But you open border for free import of rice

Funny set of people

If you don't no what to do, hand over to Osibanjo cheesy cheesy
Are you serious? You want the country to ban importation of rice when the federal government just want to start giving out loans to farmers and prospective farmers. Do you expect the rice to grow within a day or you want buhari to place bam on rice when we can't yet boast of self sufficiency. What a dumb Biafra you are.

I think a better option is to do a reimbursement at a fixed price to rice farmers. If you harvest say 10 acres, you can claim say 20,000.

Government can also take over the milling and packaging of rice, thereby creating a local market. And also buying off the product at collection areas in the production zones. This can be done by state governments coming together, but they all wait for oil money to squander.

Everytime he is set to launch.
He was set to pay oil marketers but now we have scarcity.
He was set to clean up the niger delta waters but I guess he forgot.
He has been set to do many things but the only thing he actually did is nothing.

Why giving loans at that outrageous interest rate to farmers and opening up ports for importation.

Are we that stupid in this country?

Off what benefit is it, to giving agriculturists advance loan a with interest rate at 9%, when the comptroller general of the the customs, Hameed ali has opened up area outskirts to rice merchants?

I was going to cheer the plan until I saw the loan fee - an astounding 9%. This soured the plan. Around the globe nations extremely aware of fortifying their economies particularly modern profitability, in which loaning and getting are vital, have their key loaning rates going from 0.1 to 2%.

Considering this incentive project is intended to animate rice cultivating, which would serve thepurpose of making employments, give moderate sustenance to Nigerians and stopping the huge outpouring of capital by means of rice importation; I would have thought some about the reasoning heads included in this advances plan would have think of intrigue under 1%. Around the globe, real sustenance creating nations have uncommon obtaining rate for agriculturists, and that is notwithstanding other "indirect access appropriation" plans like low yield protection, brought down rate for homestead apparatus, fuel and government financed master administrations. It appears Nigeria is yet to find the enchantment of offering charming motivating forces to ranchers... that is the base of industrialized economy - a great course out of the desensitizing over-reliance on oil by Nigerian

Thank you for this. I thought I was the only one who saw the interest rate.

We keep paying subsidy on fuel consumption that is not having any positive effect on our economy instead it keeps draining the FG purse. Instead of us to stop the useless subsidy and divert the money into agriculture.

The effect will be too harsh on ordinary Nigerian. I know but its something we will eventually do.

If we can afford to keep using our funds to block the bottomless pit of subsidy, I see no reason why the government cannot provide the loan at less than 2%.

I don't blame PMB and I still blame him. Coming from CBN headed by Emefiele who has proven to be grossly incompetent or intentionally trying to sabotage the government. This is a litmus test for the Finance Minister and the Minister for Agriculture. They should call the president to order on this.

incidentally ibos are t'he biggest beneficiaries of project NIGERIA, their land is not fertile and they contribute very little or nothing to t'he national purse, yet 40percent of them live outside their region, overstreching t'he facilities of other cities whose leaders have toiled over years to build, yet they go about it with utmost disrespect to their hosts. I doubt if they can survive 5 years outside nigeria.

Yes, you will see it as a wrong step because you've not secure loan before. If you go to bank now to ask for credit/loan, they charge at an interest rate of minimum of 25% but CBN wish to give it out to farmers at 9%, and you see it as a wrong move. I don't think any reasonable person that has been taken loan will reject or say it wasn't a good gesture.
I think what you should be saying is how government will close border for the importation of rice immediately the produce began to mature for harvest to create market space for their product.

Well, is not every one God gave brain that he/she uses it. Have they even started the cultivation let alone harvesting it? I think there is a timeline for rice cultivation, if today borders are closed, how would the populace eat rice. I think what you should be agitating is FG should give timeline for the closure of borders to create market space for them at the point of harvest, not now that we don't have what will carter for the teeming population, since is the most common staple food in Nigerian homes. We're not stupid in this country, is those that cannot use their brain well, that are stupid.
