I love love love igbo names, but my own is so boring and not that sweet in the mouth. (Dont ask angry)
Not that I'm having kids any time soon, but when I do..... who has some attractive/appealing names for igbo kids? Female, Male or Unisex. And please also write the meaning if you know it.
My personal favourites include:

Chinazor
Arinze
Makachi
Chinonso
Olanna
Lutanna
(abi is it Lotanna, I'm not sure)
Chinecheta
Onyekachi

cc: igbo people in the house

NOTE: Don't mention that most common name of all that we all know has been used and overused past its usefulness. Everyone has at least one sister, cousin, aunty, grandma etc named Chidinma. So don't mention that name. angry

It's Lotanna which means To remember the/your father.

Lutanna would mean To marry your/the father. Luo is to marry.

Jidenna is also a nice name. Jide means to Hold onto

So learn it. Its never too late. People learn totally new languages in adulthood. You just have to be determined and practice, practice, practice. Good thing you have family members who you can practice with

Oya lets start with this one. What's the meaning of olaedo
Re: Sexy Igbo Names by Gurgle(f): 12:51am On Jul 30, 2015
Nnamani - my father's land

Ajani - sand of the earth

Ani - The earth

Anything that sounds old-school I like cool

Especially the ancient names with esoteric meaning, or meanings referring to nature

Igodo - key

Agu - leopard

Mbe - tortoise

Orji - Iroko tree

And I love it when someone bares the market day, so-called "bush" names with confidence cool Especially Afor. Okafor, Nwafor, Mgbafor

The last time I checked, not a single person in my family bared Chidinma lol.

He is awesome, isn't he? Do you know another group that I like? Desperate Chicks. Although they have disbanded. They speak a dialect that is kind of deep, but the thing sweet die. I have to listen to them a couple of times before I can fully grasp what they are saying. Have you heard of them? One of the group members is now a solo act. Her stage name is Stormrex.

Also do you know Mista Chivagu? Watch his video for "Nganga" and "I done change hand." I believe you will enjoy them and also learn something grin

@ Resident expert (Radoillo) What dialect does Stormrex sing in?

Sexiness is subjective, BUT... if I had to say anything, I'd say that only Arinze can qualify out of all the other names in the OP's initial list. Aside from that, I'm looking at all the names posted so far and I've got to say, una no sabi segzi ma otu. The number one female name on earth should be Alaoma. Hewu.. see chills down my spine. For male names... I'll leave that up to the individual towns and villages to decide.

It's so bloody annoying. And when people back home ask why you don't speak your parents will join them to laugh at you. cry As if they are not to blame. Meanwhile I've noticed that this is much more common among Igbos than Yorubas. They seem to almost always teach their kids their language. Odd that we don't.

I always get so weirded out when Enugu indigenes name their kids Arinze. Like why would they do that when they're not from there. I guess the name is now becoming universal? Cause I know some people from Enugu who did that.

Yeah once when I was around 10 I came home and I remember my mum and cousin laughing when I tried to speak Igbo. I honestly was scarred for life lol embarassed

Yes, Yoruba kids will always understand even if they don't speak it. Its just in our nature as Igbos to prefer to speak perfect English/Spanish/Polish or whatever they speak wherever they are.

To be honest Im done being angry at my parents about it since they cant even see what they've done wrong lol. Just going to focus all the energy from my anger on actually learning it. Its too much o cry cry
