I don't think any adult should wait b4 marriage to know thier blood group and genotype. One should have done all this test wen U hit adult age at least two times to compare.Now OP.if the re-run test of the child comes bck as SS then husband and wife need a serious rethink about having kids. SS kids are hard to manage and it brings sorrow tears steals away happyness and the overall reason to marry.If the woman gets pregnant again there are test to show if baby is SS or not. But untill then they just ha e to manage the symptoms of any ailments that comes. 1 Like |

Genotype doesn't change. It is one of two outcomes: 1. The hospital mis-classified your husband's genotype and led your family into this situation - Medical Malpractice. 2. He presented a false report to ensure your marriage - Fraud. If you can prove its the hospital's error, you should get them sued and if your husband is guilty of false representation, you can..... ....its up to you. 1 Like |

Let him learn to start drinking lots of water from now onwards. I'm not saying its a cure, but it helps reduce frequency of crisis. This was the advice a doctor gave years back and it still help bearing in mind that the first thing the doctors do is give you drip. May God help you manage it. |

Sorry for your situation sister. It's a pity the innocent boy has to suffer for an error committed by adults. I don't think medicine has answers to this issue on ground. I have seen people's genotype reversed from AS to AA. Only God is the available option. Last week a 16 year old girl who just got admission to read medicine in Uni illorin died because of this same disease. MAY GOD SEE YOU THROUGH! 1 Like |

Honestly speaking, this is what have being going through for the past 17yrs concerning my son, mix up in genotype....first, AA and when we discovered that the boy is SS, we checked and it was AS... but ours is a bit different because up till now we have not recorded any serious crisis(TO THE GLORY OF GOD), The boy is now in the university now hale and healthy to the Glory of God. Let me advise you on three things to do. 1. take the child to sickle cell foundation, opp LUTH @Idi-araba for consultation. 2. Register the child in any General Hospital for periodical check-up 3. Hand over the Child to His Creator with strong faith that He shall live but not die. 16 Likes |

Get a second and even a third opinion, if the result remains the same then accept your fate! You are better off divorcing your husband and moving on with your life because he would want to have more children and you wouldn't want to bring more SS children into this world. There's also the option of having tests results during future pregnancy to check whether the baby is SS or not, this way the pregnancy can be terminated, this option however is very costly emotionally and physically. |

Just do a rerun of the test at any of the teaching hospitals and if it true that ur hubby is an AS.u can then proceed to sue that laboratory that issued the earlier test result as AA. you can sue them for medical negligence as well as damages for psychological and emotional torture they have caused as a result of their negligent act. |
