I will never be cajole by David post, the baby is yours by the DNA proof and her mother is still her mother whether by flirting, married or whatsoever is unnecessary. David needs the baby mama consent before taken her baby abroad. This is Africa mentality that need to stop, husband family do think they have it all. Thanks Dele is there for her sister. I wish to critically analyze this story from a holistic viewpoint. First, I will start from Davido's public statement because it provides a glimpse of early beginnings. This is a family matter, however, both parties have conducted themselves improperly and allowed private matters filter into Public domain. Consequently, the public is entitled to express their own opinion. Davido in his press release indicated how young he was and how he fell under the manipulative influence of his lover at the age of 21 and such incidence brought into the existence 'a love child'. I find such statement very stupid and immature to utter. He also included how poorly educated his lover is and tried to buttress his point that his lover is a street girl. The popular phrase says birds of a feather flock together. If Davido was not in the street preying around he would not meet her. He should also be knocked back to reality and understand that he dated the lady and as such loved her company and the by-product of their happy times was a baby. Davido also claimed that he makes monthly payments to the mother of his child and went as far as indicating the amount. A reader would wonder from his statement if he was performing miracles such as walking on water. Regardless of his intention, Davido must realise that by getting his lover pregnant, he changed the plan of the lady and should be held responsible. He should appreciate his present situation because, amongst some ethnic group in this country, such situation results into instant marriage. Also, there is nothing so much or little one can do for his child. Furthermore, Davido must appreciate the fact that it requires two persons to make a baby and each partner has an equal right to such baby. He may be right about the conduct, attitude, upbringing, moral values of the mother of his child. However, he cannot deny the lady access to the child. Based on the lady's petition, it depicts clearly that Davido abducted the baby from the mother against her will or consent and without any court ruling. I wish to also inform Davido that it is within the purview and right of Dele Momodu to consider providing financial support or not to his niece. However, trampling on the rights and privileges of others is a grave offence and every Nigerian must frown at such conduct. In conclusion, Davido and his family are morally wrong for abducting the child against the mother's will and consent. They are also morally wrong for try to fly with the baby without the mother's input or approval. I support Dele Momodu for utilising his influence to stop the Adelekes from trampling on the right of his niece. However, I am a bit disappointed that he went on social media to express his point. Both parties must seek ways to address their concerns. Family meetings can be held and grievances can be resolved. However, where such medium is unacceptable between both parties, the matter should be left for the Court to decide. |

hemdy4all: Whether the Baby was infected or not, he still requires consent from the mother of his child. That baby still requires motherly care and love. Let the Court decide on the capacity of the lady to provide such care. |

Two things are to be considered here viz: *Davido has only made mere claims that the baby's mother is a cannabis addict. For the court to take him seriously on this, he needs to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the lady is indeed a cannabis addict. For all we know, He could be lying. Perhaps, trying to whip up sentiments to his side from the little-informed public. *Even if the baby was truly infested with massive dosage of cannabis, it's still not enough a justification to attempt travelling with the infant without her mother's consent. If he wants to take the baby's custody, all he need do is present a medical report from any reputable hospital to that effect. Otherwise, the court will dismiss his claims. So, from whichever angle you want to approach the issue under the law, Davido is bound to lose the case if it becomes a court issue. So, the best thing to then do is what? Simple, let them settle it amicably off the social media. I think the elders in the respective families have some work to do here; talk like adults and sort it out. 1 Like |

Davido made mistakes; he was involved in some irresponsible behaviors that resulted to this lovechild. However, he has taken responsibility for his actions, he has been committed to the upkeep and care giving of his child and also the baby mama. The baby needs medical care and that should be the priority of both families on this matter. But the both families have chosen to fight dirty. Davido has a good case in court if the mother is proven to be irresponsible and unemployed. Maybe he can be granted custody of the child. Better still, he should abandon the child and responsibility to the child and mother until the custody of the child is granted to him. |

Classic picture of how "Big" people oppress the poor in Nigeria. If this girls family was not able to fight for her, Davido and his people would have used money to take her child from her. Today it is Sophie, tomorrow it may be someone close to us. So far this sophie seem to be calm and is not running her mouth and trying to say the few secrets about Davido she knows. Boss13: I stated my opinion and many would share it!! You may see my point if the paternity of the child is in question, as is often the case with women of low sexual discipline! A woman should be more disciplined sexually than a man BECAUSE the paternity of her child SHOULD NOT be in question, if only for the sake of the child's future!! In this case, the baby mama's 'freedom' or 'feminism' is affecting her Baby's health and her capacity to take care of the child! Marijuana et al! I hope you read the news to see how anti slut shaming, equal right to promiscuity thinking is destroying the western world as there are too many single mothers because more guys are losing interest in marrying women who are free to cheat on them!! Many of these 'free' single mothers end up having babies for 2 or 3 guys and are unable to raise the children well!! |

Wallade: Beign unemployed does'nt mean the mother is unfit to care for her child. Not every mother works. Some moms prefer to stay at home and raise their children. That is why fathers or the wealthier of both parents pay child support. Esp when one is working and the other is the one having to take physical care of the child. |

When the custody of a child is in issue the court looks at certain factors before granting custody but the child's INTEREST is PARAMOUNT. Generally, the custody of an infant is awarded to the mother but when the mother is incapacitated or is found to be of bad character (eg when she is immorally loose) the custody of the child in question can be awarded to the father. Where the court finds both parents wanting, the custody can be awarded to a relative of either of the parents or to the Children's Welfare, depending on the circumstances of the case. In the instant case, if it can be proved in the court that indeed traces of cannabis were found in the child's system and the mother's system as well, the child can grant the custody of the child to Davido but will allow the mother visiting times with her child except the court finds her violent. If Davido is proved to also be involved in the consumption of cannabis and the court is convinced that he is not fit to take proper care of the child, the court can award the custody to a responsible relative of either of the parents eg Dele Momodu's wife. It will be quite unusual for the court to award the custody to the Coco who is still single and may not know about what it takes to raise a child properly. The parties involved should head to court asap. However, I am not very comfortable with the fact that the mother was almost successfully bribed with a car. My question is: If Dr. Adeleke had kept his promise of buying her a car, let's say he bought her a new Prado and if he also bought a new house in Banana Island for her, would she have raised an alarm when their baby was being taken to Dubai for Medical Check-up? I know she later said that she didn't want the car and the money anymore but her baby, but wasn't it rather coming late.... Also to Davido, why do you detest the mother of your beloved child so much all of a sudden just because you met a model whose figure is not yet affected by childbirth? So you were stupefied? Do you really want us to believe that? So she is older than you? Was she using anti-wrinkle cream when you first met? If we say no to jungle justice or police brutality when a suspected thief or armed robber is caught even in the act, why then do we think it is okay for David to use his money to carry a child out of the country without due process. Do you know that anybody could give any reason to buy pity and justify their actions? Your wife may have some domestic problem with you and plan to run away with your kids and when caught or stopped she may claim she caught you foundling the childs privates when you thought she was sleeping and when confronted you threatened to kill her and the child thus she is afraid for her saftey and wants to run away. Then, people will stand by her and even push for your arrest. Even if you werent the most perfect of dads and husban. Even if you were not faithful to your marriage and slept with your wifes best friend, was such an accusation fair? |
