trips do not interest me anymore.

The worst journey I've had was in August 2008. We travelled from Kano to Lagos to participate in a national BB camp to celebrate 100yrs of the Boys Brigade in Nigeria. 22 persons including me were squeezed into an 18-seater bus. This was because our OGA AT THE TOP cornered almost halve of the money provided by our Church for each of us to travel comfortably in a luxurious bus. There were five persons on each seat.
We left Kano at 5:30am on Monday and arrived Lagos at 02:00pm on Tuesday. Thanks to the Church driver who drove at 100Km/h because he was warned not to over speed. By the time we got to Zaria, my backside was in a state of Catatonia.
At 11:30am we stopped in Niger state for breakfast. There, a friend of ours ate indomie and egg, drank tea and bought bread and boiled egg to keep him busy throughout the journey. Thanks to our OGA AT THE TOP who said our next stop must be in Lagos. The journey continued with my friend vomiting all the indomie and egg in the bus within two hours of consumption, adding a foul smell to the already smelly congregation.
To cut a long story short, we arrived Ibadan by 11:00pm and had to ask our way towards Ogun where we eventually spent the night in the premises of a police station, because no Church could offer their premises to Abo.ki Christians from Kano. Even the Policemen were not free with us despite the BB banner on our bus and the NCOS, mostly kids. Of course, the officers spread mats on a massive SOAK AWAY, and slept in the open, enjoying fresh air and Ogun made Mosquitoes to the envy of NCOS who were forced to sleep in the smelly bus.
When we finally got to Lagos the next day, none of us could sit. We slept on our stomachs to give our backsides some rest.
Three days later after the camp, 24 persons including myself were squeezed into the same bus back to Kano. That was our escape bus from the maltreatment we suffered from our fellow BB members in Eko, who saw everyone else as inferior to them. They told us "THIS IS LAGOS".

Mine was during my service year, from warri to Makurdi to lafia, December 21 2013 precisely. Went to the park to book the day before, they had already finished booking the first and second bus and so I was the fourth passenger on the third bus. I woke up around 5 a.m that day, went to the park, waited and waited till about 7 a.m. only for one of the company staff to come and tell us that they only sent 2 buses, hence they'd be refunding our money. Oya now, after all the argument and insults I and some other guys decided to try breaking the journey at least to Enugu. bad as e bad we go get motor to Makurdi or so we thought! after another round of booking and waiting we finally left the park. Spent 2 hours on Niger bridge at Onitsha.5 p.m I was still in Enugu! na journey wey suppose take 10-12 hours max I done reach house. calls from parents and all started coming in, i just had to stop picking the calls. 10 p.m o was around Oturkpo on Benue state. long story short I got home around 1a.m, looking like a zombie18 hours after I left my house.

Its always service year na. Lemme share mine

I was posted to Kebbi State. Started calling relatives that were based in d North to ask for directions on getting a bus to Kebbi, even had to Download Nigeria Map to know where Kebbi was situated.
Later booked ticket at Iddo Garage d sunday before camp. D-day of leaving lagos, I was already at Iddo garage by 4pm with my pops. D bus was to leave by 8pm, Young Shall Grow Luxurious bus.
What spoilt d whole show was d beans I ate in d morning which my mum clearly warned me not to.. Boarded d bus by 7pm, bought rice at d garage and started eating. I no know I dey write letter to trouble.
Bus took off by 8pm, an hour later, wahala started. Felt a rumble in my tummy. We were stuck in traffic, yet to reach Berger o. On getting to Lag-Ib Express I cldnt hold it any longer. Had to tell my seat partner, cos I chldnt seat again. He advised me to go meet the pilot (driver). Omo shame no gree me go. When we were abt reachin redeem camp, I rushed to d front nd notified d driver my emergency problem. Driver said he cldnt stop cos of thieves on d highway bla bla and I have to chill till we get to toll gate. I almost fainted.

A woman seated in front called me saying she has flagyl and all. I collected it but told her d drug is so useless rite now cos it wont push it back in. I kept squatting and standing till we got to toll gate. On reaching toll gate, I flew like my pant was on fire Not knowing I was heading for another trouble at toll gate. I almost died with what happened next.

Omo make I pause here.... Want me to complete d story
Part 2
Rushed off to the bush behind d stalls at toll gate. On doing my thing wink a ttorch was flashed in my direction by one aboki. Came up to me and asked what I was doing there, before I knew what happened, a dazzling slap on my cheek. Na dea fear catch me o. I started stammering of how I was pressed from lagos heading to dea state bla bla. D aboki called on others and told them in their language to get him blade. I almost fainted. I started callin on Jesus and God simultaneously. God heard my cry by sendin one aboki among them. D aboki angel told him to free me say I b JJC. On pacifying him to calm down, d devil told me to pack my poo and run off. I told him I havent done anything, meanwhile I have finished my stuff. Na so I pack myself rushed down to the bus. God!!! Wat an horrific experience. Dey would have killed me and no one will have a clue.

I later took d flagyl to avoid stories dat touch. Roughly spent 19hours on d road to nysc camp at dakingari, kebbi state.
Thats it sha. Never told my family d aboki part. Lol

My most tideous journey was sometimes around August 2007 when Armed robbers blocked Lokoja -Okene Road on my way to Abuja and we all scampered for safety and Ilied down on top of a python that had swallowed a ram with two big horns. About four other passengers were hiding behind a rock resting on a log of wood unknown to us that it was a python until our weights was disturbing it and it flung us like sticks and rabbled round the whole cliff. The robbers that were chasing us eventually ran together for safety with us back to the main road on sighting the massive reptile which was moving towards a nearby river with two visible horns in its mouth. Two female passengers on sighting the python eventually fainted and were carried back to the road. That was my most harrowing travelling experience ever. The robbers ran away and we later discovered that they were robbing with only one real gone with few bullets and many toy guns and ordinary woods carved and painted like guns. They escaped into the nearby bush and disappeared.
