Human rights abused occurred in no small measure at the early stage of the boko conflict but to ask the authorities to start prosecuting anyone is to ask them to score own goal..... You don't want the boys have a pact with boko to wipe out the population whole they stand afar and watch...... You know how the police and fire service responds to emergency in Nigeria

Really!
The US government supports the armies of Egypt, Israel and Bahrain. The last time I checked the armed forces of these countries have been involved in one human right abuse or the other.

It's high time Nigerians realized that the US govt's continuous refusal to assist militarily has nothing to do with gay rights. Rather the US govt is punishing Nigeria for its continual refusal to allow them establish a military high command (Africomm) within the country.

The way of out for Nigeria
Option 1: Allow the US govt establish AFRICOMM in Nigeria. That way book haram will be crushed same goes for all militias within the country (MEND, MASSOB, OPC).
Oil bunkerings will also be stopped. The downside is that the cabals who are actually retired and serving generals will be out of business. This is the real reason option 1 will never be allowed to work.

Option 2: Allow the universities in the country to lead in weapons research as is done in other countries. This option cannot work because the Nigeria military can never swallow their ego and partner with bloody civilians.

Option 3: Outsource the job to defense contractors such as Executive Outcome. Which was what GEJ did and in six weeks all lost territories were recovered. The downside to this is that you will have a lazy and ineffective army that relies on mercenaries to get the tough job done.

Buhari has nothing new to offer .
This is what happens when you rush to comment without negotiating with your thoughts very well.

Good points though but its too early to start casting aspersion on PMB.

ceometromedia:

Patrick Leahy, an American Senator who sponsored the Leahy Law says that President Muhammadu Buhari should not blame the United States for not choosing to support the Nigerian Army.

The Leahy amendment prohibits the US Department of State and Department of Defence from providing military assistance to foreign military units that violate human rights with impunity.

Owing to the fact that the Nigerian military has been accused of alleged human rights crimes in its war against Boko Haram, the United States had refused to give the country the required assistance.

President Buhari had said on Wednesday, July 22, at the United States Institute for Peace that the law “aided and abetted” the campaign of bloodletting of Boko Haram.

In a response posted on his website, Senator Leahy said he could not be blamed for the atrocities committed by the murderers and rapists in the Nigerian military.

He said:

“It is well-documented by the State Department and by respected human rights organisations that Nigerian army personnel have, for many years, engaged in a pattern and practice of gross violations of human rights against the Nigerian people and others, including summary executions of prisoners, indiscriminate attacks against civilians, torture, forced disappearances and rape. Rarely have the perpetrators been prosecuted or punished.”

“This abusive conduct not only violates the laws of war, it creates fear and loathing among the Nigerian people whose support is necessary to defeat a terrorist group like Boko Haram.

“President Buhari ignores the undisputed fact that most Nigerian army units have been approved, under the Leahy Law, for U.S. training and equipment. Only those particular units against which there is credible evidence of the most heinous crimes are ineligible for U.S. aid. And even those units can again become eligible if the Nigerian Government takes effective steps to bring the responsible individuals to justice.

“I strongly agree with President Buhari about the need to defeat Boko Haram, and I have supported tens of millions of dollars in U.S. aid to Nigeria for that purpose. But rather than suggest that the United States is at fault for not funding murderers and rapists in the Nigerian military, he should face up to his own responsibility to effectively counter Boko Haram. He should direct his attention to the Nigerian military, and the Nigerian courts, and clean up the units implicated in such atrocities.”

But i thought PMB denied making any such assertions? Now beyond being a beggar he is also a LIAR EXTRAORDINARY.

Is this the man to lead us for 8 years?

He is yet to learn that America dethroned GEJ in the hope he will accept and implement the GA.Y law.

We still have a long way to go in international politics.

Funny US, when they invaded Iraq looking for fictitious weapon of mass destruction, killing, maiming and brutalizing the innocent Iraqis, it was cool then, no abuse and violation of human rights in that regard.

Their sponsored uprising in Libya that led to the dead of thousand of civilians was an humanitarian service?

They can brag all they like, do you blame them? Blame those that plunged us into this mess of economic comatose, political quagmire, lack of foresight and perpetual consumers

When buhari was telling gej that war against boko haram is war against the north, what was he thinking? That was clear statement of human right abuse from a US trained general and a former head of state against nigerian military though he thought it was against gej.Now who should we blame? where is gov. shetima, senator ndume, buhari, lai mohammed,el-rufia,thiefibu,ojegun,go n die and etal that were acussing gej of impunity?

Truth be told the Senator just nail it on the head. our Army are animals they treat civilian like criminal.
U should understand that the Us never mean well for nigeria, they would always refuse to assist us whenever we ask for their help. In the case of ebola, we all witnessed their stand. If not for God's grace, they wanted us to perish. Whoever that thinks that the US can do anything good for us is living in cloud cuckoo land.
Re: “don’t Blame Us For Not Supporting The Nigerian Army” – US Senator by Nobody: 8:52pm On Jul 24, 2015
Did they also deny us help during the Ebola epidemic because of our military? What crime have we committed that is worse than what the US military do in guantanamo bay? Do we forcefeed pple, deprive dem of sleep for 72 hrs, pour menses blood on criminals? Does our police shoot down unarmed civilians like dogs just becos they are from a different race? Even the arrested BH members don't get the kinda treatment America gives to free blackmen. Does our military spy on presidents of other countries? However I don't blame them only on the basis that they owe us nothing but when it comes to morality, they are not on a higher ground.

We all know human right to America only means homosexualism

I think you have difficulty in understanding simple lines. Do not let hate of the President affect your reasoning. The senator's assertion is infact launching a scathing attack to the past government. The war crimes were perpetuated under Jonathan and not Buhari's government. Go back to school.
