I honestly used to bash parents that take their kids to this kind of schools, until I had an encounter with a family friend's son who was in SS1 in one of the schools mentioned here.

A look at his maths assignment gave me a headache, the boy was solving a math I first saw in my 3rd year as an engineering undergraduate Eng305(engineering mathematics 1) to be precise. Not to talk of the kind of friendship network they build up for years there while acquiring an education.

My kids will definitely go to these kind of schools when they start coming.

99.9 of children in this schools are children of our stealing politicians and friends who helps them to ferry the money abroad. Pen rubbers.

Poverty is truly a curse, Nigerian pliticians are old people they shouldn't be having primary or sec kids save for those with numerous wives, however, there are successful businesses in Nigeria that can afford any of those schools.
Some companies even pay for their staff kids to attend those schools.
An average company owner can afford these schools, you guys are too wretched to think straight.

There's a school In ibadan where the school fees are abt 1.5m and they have ( no lies) a mini stadium, an helicopter, extreme facilities I live in ph and I've not seen any school as good and I'm serious! Google lifeforte international schools!

Why do we go to these British schools? They teach us that Africans are inferior. How many of these kids have knowledge of self, know of neocolonialism, can grow their own food, make their own food. Why do we go to these neocolonial schools to be educated to feel inferior?

lol..............too late for that.....I can still remember how shocked they were that 'kpako' children like us won them in a quiz...I think you r slightly wrong to say 'education is mostly value for your money'...kids can still go to those expensive schools n turn out as dumb as dumb can get...In 2006 or 2007, a public school student was chosen to represent Nigeria in a competition in Washington DC...this boy faced about 200 opponents from various countries n came out top...in 2008, I n 2 others represented my school in a debate against a private school n we won hands down....so no be only by money o...Merry Christmas

I beg to disagree with someone dat is saying a public skool student will still beat Dem in any competition. Yes its possible but we don't see dat all d tym, even wen we see, its just one in a million, dats God given genius talent, but how many of such kids do we see around. Alot of public skools teaches poo. I use to attend one public primary skool, I was in pry 6 and went for pry 4 entrance exam of a private skool, I still cldnt pass before my mum pleaded with d reverend sister to assist me in pry 3. immediately I got to dat skool my life changed. My conduct and way of life changed. If u have d money, pls forget about public skool and send ur children to private skools.

I'm definitely giving my kids the best things of life,irrespective of how much it would cost me.

True but the likes of Wole Soyinka, Fashola, Amaechi, Otedola n co didn't attend such schools but they turned out well today, my point is that its not all about the school but the kid .....

No set of schools represent Nigeria on competitions than these schools. The issue there is you don't hear much about it because, for the schools, it's not much of a big deal. Before I started teaching in one of the listed schools, I once taught in a lower one where such feats were put on the newspapers, school's website etc.

You may not see students from these schools win the Cowbell competition and the likes, but what they learn goes beyond that.

Your argument is based on what I'll call escape-poverty tactics. It's the way we were all brought up, our distinguishing factor
- to pass exams, make first class etc. Why? So that we can get good jobs.

One of my students right now is currently a member of the board in his father's company.
So, what do you think he needs? Pass so that he can get a job?

Competition, year , winner etc that would have been more ecstatic than the songs of praise you just wrote.

Education is not meant to be privatize. The effect of these privatization will eventually brings segregation between the children of the rich and poor which will greatly affect our society.

Children of the same peer group should think and compete with each other evenly not by segregating them by the schools they attend.

We have a long way to go with this type of system. Development will be less visible if the children of the poor is not given the same opportunity to compete with these kid attending these over priced and corrupt private institutions.

It's a shame!
