It doesn't work like that, once your within the blast radius its pretty much over.

I live about 3 km away from there and when the explosion happened our windows were vibrating and we could see the smoke, some ashes flew into our compound. I thought it was Boko Haram. Might be more than 30 killed there.

Until we take safety seriously in Nigeria we will continue to record incidents like this.

Expert firefighters should be an integral part of d plant.

You would be surprised that the gas plant owner was advised to put in place fire fighting equipment in place but trust naija businessmen, they cut corners thinking that they are saving money but on the long g run, it would be a colossal damage both in properties and money

Adequate risk assessment of daily operations to nip at-risk behaviours in the bud
No anthony401, i disagree wt u on gas fires. Fire enginesmanned by seasoned firefighter and equipped with foam dispersant medium fights gas fire. Use of automated sprinkler cools flash temperature. Good safety culture by Mgt could prevent incidents like these.

Fire service should be more proactive and dedicated to their duties just as the season where are in calls for their services and people should be more cautious this harmattan especially those handling inflammables.

There is no law or policy for fire and explosion prevention and mitigation.
Even if there was,they owners will rather bribe the regulatory officials.
Now the unspeakable has become inevitable.

Bros we need a grass root reorientation in a form of new country. Nigeria is marked with essence to get rich or acquire money quickly without the incorporation of common sense. Nobody should be allowed to operate LPG plant without a simple automated device to spray retardants on accidental fire.
