Not that I'm having kids any time soon, but when I do..... who has some attractive/appealing names for igbo kids? Female, Male or Unisex. And please also write the meaning if you know it.

It's Lotanna which means To remember the/your father.

Lutanna would mean To marry your/the father. Luo is to marry.


Jidenna is also a nice name. Jide means to Hold onto

Especially the ancient names with esoteric meaning, or meanings referring to nature

Igodo - key

Orji - Iroko tree

And I love it when someone bares the market day, so-called "bush" names with confidence Especially Afor. Okafor, Nwafor, Mgbafor

The last time I checked, not a single person in my family bared Chidinma lol.

For male names... I'll leave that up to the individual towns and villages to decide.

It's so bloody annoying. And when people back home ask why you don't speak your parents will join them to laugh at you. As if they are not to blame. Meanwhile I've noticed that this is much more common among Igbos than Yorubas. They seem to almost always teach their kids their language. Odd that we don't.

I always get so weirded out when Enugu indigenes name their kids Arinze. Like why would they do that when they're not from there. I guess the name is now becoming universal? Cause I know some people from Enugu who did that.

Yeah once when I was around 10 I came home and I remember my mum and cousin laughing when I tried to speak Igbo. I honestly was scarred for life lol

Yes, Yoruba kids will always understand even if they don't speak it. Its just in our nature as Igbos to prefer to speak perfect English/Spanish/Polish or whatever they speak wherever they are.

To be honest Im done being angry at my parents about it since they cant even see what they've done wrong lol. Just going to focus all the energy from my anger on actually learning it. Its too much o
