I use a 2.5kva generator and It powers my 30A smart charger. The light will just blink when you power it. The generator doesn't change sound.
how many hrs does your 30amps smart charge your 200amps battery

Generator will blink if you turn the knob up to max.

Valto, I don't too much trust these smart chargers.

Mine charges and turns itself off when the battery is supposedly fully charged. But I know that it isn't.

and what is the Max? 30A? that's 12v * 30A = 360 watts. Let's say 400 watts to cater for heat losses. I don't think a 2.5kva generator would shake with a 400watts load. I mean, I use the generator for my 1200watts iron when PHCN misbehaves.

Only used generator to charge it once. It took about six hours in total

Well I guess you have to consider that there are other things on the gen than the charger.

Salute to everyone here..oga Ceejay... I doff my hat chief! Been following this thread for months or so but never got round to setting up due to one ex use or the other but now, I think I'm ready with the fuel and NEPA wahala. I have a few questions one of which is this:

Concerning the 20A or 30A charger, how do you guys charge when I've also read that they need very powerful generators like 3.5kva? We have very VERYYYY poor NEPA power in my area so heavily rely on gen but if my regular big size 2.5kva can't power the 20A charger how do I now get to charge the batteries. Please advice. Thanks

My brother, I don't own a generator but I believe some of our friends have answered ur question, check posts above

No be here Ooo

Hello ceejay80s, I live in Lagos, which solar panel should I buy - Monocrystalline or Polycrystalline?
Re: How To Create A Locally Made Inverter With Ease by Nobody: 9:45pm On Apr 07, 2016
My Generator is 2000 watts maximum output (2.5KVA), it can carry my 30A charger plus other loads (TV, Laptop, Lights etc) - the engine is set at high.

Hello ceejay80s and all others who shared a bit of information or the other... I've been spurred to assemble a 200w solar panel, with a 10a to 60a MPPT charge controller, to a 200ah battery connected to a 1000w inverter today. So I'm still testing, will probably create a thread to give more details, but felt indebted to every contributor here who's input taught me a thing or the other.
By the way all parts were sourced for in Ibadan. No be only Lagos get better things.

Chiefff!!!! I want to be like you ooo.....no GEN!!! Means you still get electricity supply from NEPA like 5 hours or more daily to charge your battery array! We get NEPA supply in my area too daily its just that its averagely 5 minutes daily. We need to talk Oga Ceejay....wanted to do something on my own but for your service here, I think we should work together.

I guess what you have is a 24v solar panel?

Whatever the case, the 40volts reading is why you need a Solar Charge controller. If you pass that solar power directly to your batteries, na fry you go fry am be that... grin

lolz, even one supplier told me to just connect directly and start using. i refused, after reading the voltage with meter. i cant afford to damage my 200amp battery i bought 70k in this hard time. 30amps solar charge controller is on the way.
