I used my phone without switching off data connection 'because of insufficient data' for over a year. If you know how to use android then data management ain't your problem.

I'll suggest the use of Firewall Apps like Opera Max and Mobiwall to restrict background data consumption..

I use du speed booster to restrict some crazy apps like YouTube, and since then, my data consumption improved tremendously....

Follow who know road. I keep stressing this. Get your damn phone rooted and start using a Firewall app. This is when you will realise that you can use 10MB for one week.

It works on 95 percent of Android phones. I found it not working for itel prime note. It works for Samsung devices except two I know they don't have iptables. That's Samsung Galaxy Pro Y Dous and Samsung Galaxy Pro Y.
I did not exaggerate. It is all about knowing what you are doing. Some apps are data intensive. For example, if you grant Playstore or instagram network access, don't expect the 10mb to last for two minutes. Chat apps and apps that doesn't require background Internet processes should be noted. If I want to maintain my mb because I need to stay online, I may grant WhatsApp only. That means whenever my data is ON, WhatsApp will be the only app to eat the food ( data)
