You're computer literate and educated, you could have carried on witb your passport acquisition online without resortinto seeking and immigration officer's assistance. You probably did to get undue advantage and now you rush here to cry wolf because of the 'service charge'. The amount charged you is for running the rounds by the officer to help you get your passport out on time. You could have waited weeks if you did it yourself. Other factors to consider include but not limited to availability of passport booklets.

Before processing your passport, make sure you have original date of birth certificate, original certificate of origin, two passport(your pictures), a guarantor's international passport and driver's licence photocopies and his/her passport. All these will be asked from you during interview. Take along voter's card or national id because they can find fault in your certificate of birth... If you want to pay online yourself, activate your ATM card for online transaction and go to their site for registration https://portal.immigration.gov.ng/... After you register and pay online, print out the confirmatory page and proceed to any immigration office in Nigeria for further processing and take along all the documents I mentioned above... The location is immigration office, agodi gate, Ibadan... when you get to Agodi gate, ask anybody for direction to their office...

Anyone asking you to bring cash is doing this on your behalf with doctored versions of the above documents. Besides its cybercafe guys that will input and if they put in rubbish you will never know.

Take your time and get the above documents kaka22 mentioned because apart from passport requirements these documents are also useful for bursary/scholarship etc.

I would also like to add that the online website uses 2payment platforms.

1. Pay at Bank using payforme or payarena. Go to either UBA, FirstBank Access Bank or FCMB with all the print outs you get when you complete online registration.
Note not all branches of these banks will be able to do this so look for branches of these banks that are in the vicinity of Immigration Passport Office. They will definitely be able to do it since even FRSC payments use the same portals.
2. Debit card. Currently only Visa cards are used on the immigration website so if you don't have visa just use someone else's.


I also want to address questions about passport processing delays because you didn't pay extra. That's not true. There can be delays due to lack of materials either the booklets or the laminate. So if you paid for 32page booklet your processing maybe delayed if that booklet is not available at that time. Also depending on the office you go there maybe longer queues.
If there is delay to your processing due to scarcity of materials then it would not matter if you got official or non official price your passport would not be processed in one day.

Passport process after capture is two weeks maximum. Depending on the number of applicants in that passport office you can get it in 1-4days.

If you do the process right before you get to passport office they will treat with due process. At the very most you will spend a few hours waiting at the office.
By the way even those who spent extra still will waste time at the office. The officers just use scare tactics to make you think you could be delayed if you follow the right channel.

They do say that. I have asked officers not touts officers and they quoted their price.
They even go ahead to ask if someone is 'helping' you.
Its only when you the applicant press further about online registration that they mention you can pay online or at the bank.

If its damaged then you need to get another one.

Follow the same process as kaka22 highlighted which I quoted and do your registration online. Get all documents as listed and do payment online like I said .

You will still take your damaged passport to passport office when you want to process the new one.

Government new approved cost for Nigerian Passport is N15,000. It use to be 9-10k. But NO IMMIGRATION OFFICER/OFFICE in this country will do it at that cost.(Unless you an officer yourself).
The deal is presently the price is negotiable. It ranges from 25K to 28K. It all depends on your power of negotiation and the officer involved.

This is a very good and often asked question.
You can actually complete all necessary application and payment online but you must appear before a Passport Control Officer in your Passport office of choice for 'capturing', production and collection.
During this time, the applicant undergoes one on one interview with a screening officer to establish :
A) That he/she is a Nigerian
B) That he /she is not a public charge and not likely to be one
C) That the applicant has the father's consent to obtain a Passport where the applicant is a minor
D) Others
It is during this interview that your documents come into play.
