@bolded
Says who? It's not even in top 50. Neither is it top 100. It ranked 111 according to US news. The most authoritative source for school ranking. Certainly not a school to spend hard earned dough on.

Besides, don't hope on a private school giving funding. They rarely give full and even the balance is usually too steep. Only a select few elite private schools can give few funding. Clarkson is not one.
Bros find another school and do well on GRE and get funding if you can

Hi guys, Visa approved!
Thanks y'all for your help. This forum is wonderful!

I wa the one that posted my mock interview and someone commented: "a stroll in the park".
Yeah, that's what it was for me at the end of the day (a stroll in the park) cos it was a stroll with Jesus and favor worked for me. Lol. I also had a ds160 issue that I said I wantedd to update a new one that won't look like I was helped by an agent; but I still couldn't do that. I just went there trusting Jesus to help me, and yeah, He did; being my Big Brother.

Here's the transcript:
Arrived at exactly 6:30 am. Checked in to final hall around 8:15am; went to the first lady who just captured my finger prints and told me to join the student visa queue.

Finally with the vo...

Me: good morning how are you doing (with a smile, and a sparkle in my eyes) the babe was a fine whitee...no I give it to her, she was pretty, ans she knew I was tripping for her, though I nor tell am o. And besiea I get girlfriend wey I love, wey fine pass am...

Vo: good morning ( blushing); pass me your passport.
Vo: (goes through my documents) okay, you're going to university of... For your mba...
Me: yes I am ( still smiling and looking her straight in the eye; and she was all smiles too)

Lemme better add here that it was God all the way. I kept Psm 40:1-5; Is 54:4, 7; Is 54 as my warring swords; and God showed up for me; like I just came to pick up what He had already finished and packaged for me. Jesus all the way ni o. If you don't have a relationship with Him, please do. I give Him the credit for this.

Vo: which other universitied did you apply to?
Me: I applied to 3 other schoold, alabama a and m, florida state university and florida international university.

Vo: how many gave you admission?
Me: university of bridgeport, and alabama a and m
Vo: so why did you choose UB?
Me: because it gives me exactly what I need to move my buiness to the next level. 1, the course content, one of the core courses is market and research methods, and I need this knowledge for the next phaase of my busineass.

Vo: so what is so special about this school?
Me: (for my mind; nor be the same tin you aske me now and you nor gree make I finish) ( so I finished what I was saying) the faculty is made up of professors who are successful busineass men, and leaders in the business world; the likes of prof. McAdams.

Vo: who will be funding you?
Me: I will be sponsoring my self; though my company has offered to support me financially when I need support, but I am up to the task.

Vo: What do you do?
Me: I'm a business man, I have a company, and I work with the company as the ceo; and we have a board of directors.
Vo: your company or family?
Me: no me and a group of my friends; we're four of us; I am the ceo cos I have the major shares.
Vo: what does your company do?
Me: we have 3 units: 1 ...; 2...and 3...
Vo: when did you finish your 1st degree
Me: 2007
Vo: where?
Me University of ibadan
Vo: what did you study?
Me: Veterinary medicine
Vo: and what have you been doing since then?
Me: : I started my company with my friends and that has kept us busy.
Vo: alright, I will approve your visa, you'll pick it up on thursday. And this form, your i20 keep it, you'll need it when you're travelling
Me: thank you ( with a wider smil) have a nice day
Vo: you're welcome, thank you; and you too.

Dont have solution to your problem, but I am surprised you scored higher in verbal compared to Quant for a technical course like petroleum.
Try schools around Dakota, their GRE requirement are low, Louisianna schools also, but LSU is damn expensive and has more years to comlletion if your from sciences or not core Bsc. Petroleum.
Theres also Uni Wyoming, admission there is straight forward if u get 305 in GRE, (which means u have to write it again) cos they dont bend that rule.
However, Petroleum schools have reduced their GRE marks as students no longer pursue this course since its not viable economically (Job prospect as compared to pre-2014), if it were then admission scores were above 310.

thanks boss, actually am applying for only mining engineering, my hands will be tied even if I want to choose something else. A good number of schools don't do spring admission for sciences n engineering, not for mining tho.

Visa approved today at Lagos consulate, I couldn't really sleep all through d nite coz my time was 6:30am
Mehn I was nervous at 1st when they were placing stickers on passports n none was placed on minemine grin

The white lady with kissable lips interviewed me, I felt like confessing my love for her but the Visa was more important.

Here's my transcript

Vo: goodmorning
Me: good morning
Vo: u re going to university of Texas at Arlington
Me: yes
Vo: how did u get to know d school
Me: I Google searched schools with expertise and research concentration in civil engineering
Vo: how many schools did u apply to
Me: 4
Vo: how many gave u admission
Me: I was only admitted to 3 schools
Vo: why UTA
Me: I chose uta, bcoz I was impressed with their faculty profile, the graduate course cataloge have classes relevant to my research interest

Vo: what does the school have to offer in terms of research interest
Me: the school has more than 15 professors of structures and applied mechanics
Me: they re also building the largest structural testing facility in the country (I was busy making gestures with my hands showing how big the structural facility going to bebe grin)

Vo: when did u finish?
Me: I finished in 2013
Vo: what have u been doing?
Me: I did my youth service from 2013 to 2014
Me: after that I worked in my Dad's civil engineering firm 4 fouR months
Vo: do u HV any1 in Texas
Me: no
Vo; who is ur sponsor
Me: my father

Vo: your visa has been approved come n pick up at the circled location on......

I was really overwhelmed

My advice would be

*Apply to a good school, its better for d school to defend rather u trying to defend d school
*You about ur dept what they have to offer n why u chose d school
* never say u applied to 1 school
* never say u HV someone in d state u re going
* its always good to apply for masters in ur undergraduate course coz it removes d question of why u chose d course
*Pray very well
I'm very Thankful to God
Mehn this trend has been very helpful, special thanks to Slimmy, Walspring I love everybody so much right

No wahala I have heard you. But even as it is 111 is still in the list of the best Engineering schools. And if you read my comment well I said I heard ddnt say i confirmed or that it has been established it is, its just like a hypothesis and a theory, they are 2 diff things. Good day house..... This is benjamin, remember I was denied Visa twice to study pharmacy and I was told by Gurus in the house here to apply for masters since am a graduate or get scholarships to study pharmacy, that it is difficult to convince visa officers how I will pay for my fees considering US citizens studying pharmacy piles up debts everywhere. If you remember my previous interview was denied due to funding because during the interview the V0 was satisfied with me but as soon as he saw my bank statement he denied me visa . My school fees is 6 million and my previous bank statement is 8 million. Now am planning to go for the 3rd time But my sponsor just brought a recent statement which is 11 million and pharmacy requires pre pharmacy before pharmacy school, which means I will be staying a total of 6 years. My question is this since my sponsor could not tender sufficient bank statement, maybe around 30 to cover my tuition. Should I just forget about going for a third time because I have been denied twice and I was denied just last month. Since am a graduate of chemistry,is it better I apply for masters in chemistry. I don't want to waste money paying visa fees and traveling and get denied. I believe in God but a times we have to be realistic and learn from failures. Please I need advice GURUS in the house.

Relax and apply for Msc Chemistry, you need funding for this course cos there is no summer break for you to hustle as you'll ways be in the lab. It's good you package yourself and shoot for MSc Chemistry. Apply to minimum of 3 schools that you at least have a 60/70% chance of funding. Save that visa fee for applications.

congrats to mbenox oyeg and orch.

let every spirit of visa denial be cast away ONLY for sincere students.

All those that are also masking as students but potential immigrants and all those that are seeking to get visa/admission without writing ANY standardized test please have a rethink cos VOs are monitoring the thread.

Goodluck peeps.
