@myb012 @richcasey @TempusQ
I stand to be corrected. I'll go with @richcasey's suggestion. @richcasey, could you post the CIC website link from which you got the info on changing schools upon landing? I think that would give full confidence and peace of mind to anyone with same issues in the future.

richcasey:

follow this advice below. Land Ontario first, and do the rest when you get there.

Congratulations on your TRV @ dahjor @ cherokee @minnietope

It's always good to see people coming to Montreal. Please let me know if I can be of any help (to answer questions about the city, accommodation, the school etc).

: the offer to help out is open to others coming to Montreal as well.

@minnietope, that's why I PMed you earlier.

Please bros, don't even think of going with palm oil except you will drink it at the airport.....lol.... On a serious note those luggage checkers before you get your boarding pass will not allow that and also kola nut.....
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 8 by montrealer: 12:53am On Jul 25, 2015
There's nothing wrong in emailing CIC but probably unnecessary since someone with a similar experience already shared her experience. Besides, people have always been able to change their institution but usually after landing (crossing the port of entry).

@myb012: it might cost a little more going to Ontario first before relocating to Manitoba but I'll advise to spend the money. You've gone through too much already to get to Canada and be refused entry. #justmytwocents.

IyaEjima:
@myb012

Have ur passport stamped @ YYZ wiv d ON offer letter, go online notify CIC of a change of Sch and move to MB.. Got admitted to UoManitoba 4 Masters, few days after arriving ON and that's what I did. If u r already enrolled in d Sch @ ON (if u paid tuition), pls ask for a withdrawal/refund process and fill d CIC notification form given to u by the Sch too, if any.

thesoj:
What's so scary about emailing CIC? As long as he didn't change his course of study I don't see the big deal. In said email, he would clearly state that the other admission came later, but was his favorite choice all along. He would also say that he will go to the ON school if they advise him to stay with it. These people (whoever mans CIC emails) are humans and they respect honesty not deception. I did give @myb012 the option of emailing anonymously too.

Alternatively he could scour the internet for someone who recently had the same problem as him and see how they solved it.

standupguy:

Bro you are way out of line with most of your assumptions.
Firstly the fastest way to enter Canadian workforce is with a college degree, Msc wages tend to be higher but with your 2-3yrs work experience in Nigeria which is equivalent to zero to the Canadian employer, after your Msc in Canada you will be completing for jobs with mostly people to 35-50 with not less than 10yrs Canadian work experience.

Secondly Canada don't discrminate certificates among there publicly funded institutions and finally PGWP is not insititution dependent.
Ariseocompatriot's comment was just a joke, not a very good one though, especially if i am a student/prospective student at Centenniel. I guess that is why it's a pun. tongue...

AriseOCompatrot:

Oga, did you see the "pun intended" part and broad grin and tongue sticking out emoticons? You should calm down o, life is not as serious as you are trying to make it seem.

First of all, you said i'm out of line with "most" of my assumptions. I made only two statements/assumptions and you shot both of them down so even your introductory statement is incoherent.

Secondly, your conclusion that i have 2-3 years work experience leaves a lot to be desired about your attention to detail. Read my post again. That was in reference to admission requirements for an MBA and not my work experience. If you had been attentive enough, you would have noticed a few pages back where i stated how many years of professional experience I have. I hope you aren't going for a research program o?

Was it really necessary for you to remind me that I do not have any Canadian experience? Isn't that like the common denominator of everybody on this thread who is applying for a trv? How then is that relevant to the discussion? Introducing the issue of competition from Canadians is absolutely beyond the scope of what was being discussed.

I have no beef with whether one applies to college or to university...for goodness sake I applied to two colleges! I was only inferring that Centennial and Carleton not giving me admission is their own loss and not mine. The person I sent that post to did not reply and so I'm really at loss as to the motive behind your intervention. Judging from this unwarranted aggression of yours, I'm guessing you got admitted into Centennial?
AriseOCompatrot:

Honestly, this forum needs peeps like you. With all the tension CIC is generating, we mostdef could do with the comic relief you offer.
The bold comments were not necessary and there was no aggression in his post. He simply misunderstood you.
standupguy:

Honestly there was no single agression intended in my previous post.
He compared MBA earnings to PGD, I merely pointed out the disadvantage.

His post mentioned schools popularity, I pointed out how that doesn't affect anything including job hunting.( His post also agrees with this)

Finally he tried to insinuate that only MBA leads to 3yrs PGWP which is false and misinformation.

The self absorbing, delusion reeking creep can't even discuss the misinformation he went so deep his rectum to pull out

Also not necessary.

Team12:
You misunderstood @AriseOcompatriot...

He meant he would get a 3 yrs PGWP becos his MBA was 2 yrs as against the 1 year prog at Centennial...and I really think he was just talking on a lighter note though. No need to let out all that energy...

@the bolded is sooo outta line...

Congratulations to all who got their TRv and are preparing for travel. All the best with your preparations.

To those still awaiting response, may you get good news upon good news.
To those refiring, hang on to your dream, you will have reason to rejoice soon.
To those seeking admission or supervisors, remember to package yourself well, make a good assessment of your skills and abilities and get the admission committee to fall in love with your brand wink.
Godspeed! Canada awaits you.

This is a great response. But don't you think it would be easier and less expensive for @myb012 if he just emailed CIC (assuming he didn't apply online for his TRV)? In the scenario that CIC changes his DLI, he wouldn't have to land in ON, house himself, go to the school, etc -- this would cost him a lot! Plus, he could ask the ON school for a refund via email.

I agree with @TempusQ, you, and @richcasey but I just feel like emailing CIC is the simplest solution here; this is what I would do. Occam's Razor comes to mind.

The only reason to not email CIC Accra is if there is plausible reason to believe they would prejudice his TRV, which is a nonstarter in my opinion.

For those who have got their trv and those expectant, why isn't no one asking questions about the kind of food to go along with? Isn't that part of 'Travelling to Canada'? Anyway, when it's time, I will ask. Guys in Canny,pls be ready to answer my questions. Who they go read, they chop. I can't fit come and go and die on top book.

I think some point of entry are more strict than others nonetheless, there is no harm trying to bring whatever you love but please, declare them to avoid issues.

Trust me, it's a big risk mailing only, esp if his travel date is close. A friend of mine changed schools and presented d letter from d new Sch @ YYZ, CBSA refused to let her in, until she called someone from the new Sch on phone and d person answered all questions asked correctly, then they stamped her passport and gave her a study permit.
