VERY VERY NICE. TOURIST AREAS IN NIGERIA IS GROWING. SOON, OUR VISAS MAY BE CHASED AFTER. WE JUST NEED MORE COMMITTED GOVERNORS AND ROOT OUT TRIBALISM.
Guy go and check how much his state receives from FG and that of other states...
For example akwa ibom receives 230billion while Imo receives 27billion... So what do you think?

Anyway, with what akwa ibom is receiving, which is more than what is given to three states in the south east, if our leaders are not thieves, akwa ibom state is supposed by now to be at par with lagos or Jo'burg.

Pls kindly tell us where you come from in nigeria, so we can juxtapose.

Because everywhere else in the south west is a village apart from lagos.

For instance, Ibadan is a very huge old ghetto with an infinite view of rusty brown corrugated zincs.

apart from fct n lagos
other places just waka come compared to south south.
If you are looking for a place to compare with south west, try north.

I've always wanted to visit Akwa-Ibom and cross-river states but the thought of living biz for 2 weeks only to relax, scares me. I usually have the crazyy feeling of losing so much, should I travel. But I just need to visit these two states for at least 2 weeks.

Eastern Nigeria is such a natural wonder. It only needs the right atmosphere and enabling politics to blossom. Why the Ibom Deep seaport is mired in the retrogressive politics of Nigeria is still not understood. So many potentials and yet we're still waiting endlessly.

From Ikot Ekpene to the commercial city of Aba in Abia state is a mere 41 kilometers...When are we going to start coupling all these positives for the greater benefit of the region

You're just a typical Yoruba tribalist. Always seeking to pull others down for no just cause. How would you feel if I say that Yorubas are pedophiles and rapists? Please stop being stupid. You must not continue thinking like your parents did.

No, that is a nonsensical statement.

AKS was a neglected region for decades. Ikot Ekpene and Uyo were essentially villages until relatively recently. There was too great of an infrastructure deficit (a common problem throughout Nigeria) to expect those kind of results. You have to remember that the are not building on inhabited land. Also, the allocation that you talk about is a recent thing (2011), many of the oil wells that AKS has used to belong to CRS. From what I have seen they have always had great plans in AKS and CRS, it's just a question on how much is available.

In time Nigeria will get there but to expect to go from 0 to 200 mph in such a short space of time is illogical.

I spent a year in IK between 2013-2014. I worked as facility engineer at gov akpabio's place at Ukana.
They have good weather, good roads but most of the indigenes are not hospitable. In as much as you find good structures in this part of akwa ibom, I must say these people think too local.
When it comes to sunday worship, they are number one, yet they believe more on fetish things.
One of the difficult things I went through was the language. Kai ! Whenever you mEet someone, they would automatically think u are one of them. Very rare to see them speak good english. But what I did enjoy was their soup. White soup, afang, atanma etc. No tomato sauce for here o! What they use as stew is pepper soup with white rice. I never tried it. I will contiunue with my article later abeg

lol. that they speak their language doesn't mean they are not hospitable. am from delta state, i served in Ibadan in 2013 and my God even in U.I a professor of english would at first chose to communicate with you in Yoruba. it is a common scene in Ibadan to be in a place where no one speaks anything other than yoruba(not even pidgin) or to be with someone who has a good command of English but yet would stubbornly assume that you can speak yoruba. i didn't hate it, i was glad that at least not all Nigerians have lost a hold of their indigenous language. Ironically i find the yorubas to be one of the most hospitable people i have lived amongst.

it is fair they do, when you realise his state alone accounts for as much as 15-20% of Nigeria's earning. inshort calling it recieve is a fallacy, it is more or less a shortchange because they are only giving him a megre sum out of what they make from his state. also Nigerians should learn to give credit to whom its due, his predecessor's feat combined(including military administrators) can't compare with his. Even my state, Delta state(that earns 209billion) and Rivers(230billion) can not boast of half of what akpabio has provided for his people.

What re u saying? All the pictures posted here are true but when you go round IK you will agree with statement that you still find old houses and huts plus what bolade painted. I observed one thing during my one year stay in IK. The indigenes don't like travelling or go out to see what's out there! They are contented with living in their village turned town.

In terms of serenity and peace Ikot Ekpene my home town can be compared to one of the best in Nigeria.

Neat and quiet..

You can enjoy swimming and make some new friends in diamondleen hotel Ibiakpan or you can chill at the plaza with your family, friends and kids while watching live football on a large outdoor screen for free.

Security operatives patrol the streets constantly and swiftly deal with the unruly.

You hardly get traffic jams as there are functional traffic lights at road intersections.

You need to visit IK to experience it.

Old houses, maybe. BUT HUTS?!! Bros, that's my mother - in - law's home town. So I'm pretty certain you don't know what you're talking about AT ALL. The Ikot Ekpene town is pretty much one of the OLDEST towns in Nigeria, yet you're here talking about huts?! Come to think of it, it's been ages I've seen one even in my own village in Etim Ekpo, talkless of Ikot Ekpene, a commercial hub.

Oh Btw, you do know that IK has some of the HIGHEST property prices in Akwa Ibom State, right. And your talk about not travelling is completely hogwash. So if you don't know jack about a place, then don't talk trash, especially when you yourself come from a jungle or a so-called town filled with brown rusted roofs and human fecal matter on the streets.

So this man can transform akwa ibon like this, while tinubu is busy arranging the most effective tax collecting government in Nigeria , then use the money to plant flowers, while his gullible followers are screaming jagaban! Jagaban!!

The is world class, but i dont see well placed gutters, and i dont see any sign board telling us how much was spent on the road. So more can be done.
