Rooney has always been one of my favourite players in the premier league since Alex Fergie's tenure.
He's not the typical mechanical footballer that the English premier league breeds, He's overly technical, skillful and very brilliant with the ball..

come on, his current loss of form doesn't warrant such remarks.

the last man.united match I watched was the one v.p lost a penalty and Rooney played well IMO.

Diego Costa is better than Wayne Rooney as far as striking is concerned.Wayne Rooney is on a steep hill of decline.He is still living on past glories and that can only take you so far.We need a new striker and that is not even in doubt otherwise next season we will all find out what some of us had already found out a long time ago namely..Wayne Rooney is not as good as some think he is

First of all, I play football so I'm not a novice..

any original and real football head would tell you that Rooney was more of an attacking midfielder/ Playmaker than a 'Striker' in United ...

His combo with Van Persie two seasons ago was awesome..
I see him more as a supporting striker and Ferg usually used him behind V.P
the amount of goals he has scored ain't a criteria i'd use to judge his performances..

Becks had retired. He just went there to help them. Rooney is United top scorer for two seasons in a row now.

Until someone comes and score more than Rooney in the number 9 and number 10. Till now, no player has been able to score more him in the number 10.

So they said he was finished in early part of 2010/2011. From August to December 2010 Rooney scored only 2 goals (a worse record than whatever measure used this season). The whole world wrote him off, and I was one of the few who stood by him, same with Alex Ferguson.

In the second half of the season, Rooney scored 14 goals including a goal in the UCL final vs Barca. The following season he went on to score 27 EPL goals and over 30 in all competitions.

Van Persie went 10 matches without scoring any goal in 2012/2013 season. Droughts do happen.

I see Rooney who is still very balanced on the ball and contributing very well. The goals will come next season if he doesn't get injured playing for England or preseason.

When we bought Rooney from Everton, he had just 15 goals in 67 appearances. Yet he was rated very high. Watch a player general play and his overall contribution. When a player like Wayne Rooney adds so much goals and assists, it's a big bonus.

rooney was 18 then, he had just destroyed the toughest defences in euro 2004 back then & he was by far the most talented teen in europe as at june 2004.

his goal stats @everton didn't matter cos he had done it against some of his best teams in europe. if he didn't break his metatarsal during the competition, england would have gone all the way. he had scored 4 goals in 5 games for england already before his injury.

as a striker, if you are not scoring - you are worthless!

predominantly a central midfielder? from that central midfield, players like aaron ramsey & yaya toure scored 20+ goals per season.

of the 33 games rooney appeared, only 14 of them was in the central midfield. he had 19 games in the forward role & he produced nothing meaningful from that position.

even elampawa knows rooney is overhyped. he's the best england has for a long time, this is why the hype goes through the roof.

from 04/05 to 14/15 is 11 seasons @man utd. 11 seasons for a top team and yet rooney cannot win the most coveted prize known to strikers.

Rooney functions better as an attacking midfielder not a goal scorer. You have to understand. If you watch him play closely, you'd realise he's not a traditional 9. He's more of a supporting striker.
Pablo Aimar didn't have to net many goals to be revered in Argentina.
