kayjasper: read properly.. the reason is that there is a rematch clause in the contract signed by fury.... if Klitchko decides to take the option, they will fix a date for rematch and in the mean time, the winner will be stripped... if there was no rematch clause, he would have kept the title and fought the ibf preferred challenger....Glazkov  1 Like |

kayjasper:No bro, it is not confusing or wishy washy Journalism as you wished to call it. Fury was expected to fight IBF mandatory challenger Vyacheslav Glazkov as he is the next in line to take a shot at the IBF title, but Fury signed an agreement prior to the Klithscho fight for a rematch if any of them wanted it. And Klithscho has taken that option, hence Fury decided not to fight Glazkov, so that he can fight Klithscho again. The other two titles remain because they are two different sanctioning bodies altogether. They are independent of each other. 1 Like |

dominique:It is because IBF is one of the four sanctioning bodies in boxing. They don't have the right to strip him of the other two titles from the other sanctioning Bodies. All the sanctioning bodies are independent of each other and they have different ways of ranking boxers. But seriously speaking, this is one the criticisms being levelled against Boxing. People are calling for a unification of these sanction bodies because the only difference really is the names. WBA world boxing association, WBC world boxing council, IBF international boxing federation, WBO world boxing organization..They all rate fighters in the different weight classes and they each have there own "world champion". When a fighter has all the belts, mainly WBA,WBC,and IBF(these three are the main ones), he his regarded as the undisputed champion of the world. I hope this helps a little bit 1 Like 1 Share |

The belts are managed by different bodies who also have their own rules and regulations as well as contenders. In cases where a boxer had won all titles previously and a contender (contender acceptable to all three bodies) challenges him, if the contender wins, he automatically gets all three belts. However while holding the newly won belts, some of the bodies may mandate him to fight their own rated challenger for that body's belt. If he refuses (maybe due to contractual clause mandating him to place all three belts on line for a rematch) he may lose that belt. This is what happened to Tyson Fury ....he had a contractual agreement with Klitchko for a rematch staking all three belts which may be affected if Tyson loses the IBF to another contender and hence he will be liable to breach of contract. dominique: 2 Likes |

Some of u still asking how and y he was stripped of the title, did u read d post downside up or upside down?? D post clearly stated dat he refused fighting the mandatory challenger for the IBF title which he clearly deems not so important. D nxt option is to strip him of the IBF world heavyweight title on account of his failure to defend the belt against the mandatory challenger, Vyacheslav Glazkov since he choose a rematch with Wladimir Klitschko. Though he still retains the WBA and WBO titles which is what's on the line for the rematch with klitschko. |
