Hmmm, Rivers State Government maintaining civil servants salary is paid up to date. What happened to those of us who were not paid February salary, does it mean that February salary for those has entered voice mail? And the way March salary has lingered, let what happened in February not happen again. Oh God, a labourer is worthy of his wages...

Instead of blaming the governor,u guys should rather blame the real ppl behind our misfortunes. Those worthless pieces of trash called administrators at the the schools board. All they know is supervision upon supervision. An ordinary personnel audit they were instructed to carry out has become so difficult or should I say impossible.Just go to the board n c d mess they ve made of the whole exercise. This shows that they don't know their job and all this while they hv been sitting in their offices doing nothing, that's if they come to work at all.The names are so scattered that it is almost impossible for someone to spot his/her name. How won't mistakes b made with this much incompetence?Tell yourselves the truth pls,the board has been n will always b our greatest problem...

Well, that's a good point you made but have you thought of the fact that the so-called Board isn't an autonomous/separate entity from the Rivers State Government? Would Wike pretend he's not aware of the salary logjam? Why is it that nobody has resigned for gross incompetence? Why hasn't somebody been fired for causing untold hardships on hapless workers? Why hasn't any official statement been released by the governor himself in relation to the wicked delay of salaries? If he's not part of the problem, why hasn't he addressed civil servants already? Well, I could ask plenty of whys. But I guess the answer lies exactly in the obvious fact that this is really what the "NEW Rivers vision" is all about, right? By the way, what is really new or ingenious about putting old wine in a new wineskin? Or can a leopard easily get rid of the spots on its skin? Indeed, old habits really do die hard. Even the much maligned Amaechi didn't treat us this bad. It's a shame how myopic we Rivers people are. It's a big shame!

the immediate past administration is better in terms of civil servants' salary payment, now the workers now pray and begged the government to pay them.

it is too early for the state government to be treating workers this way.

Our leaders are not concerned about us, when they need our vote, they will come and tell us how they're good and the other person is bad, all the blah blah blah... and those who have not satisfied their need for belongingness(Maslow’s hierarchy of need), will jump into believing and supporting without critical evaluation.

Same thing is applied to the labour unions, especial NUT, what they do is to collect monthly union dues from salaries and share, not to speak of any ill-treatment of it's members.

On the individual level, sentiment and party affiliation has clouded our reasoning, ......

Let me ask, between your monthly salary and the N2,000 they shared to you after a political gathering(which is very rear), which one is more important?

Please, forget Wike n politics for this matter.U cannot drag Wike into this.Remember what the ministry tried to do during our recruitment process? That they were about hijacking the process, that led to the state house of assembly inviting the then commissioner of Education. This is their mess n they gotta clean it up.My only beef with d governor is the fact that he has not made any statement about the issue, just like it has always been whenever we re being owed like this.If money has been released and we are not paid, trust me,the governor has played his part. You are talking about the governor, what about NLC n TUC who deduct money from our salary ever now n then?Have they said anything?Pls,we should channel our grievances to the right quarters.....Is Wike responsible for some schools getting paid and others not getting paid last month?Do u really think this is a mistake or is someone trying to discredit the process to cover some ghost workers?Or is it cuz some nincompoop could not do his job competently? This guys at d board cannot be trusted or relied on for anything.

as a hungry civil servant like me, I will blame the governor but the truth must be told that our problems are created by our boards which any of us might be transferred to at any point in time. There are so much manoeuvring going on there. I know of some guys that are suppose to be in GL8(3) but their records in the board shows GL8 step5. I also know of a person that is Late and salaries and manupulations are going on in the board. This is the various Hinderances we are facing but you know that it is not easy to fire a civil servant. The Board also lack workers with good administrative skills and they dont have proper details of all their staff and that was the essence of the last comprehensive form we filled. I am not standing for the Gov but these actions are sometimes common within any new administration that claims to be sanitising the system. My Oga Amaechi did it, Dickson of Bayelsa also did same and salaries of some ministries were suspended for months. Lets just be hopeful

Governor should do fast to address this issue, let him fetch out those who are responsible for our unpaid February salary, and find out their motive towards it. Truly I am not happy, for up to 16th of April no February salary for most of the devoted workers, and no March salary for almost all the civil servant in Rivers state. But I strongly believe that my God will come to our rescue. If really that those behind it, do it for selfish purposes, my God shall visit them one by one. Please let our dear governor do something before some set of people will discredit his government. Those at the board that are not effective should be change and redeploy to another ministry or department, also government should replace them with good, able, effective and dedicated ones to do the job.

If my memory serves me well, I remember that it was because of this same incompetence and underhand practices by the Board that made Ex-Governor Amaechi ensure that our recruitment was outsourced to and handled by a competent private HR firm. Now, with all this gross incompetence being exhibited by the Board, imagine what would have happened to our recruitment process. Many better qualified and competent candidates would have been dropped while the grossly incompetent ones would have been recruited just because they know somebody who knows somebody who knows the oga at the top. Nepotism, instead of merit, would have been the order of the day.

My dear, my position on Wike's part in all of this is simple: As the Chief Executive of the State, it's his responsibility to ensure that all government MDAs are running smoothly, as any misadventure, if not checked, could undermine his credibility, integrity, as well as his much touted "New Rivers vision", because after all said and done, the bulk stops at his table.
