I am proud to be able to make this post through experience I have acquired in 20years of driving. I can be called a professional driver because I love driving and have driven far and wide, Covered almost all major roads that link the country. So let's get to what I know to be safety rules on the road. Lesson 1: When you are faced with an obstruction,brake to the most minimum speed and gap between you and the obstruction before trying to steer the vehicle. That gives you better control rather than steering the vehicle at high speed which may result in loss of control Lesson 2: Avoid speed competitions on the road because your competitor might be drunk and a less talented driver who can get you killed if he or she makes a wrong move. Lesson 3: When you see a pothole late never panic. Just tap once on your brake and release before jumping into the pothole. Avoid holding the brakes into the pothole as this may result in an accident. So just reduce the speed before jumping in. Lesson4: Driving sluggishly on the express is as big a risk as high speed because you have become an obstruction to road users and someone not too good at driving can run into you from behind. Lesson 5:Never overtake without taking a glance at your mirrors. Make use of all your mirrors effectively and you will be a safe driver. Some people overtake without looking to see who's coming behind. And when its a Mack truck,you know the rest. Lesson6:Engaging in unnecessary conversations is very risky as it momentarily takes your mind off the road. Make every conversation brief and simple. Lesson 7:Learn to be more patient on the road as a few seconds of patience can make a lot of difference. Lesson 8: Avoid assumptions,aways act with what you have seen but never act with what you expect to be the case. Imagine approaching a T junction at high speed and assuming the car coming from the other end would slow down. But unfortunately if the other driver assumes just what u assumed and two of you approach at the same top speed then there will be a deadly collision. So don't assume,reduce your speed at T junctions and intersections. 14 Likes 2 Shares |

well said When I was still a learner my driving instructor Said "no good or bad drivers only living and dead drivers" As a young guy who has only been driving for 3 years I sometimes feel the need to turn the road into my race track but I control my self except when the road I completely free and familiar |

Nice post. Especially Number 3. I was surprised when my elder brother said he learnt number 3 from me years ago. 8. When you mistakenly drop off the road on high speed, do not try to get back to the road immediately, run for some time on it while holding your steering tight, when your speed has decreased to a manageable level, come back to the road. Trying to get back immediately to the road will result in your crossing over to the other side of the lane, which can cause accident if you are not so lucky. It is called PEDO "pavement edge drop off" Mods please do the needful to save a lot of life. |
