Its 2 months since my family applied for the visa and school holiday ends next week, I'll withdraw the application. Good luck to good guys and girls still waiting.

What good will it do you and your family if you withdraw your application now especially after waiting patiently for so long except perhaps you need your passport back urgently? Even if your family can not use the visa again because of school resumptions; try to ignore them until everything about this visa issue finally unfold. Having waited this long, just allow your patience to see you through to the end. At least we have learnt one or two things from all these sagas. I am still waiting to see what they will do with it. I did not even bother checking on them again.

Thanks. Issue is that I applied with specific dates -uptil 15th September. Now, if they issue it by next week or that date, will they extend the visa or are they likely to give us beyond that date?

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum cos I don't know what to do anymore, I applied for a Belgium study visa since June and I was told it will take 15 working days but it's 56 work days now and I have not hear nothing from them, though I was called for interview on the 4th of August but it's 1 month since the interview and no update from them, I really don't know what they are doing with the process cos a lot of people are complaining about Belgium visa processing time

You are not alone! Some have had worse experience perhaps and a few have even withdrawn their application. Just fingers crossed at this time. But clearly its sad the way they treat applications and I hear its not unusual of them.

Did you apply for Long Stay Visa; D-Visa? I presume since you were called for interview, it means you applied for D-Visa. That means that your file will be passed to Belgium after your interview in Nigeria for final decision. That was exactly how our file was treated when we processed long stay Visa. The Application was initiated in may/June, The interview was around July and the visa was granted around November/December. In fact we had to follow up the file in Belgium before the visa was finally sent to Nigeria. It usually takes between 1-3 months after the interview for one to have the final decision. For Long stay Visa; that is understandable but for short stay visa-visits etc; I do not know why there is so much delay.

applying for visa to belgium is a total waste of time.. you cannot justify the waiting time of 3months. i applied for am exam, they denied it finally after waiting for 2months and 2weeks... you can apply to italy or france they are better, just indicate you intend to vist other schengen country.

TO HELL WITH BELGIUM!!!! what do they really have to offer
I feel you and many have had horrible experiences but the challenge is that if you are visiting Netherlands for short stay visa and you are resident in Abuja or any of the Northern States, the Dutch Embassy specifies that you should apply through Belgium. If you are applying from Lagos or anywhere else in the South to visit Netherlands, you do so through the French Embassy and they are far more liberal/efficient. However, some guys have advised and actually gotten schengen visa to other Schengen countries then from there, they re-route to Netherlands. If you are visiting Belgium directly, then ordinarily, you should apply through their Embassy. I think the Nigerian government should engage the Belgian and Dutch authorities on this. Cant see why Netherlands shouldnt offer full consular services in Nigeria. For MVV (long stay), you even have to go to either Cotonou or Accra, Ghana!

This Belgium embassy are just misusing their power, I see no reason why they keep people's documents for so long

I called the people Belgium immigration today to ask about my visa process and they asked for my visa number which they said is a 5 digit number, told them I don't have that then they said I should ask Belgium embassy in Nigeria for it, I have tried calling Abuja no response even sent a mail, don't know what to do anymore, this is just pure wickedness

Yes Belgium is very strict when it comes to issuing visa, going to pick up my passport today. If you had your 5 digit file number then you could have called the Ministry in Brussels and ask them to tell you the reason for denial and also if you can appeal because they do delay also in returning back one's passport.
Re: Schengen Visa Delay At Belgium Embassy by Mercy1111: 10:28am On Sep 03, 2015
The 5 digits number that was sent to me yesterday alone with the denied visa notice, I called the immigration in Belgium and the said that number belongs to Ayo Ojo and not to a lady, I don't know what is wrong

@Mercy1111
I understand how painful it was to be denied visa after so much waiting but you do not need to call anyone silly. every country has the right to grant or deny visa. I did my postgraduate studies in the Netherlands and now live in Belgium. I can tell you that when it comes to organization, Netherlands is better organized then Belgium perhaps because Belgium is being ruled by French and Dutch part. I also think the mistake in number of your digits number comes from Abuja. I pray another way open for you.

Thanks

@ zik4ever

I have not heard from them. The old woman I filled the visa for is already tired. But there is nothing anyone can do than to patiently wait till everything unfold. They have the right to grant or deny visa. It is their country. The pedigree African travelers have when applying for visa to Europe and America is very low because of the recent immigration issues involving Africans. There are also many African in Europe who are spoiling the image of our country because of all these do or die manner and have succeeded to tarnish the image of the good ones among us. If the same D visa was filled from Netherlands to Belgium for any African, it will not take more than 3 weeks. This delay is because the Visa is filled from Nigeria or that is what I think. I am hoping our country Nigeria will attain a very high status one day

maybe it is good not to call any country silly because of the decision of someone making decision at the embassy. Their decision does not represent the whole country of Belgium. Let us learn to respect peoples decision

I agree it’s their right but it really not good that Belgium will be the one to deny one visa to Netherlands! I wish the Dutch will resume full consular services. Those who use the French Embassy often get positive outcomes and within 3 weeks on the average not a negative outcome after 3 months!

I have not. Like I stated, its based on feedback from those who have used the French Embassy -with appropriate supporting documents and for genuine travel purposes.

Glad to inform you all that I have successfully withdrawn my family visa application to Netherlands via the Belgian Embassy after waiting in vain for over 2 calendar months (about 10 weeks or 50 working days)! The friend, who went to withdraw it on my behalf, said several persons were also coming to withdraw theirs. So much for Schengen visa via Belgium Embassy Abuja! Wish all waiting guys and girls the best. Keep us posted as you progress.
