That practice of using O'level to grade points has gone into extinction in UI.

O'level Requirement

With 5credit passes in core departmental requirements which includes Mathes and English, you're good to apply.

Awaiting Results in O'level is acceptable.

2 sittings are acceptable in all Faculties and Departments except College of Medicine, Pharmacy and Law.

UTME/Post-UTME Requirements

Subjects entered for in UTME will be the same to be sat for in Post-UTME.

Minimum score requirement is 200 and above to qualify you for Post-UTME.

Post-UTME performance solely determines your chances of being admitted or not.

All the best.

2015 NNPC/MPN Undergraduate Scholarship Awards As part of support to educational development and human capacity building, Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN), operator of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)/MPN Joint Venture awards annual scholarships to qualified undergraduate students in Nigerian Universities. Applications for the 2015 NNPC/MPN Undergraduate National Scholarship is now open. GEOGRAPHICAL COVERAGE Awards will be made to qualified and suitable students who are currently admitted in Nigerian Universities irrespective of state of origin including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). HISTORY Since 1974, ExxonMobil upstream affiliates in Nigeria – Esso Exploration and production Nigeria Limited (EEPNL) and Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN) have supported the education of thousands of Nigerian students through the Companies’ various scholarship schemes. Undergraduate Scholarship Awards This program is funded by Mobil Producing Nigeria, operator of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)/MPN Joint Venture. Since 1998, a total of 500 undergraduate scholarships are awarded annually. This is a significant increase on the 13 awards offered at inception of the scheme in 1974. The awards are made to suitably qualified students from every state of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). However, about 62 per cent of the total NNPC/MPN Undergraduate scholarship awards are allocated to students who are indigenes of the operational communities/ States - Akwa Ibom (50%) and Rivers States (12%). There is also a merit award (10%) to the best 50 candidates in the selection tests. The remaining places go to students from other states including the Federal Capital territory (FCT), based on merit and fair geographical spread. The current scholarship awards are for disciplines in Engineering (Petroleum, Chemical Mechanical, Electrical/Electronics and Civil,) Geology/Geophysics, Medicine, Agricultural Science (and related fields) as well as Computer Science. Other schemes sponsored by this partnership include the NNPC/ESSO National and International Postgraduate Scholarship Awards. These scholarship programs are amongst several initiatives by the ExxonMobil upstream subsidiary companies EEPNL and MPN), along with the respective partners and co-venturer, to help build capacities of young and brilliant Nigerians and further boost pool of qualified manpower for career opportunities in Nigeria and abroad.

Fear not, no more 'ORAL TESTS'.

After JAMB you'll write Post-JAMB to further screen applicants, this exam was introduced to replace the ' ORAL TESTS'.

Gone are those days when it is mandatory to have 5 distinction before u can secure medicine in the University of ibadan.
The new admission policy reckons with only post jamb.
That means the cutoff mark is derived from post utme score.
Let me use this year cutoff for the department of Medicine and surgery.
The cutoff for medicine for the 2015/2016 was 74.
Four friends Ade, bisi, femi, and niyi had utme score of 266,234,279 and 276 respectively.
Ade and bisi had seven distinction and two credit.
Femi and niyi one distinction each and eight credits.
Ade, bisi, femi, and niyi had post utme score of 63, 74, 69 and 76 respectively.
The cuttoff mark for mbbs was 74 and bisi and niyi were selected regardless of their utme score and olevel result.
A total of 109 students were selected on merit.
There is nothing like catchment or elds in ui

There is no catchment but there is elds. Aldo d cutoff will likely be 2 marks below merit. Every uni has quota for elds

pls guys there is fire on the mountain. I just came across this link where someone was denied admission because his Neco O level result was more than six years. Well my case seems so pathetic. I had a D in my English in my waec but in my neco its a C5 parallel but its a result of 2006. And its almost 10 years now. Though i had been in the university in my state but later dropped cos the course wasnt favourable and i later did business to hustle up money for school. Now am back and wanna choose UI by God's grace.. I just found out that all the federal universities in nigeria will reject a NECO of more than 4 years.
I am really nervous and in pains now as i dont wanna stress up again to write waec and all those stuff. I've really been thru a lot. Though i'm 24 years. Pls will this affect my admission chances at U.I?

Lemme share this with you.

I've got a Cousin that finished secondary school pretty early and have been writing JAMB since 2005.

Her O'level

She didn't credit her Chemistry in WASSCE but did get C in NECO, while her NECO English was E8 and in WASSCE it was C4.

She wrote her 10th JAMB last year and was admitted with these results into Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, Umuahia.

Hmmm Christ pls i need your help. Cant just surrender off cos of O level. Pls before i call the number tomorow. What do you even think? And your cousin was admitted into michael Okpara university with her O level result since 2005. But you cant compare It with U.I now. Cos the latter seems so strict. And while going thru this year's admitted candidates i saw some more senior candidates admitted into u.i from the age ranking of 25-30) didnt they still use their o level of a decade of years ago? So damn confused and sad.
