The only person I don't know in this pic is the guy on the right.
Zeusd3:

This post is so right I served in bansara, ogoja. N transport fee to igoli from bansara is close #1000 n I have to go 2 clearance. To clarify us all it was July 5th nt 2nd...
You forget to mention that an average women in cross river is slim shade.... U hardly find a fat woman (calabar nt included).
The average age of having sex is 12 years of age....N early marriage is a norm there.....

I almost redeployed because of ishibori girls...truth to God...

correct guy.....Calabar was the place to be...14C...na later Municipal Gardens show...my fav joint was the bar by Mary Slessor Statue after Rabbana...I fear Calabar South ehn..boys dere no get joy
iamgiggssleaky:
I served in cross river as well, calabar to be precise 14C.

people go to work around 6:30pm in the evening and when I say work, I mean grooving. A typical cross river man is very lazy. the women dictate the pace for them. all they know how to do is groove groove and groove.

the most happening place in town is atekong drive off Marian road. if you've not bin there, yhu are wrong lol. I mean, the money people spend on oloshos and in the beer parlours around there can eradicate poverty in Nigeria for good.

calabar south is seen as the hood for gangsters and there's a set of boys called the "skolombo boys' who are the most dreaded group.

hotels are everywhere in calabar. the people there lack a whole lot of business sense.

CDS was fun for me cos I didn't have to wear my khaki there. I was the Crosskopa no1 goalkeeper.

shout out to other CrossKopa14C here present.

Lol.
Op dun touch down my state. I have been to almost every region in Nigeria believe me never seen a place like cross rivers.
Everything you said is valid but for;

Rurality- did you cover the southern part?
Akampka, yakurr,Obubra, ikom etc. & even if there should be a heirachy of most developed(urban) LGA's in the state bekwarra will be amongst the last 3. However I do agree with your input that the government should focus evenly on all parts of the state asides from cali.

Education; Lai Lai.. Yu dun go east? What about north. Even some parts in the west.
Omoh for this level we pass many.
I schooled in Maryknoll and Fedsco and majority of students in school came from different states all across the country.

All in all you on point.
For that witch aspect,no juz go ther o. I laugh when I hear ppl say na benin juju don pass.

You no enter ranch?
I also schooled in Fedsco. What year did you graduate?

My NYSC Ogoja experience has been the most interesting year of my life. I served in their state university and y'all know what that means.
Some day I wish to write my memoir about this 1year that has changed my entire life. #Team14C

Nice one op. But I'll make some corrections. It's Agbakpa and not Akpakpa. And Agbakpa is Ogoja while Afrike 1 (a.ka. Okpeche) is Bekwarra.

Point 1 and 2 I agree with you.

you like to argue!! Abakpa is in Ogoja while Akpakpa is in Bekwarra after abuochiche.

I sat in my father's shop at No. 10 mission road reading my elementary text books when suddenly two Peugeot cars pull up in front of the shop and a man in kaftan with three soldiers walk into the shop, "small... (pat me on the head) where is your dad, I want to buy things" he said. The vicinity became frenzy as people thought my dad was in a kind of trouble and stayed away. I became more afraid and run to call my dad who was busy playing draft at ogon street with his mate. But while leaving to fetch my Dad, the mystery man quietly settled in the wooden stoll feeling relaxed. Dad came and mystery man made purchases valued over 3000 naira and it change the life of my dad.

My dad instantly promise to send me to school to whatever level I'd want because of the big break in fortune though he didn't keep his words.. Lol.

Mystery man turn out to be the Military Governor of Old Rivers State in the person of Col. Anthony Ukpo. So this is the same man I with other street kid usually chase his helicopter to the bishop court in igoli ogoja each time he is in town. The same man in my father's shop.

Igoli ogoja was fun. A sleepy town with all the fun fair. Maybe I'll use this opportunity to recount my experience of the town I love so much and wish I'd live forever
I can totally relate with that. I am from mbube, was born and bred in ogoja. I miss that town everyday and all my friends.

Swim some Rivers in ogoja and die. The water spirits or rather cult group will take you and even tell your rescuers when to come for your corpse if they'd think you're just drowning?

Only in ogoja I try urinating in a gutter and to my amazement live band was playing as the water travelled down the gutter after heavy down pour.

Bekwarra:

You nailed it bro. You remind me of when one Hausa guy on Obudu street waylaid me at night and warned me to stay off his chick. Imagine o because the guy get Suzuki 120 wey he dey use rock the girl. The girl come see Lagos boy to ta lenu, the guy they para dey tell me say he go stab me. About that of storey building, I stayed six months in Bewkarra and I didn't for once see a storey building in the whole LG until I got to Afrike. Ask for Benji (share the money) house in Okpeche-Afrike. The house is a wonder, the man is stupendously rich and a politician in Benin Republic. A power broke in CR North. The senator representing CR North Legor Idagbo is his boy.
@ bolded legor idiagbo is an Hon. in house of reps, not a senator.

Haha...op is using south west as example of academic excellence. Much of South west except lagos is just as bad as north in terms of education.

when u have nothing to contribute about a topic, keep off! there are more industries in Aba alone than the whole of cross river, Bayelsa and akwa ibom put together. The person who made that claim is looking for 'mentions'. Calabar has no economy and now full of destitudes. It is among the falling cities in Nigeria.

I saw your thread in the s£§¤¤\!+¥ section & i know you are a bit familiar with northern cross river, get your facts right b4 u rush to correct someone, the OP is right about AKPAKPA whc is in Bekwarra and not AGBAKPA as u said, the AGBAKPA u are refering to is ABAKPA in Ogoja LGA. {Proudly Bekwarra}

Go out and taste good and better food.

That's what is currently killing me here in Oyo state! Ibadan precisely. Can only see tomatoes & pepper everywhr.

-It's only in calabar u see men 7am on a. monday morning at d bar drinking already..
I was never more surprised the day I came across a lady ordering for beer while doing her makeup(before going to work o)
-ure a racist if u eat pork but not dog in calabar.
-its only in calabar u find 10 barbing salons,10 beer joints in just one street, haba
-it's in calabar sets of small small boiz attack you with knife and obtain u.(scolombo boiz)
-it's only in calabar that the next thing after Jamb is computer training.
-its only in calabar a cab driver parks in d middle of the road to pick or drop a passenger and every oda car waits patiently behind without hooting. (I asked a driver once;oga u no dey use trafficator?he said when I get hands)
The state is simply overhyped. Majority of their(so called) fine girls are short and have big tummy. U will run if u hear their accent and diction sef.
the laziest set of people are from that state
Plus Accommodation is ridiculously high
The hardworking and good cooks in calabar are eida ibo ppl or akwa ibomites.
I can only give them credit for serenity, good roads and carnival.
