I hopevu knw that this man did that boy a favour by cutting off only his hands? In some communities he would hv been lynched as well thereby loosing his life too! That boy would've upped his game to become a full fledged armed-robber.
prefer death to this. Believe me this boy will become hardened cause he had seen it all.

You really did see that didn't you?
What state in Nigeria did you live?
Kano, ibadan,Lagos, onitsha, owerri,Aba and brief stints in akure, osun, Abuja and Kogi state. I don't think human beings exit in Lagos! I consider myself a full Nigerian with some level of understanding of her humans across cultures.

All of you here who says the man is sharp are evil and been stupid.

The amount of people crazy in Nigeria is not small. Research shows that 1 out of every 4 people in Nigeria is crazy. Believe it or not you, there's a high degree that you might be crazy.

How can you call these good Why don't you show your savage acts to the politicians who makes you suffer every day? Instead you fools remain ignorant and be the puppets and slaves of those MENTALLY RETARDED UNSTABLE politicians.

If these was done to your child or brother or even sister, will you be happy? Oh! you think it can't happen? you'll never know the situation that takes over people. If we knew what's gonna happen in future, you wouldn't all be so ignorant.

Can you even say this in the presence of whites people without ending up in a lunatic asylum? And yet you idiots want to live in a country as good as USA & Co.

I dare someone to create a thread on this topic on REDDIT. Foolish ignorant people.

I see people saying "what if he wanted to poison you?". I say you are just trying to justify your craziness.
Accept the fact that your crazy.

Using a stick on it does not mean carrying a heavy plank to destroy the hand...something like a cane to make him quickly withdraw the hand. The man's action is barbaric

Stealing in such way actually barbaric...that's why he got a 'barbaric' response.

If he had not taken that action (to steal), he wouldn't have lost his hand.

Please note that I'm against all forms of stealing.

Crime does not pay.

I am not saying that the nemesis he met was the best, but all the same I do not feel sorry for the boy.

There are millions of people in this country in dire straits and far worse physical and / or financial conditions than the thieving lad, but they are daily braving the odds trying to make an honest living and not resorting to a life of crime. We all come across some of these poor but honest people everyday in one way or another.

Perhaps the owner of the phone's method was excessive, but then again you cannot be sure of what / how many of such robbery experiences he may have had in the past that may have conditioned his response to the situation. Not that barbarism should be condoned, but still a bit of humanity ought to be shown in the exercise of jungle justice.

One thing for certain is that the boy would not be stealing anything again for a very long time, probably for life. In fact, henceforth the devil may not even bother to tempt him anymore. So that is one less thief we have to worry about.

Plus, many others like the boy in question would learn from the lad's experience and change their ways. That is good too. A lesson learned and a deterring example that crime indeed does not pay.

Then let this form of justice cut across board. Next time your kids take money or any of your belongings, pick a machete and slice off that hand okay? This is justice and it's humane.

If only the Saraki's of this country could meet such swift justice for their criminal excesses. Not in the same manner, but equally swift, sure and appropriate for their offenses. Nigeria would be so much better for it for starters.

I have been robbed 3 different times. The 3rd one was worst because they also stole what belongs to my customers. Which I had to pay for. So if i see a robber in my house the fourth time. And i have a Cutlass and a gun, what should I do? I should sit back and let them put me in trouble again? I should start paying for what i didnt do? If i can kill a thief I'll do it because of what they have done for me. Some customers even said I was lying. That i was never robbed maybe I've sold their laptops and giving them story. Thank God I and my mum reported to the police immediately it happened. There was also photo evidence. Yet dem collect their money oooooo.

Omolola, the person who got his hand amputated was not a robber but a burglar. If robbers come to your house they knock and you walk to the door and open it with your hands. You will think clearly about doing something irrational that might lead to your death. You won't do s.hi.t. What that man did was wicked and if we lived in a normal country he would be prosecuted (and he might still be prosecuted). He would have to prove beyond reasonable doubt that what he did was in self defence. Robbers don't stretch their hands through your windows with burglary proof; they knock on your the door and you let them in.

how did you tru to teach Nigerians to show more humanity to each other? You mentioned in your first post that you did that but some people attempted to take advantage of you in the process.

They never knocked and i never let them in. I can't start going into details. But they all seem to be burglars because I never saw any grown ass man wielding a pistol at me. The first time it happened. I was still in school back then. Finished my assignment around 4 am, closed my laptop and decided to have a little sleep before I start preparing for class. Only to wake up an hour later to see that my new laptop has been taking through the window. With my phone and my brother's. Now this was in 2008. You should know how much a brand new laptop cost back then. And it was not even 4 months old. I lost lots of documents and other valuables. If I was awake and i know how much laptop cost me, please tell me i won't do anything to that hand to save my laptop and my phones.

To me, he is still lucky.

What kind of human beings give people jungle treatment? heartless human being I must tell you.

Unless someone pose a direct treat to my life , which I have to act in defence. I can't you cutlass on a fellow human , wheater a thief or not.

whenever I see people giving jungle justice to anyone irrespective of the crime , I see them worse than the person they are dealing with for the crime.

Y cant he beg since he is too lazy to work for it. I don't think d man intentionally wanted to cut off his hand maybe he wanted to give him evalasting mark and dis happened. Its a pity but he should learn his lessons because next time they fit burn him alive.

They stole from you in this instance. You were not robbed. You were asleep. if you were awake they probably wouldn't have bothered. You wouldn't have needed to cut of anybody's hands. The justification for self defense is if your life was in danger. In this case you described it wasn't.
