A ghastly motor accident has claimed the lives of six m3mberw of the poltechnic Ibadan, amomg them, students amd staff.
The accident occured on at about 6pm Monday along Oyo/Ibadan Expressway.
The accident involved a Hummer Bus of the Quantity Surveying department of the institution which was conveying some students and staff of the department to Oyo.
It was gathered that the tyre of the 18- seater bus burst in motion and the bus somersaulted. Four passengers reportedly died on the spot while two died later at the Adeoyo State hospital.
The injured persons were rushed to the Oyo Town General Hospital for treatment. Information was sketchy as at the time of filing t his report whether the number of casualties had increased.
New Telegraph however quoted the Public Relations Officer, of the insitution, Mr Soladoye Adewole, as saying:
“I just got the news not quite long. We have not been able to ascertain the number of deaths, but we have actually recorded some deaths. Our Director of Medical Services and Registrar Mr Ezekiel Fehintola have gone to the scene. We have not been given full details of the incident”
Every school activities has been suspended till next week

People are dying in this country daily from accidents. I blame the youths for all these...not demanding from our leaders. Yes death is inevitable when its time, however accidents can be prevented with good roads, traffic regulations and most importantly improvement in the socio-economic status of the people which in turn make them to value their lives and drive safely.

RIP...very sad a loved one or friend will leave in the morning, maybe the last you will see them...by Nigerian standard.

Returning to my house this evening, i saw crowds everywhere in my neighbourhood crying, wailing... Everyone of them, from young to adult bitterly lamenting, .. Shops closed, U wouldve tot a President has just passed away as everywhere stood still. Every single persons were discussing how they still laughed at d jokes he passed at them last night, how very nice, humble, respectful, YAHAYA WAS, I dont know if ve met him before in the neighbourhood but from what i saw dis evening... A Loved Gem just left this cruel world...

of course we enjoy driving fast at very high speed, yes most of us will say can control the speed, but can we control any emergency occurrence, such as tire bursting or brake failure...

it's much more easier to control this two occurrence if we go at a moderate speed....

I have been driving for over 8years and I have never experienced any of this two but I know it might happen, so am prepared and that is, I go at a moderate speed...
