Pls house I need your candid opinion. Am 27 yrs old with a degree, I got undergraduate admission to study business economic in Shippensburg university which will be sponsored by the organisation where I work as marketing management officer. I didn't have GRE but IELTS. What are my chances of getting a visa?

Hello peeps, pls I need your advice. I v been recomended for admisn n ask to send an acc statement showing U.S $46000 b4 my I-20 form will be sent. I intend to sponsor mysef n hv abt #5.5m (abt U.S $26000). What shld I do pls.
My man, did you not calculate the school fees before applying? If you knew you were going to be sponsoring yourself, and you had that much money, you should have applied to a cheaper school. I know for sure my school does not charge up to $30,000. I think you should either apply to another school, or look for a joint sponsor.

We're speaking too much English.
Scholarakassi NEVER tell the VO you applied to one school. For whatever reason. That's straight ticket to 214b.

You're good to go bro

And who says it's a straight denial? @ScholarAkassi say whatever you are comfortable saying.
My advice...tell the truth

Am not in Nigeria. I only need a us line for my fam to reach me on. They will be doing the calling not me.

You can sign up for a $25 a month plan that gives you unlimited minutes with few carriers..or can rely on whatsapp(or any other OTT app)+WiFi to make/receive VoIP calls from your laptop or your cellphone which might work good for you since you get free WiFi in the school environment typically. Some of these Indian students don't have cell phones..

Hope you are aware that schools with MBA programs which do not respond GMAT are not exactly good schools/programs and in many cases the MBA is not worth the paper it is written on?

Worse is some of these programs charge very high prices compared to what is offered.

If you are serious about earning an MBA you should be ready to sit GMAT.

Olabimpesparkle:
Hello everyone, please i need anyone to suggest schools that dont require a GMAT for their MBA admissions. And i would like to know if my refusal to take the GMAT will affect my visa interview negatively.

Do you have work experience? Most schools require that you write GMAT or you have work experience. In my case, I have the latter which was stated as a requirement. Although I wrote GRE for embassy sake.
. Apart from 6months IT and 1year Nysc,I have no other work experience. If I have to take the GMAT can u please give me an advice on a self study plan,I have been using Kaplan GMAT and it's not explicit enough.

So how do u defend it when the VO ask who is sponsoring u and ur respond was ur Dad, he/she requested for ur SOA and saw ur name written on it.

My advice is that u transfer d money to ur Dad account and if that cant be done then u tell the VO u are sponsoring urself. But make sure ur working length, place of work and working experience is very very strong. Like ur av been working for yearsssss... Cos 4 u to av dat kind of money in ur account. U really need 2 defend it

I have already booked interview date with MTSU, but now I'm thinking of switching to Michigan Tech (got admitted to both), because of the relatively better ranking and to raise my chance for visa. However, the program I will be attending is ranked higher at MTSU than MTU. Don't know if the VO will be aware of the details of program ranking or their focus is purely on how the schools rank?

Another issue that keeps giving me concern is my study gap. I completed my undergraduate studies in 2005. I hope this doesn't lead me on a wild goose chase.

Response will be very much appreciated

Boss, You've already scheduled an appointment date with MTSU, i would say you need not to switch since you said the programme is ranked higher at MTSU...and if you can defend your study gap, by telling the VO what you have been doing since you graduated...

BTW, Did you fundings from any of the schools?,..I have a friend on nairaland here who just got admitted to MTSU and he' got fundings..

Pls i have been rescheduled for an interview next week in Lagos after the delay in abuja d oda tym.
I stated aw d interview went buh dont think I got satisfactory enof answers after my bashing cheesy @warriboy.

Please I want u guys to help critically analyse the interview and offer constructive criticism so i can bring my A Game next week by God's grace.
Heres d previous interview:

I went to the embassy for interview for a student visa. All my documents were intact except for my bank statement which had a letter incorrectly misspelt (stg like Adewale instead of Adewole) who was supposed to be my sponsor/uncle.
My experience at the Abuja embassy:
Oyinbo: so ure going to Saint Joseph university in Philadelphia usa?
Me: yeah
Oyinbo: how did you find out abt d schl
Me: was looking for schools that offered the course online when u stumbled on the school alongside other schools of which this seemed the most suitable.
Oyinbo: whos sponsoring you
Me: my uncle
Oyinbo: can I see his bank statement?
Me: yes please(hands it over)
Oyinbo: (looks intently then asks) your uncle...is he your blood relative?
Me: yes sir
Oyinbo: types ...looks at statement ...hands it over and says hes sorry he can't grant me the visa.

Now my qstn. Did I answer any of the questions wrongly or was it just the bank statement error? and I need advice on better comportment and composure cos I intend applying again with a corrected bank statement cos shool resumes august.

Btw...happy birthday to meah today cheesy

If u Dad is sponsoring u, d SOA as to been in his name. Der is no time to start explaining to d VO. Der decisions are make within few seconds most especially if u meet a VO that doesn't have patients. You need to be careful, don't give any benefit of doubt.

As for me am not satisfy wit u reason. Maybe oda guru in d house can contribute and give u an advice

Check @ifecttt interview. Guess he was denied cos of alittle mistake in d SOA (Adewale instead of Adewole) so be wise...

Boss, Do you have the surname with your uncle,. I THINK why the VO ask this is because the school is a private university and the tuition is very outrageous,. And how would an uncle spend a whole lot of money on this...

If I may ask, How much is the total fee on your i20,? How much is on the bank statement?. Do you have any scholarship/ funding / assistantship from the school?.
