The story would have sounded nicer to me if you had gotten some thugs to beat him up well with a good belt and whip and probably break like 3- 4 fingers, he would surely think twice before beating up another woman just cos he feels she is at his mercy.

I'm sure that would have been soooo good, it never occurred to me then that I could get back my own on him that way , I would have sooo loved it to get him beaten up by men his size. Lol. Thanks

pls women are not all the same. Even though i have a problem with the northern way of life, one thing i can vouch for them at anytime is dat dia wives/women are generally humble and submissive, dey dnt compete with their men. Dey are easier to deal with than most other "civilised" women. I dnt like Islam but i tink it helps make de kind of women most men want-submissive wives!

So your point is that all Northern women are submissive and good. Anyway, I have to accept your point of view since I have never dealt with a Northern woman.

The situation is bad no doubt, but there is a lot of pressure today in our society especially in family life. People are so so angry at so many things or everything.
People need counseling that is the truth. To send a wife beater to jail isn't the solution but to help couples cope with their differences.

@ GloriaNinja, women being independent would not stop an abuser from doing his thing. A lady very close to me who has her own business (and doing great) went through serious abuse for about 5 years. When I say abuse, I mean serious “panel beating” – days of broken hands, red eyes, etc Cases that she ended up in hospital for days. She was not only abused physically, but even verbally and the man collected every kobo she made from her business. She finally “escaped” to America and the last I heard the stupid man was begging the woman’s family to send his wife back to him.

Yes you are absolutely right, domestic violence can happen to any woman regardless of their status. this is becoming very serious, domestic violence is now a big trend in Nigeria, makes marriage sound stupid and makes a lot of girls afraid to get into one.
