Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes Cristiano Ronaldo took the credit for Wayne Rooney's unselfish work during their time together at Manchester United.

The pair helped fire United to Champions League glory in 2008, with Ronaldo winning the Ballon d'Or the following January for his efforts the previous season.


However, Ibrahimovic feels Ronaldo would not have been able to shine if it wasn't for Rooney's hard work.

"These great players, they have their moments over one to three years. But to continue over five years, for 10 years the way Wayne Rooney has done is not easy. It's pressure everyday playing for a big team," Ibrahimovic told the BBC.

"He runs a lot, he fights a lot, he sacrifices a lot,.

"When he played with Cristiano Ronaldo all the work was done by Rooney, but he didn't get the credit because Ronaldo was scoring all of the goals.

"I'd prefer to have him in my team than play against him. I've not been lucky enough to play with him but I enjoy seeing him on the pitch - if I cannot play with him, I will watch him."

the government to ban mike dean from any arsenal game till rapture.

especially when the FA banned costa retrospectively.
normally, after mike dean carded costa, there shoulda been no retrospective ban.

Ronaldo has been consistently playing on a higher level than Rooney will ever dream of. Doing it in more than one league and winning balon d'or when playing in them.

You are also trying to down play Ronaldo's acceptance that Rooney helped him by saying 11 players helped one another. Is that not hypocrisy?

Ronaldo did not mention Giggs, Carrick or any other he was sure the person who helped him.

As for Ibrahimovic, I don't know if he has anything against Ronaldo but to a great extent what he said about Rooney's game is correct.

Decent but dangerous. Jones is unsteady when in possession. He sometimes thinks for too long which can cause problems for the defense. Moreover I don't think LvG will shift Blind away from the LCB position. Maybe Jones will just replace Valencia at RB.

Stop being clever by half abeg. We have always told you on the this forum not to use the opinion of one person to generalise.

Who are the people that have downplayed Rooney's achievements in United. Anyone United fan or not that says Rooney has not done anything for united is a bloody liar and hater.

No true united fan will say Rooney has done nothing for the club, that person must tell us the period he feels that way to be clearer.

Rooney IMO can be regarded as a united legend but thetruth is he has been serving us hot watery shyte for like 2yrs now with good excellent performances popping up here and there.
