I read up on all the amazing benefits of green tea and was intrigued. Some of the merits of drinking green tea include detoxification, appetite suppression which invariably will lead to weight loss, improved heart health and even aids in clearing pimples and acne (I think this is where detox comes in) etc.

This week I rushed and bought a pack of fragrant green tea, with a twist of lime and lemon. Yummy!

And I've been regretting wasting money since then.

I thought this shaitza was supposed to suppress appetite? My God, it is having the opposite effect on me. I've been drinking this stuff since Tuesday and the kind of hunger I've been experiencing is baffling. It is strange and unusual.

When I drink it, I experience temporary nausea, and when it passes, THE HUNGER takes over. After eating, I become hungry after barely two hours. Today I was weeping inside me because I felt the kind of hunger refugees in wartorn countries must be feeling. Right now I'm hungry again

This is not normal because all those I've spoken to tell me green tea suppresses their appetite.

Doctors in the house, can you give me insight why my own case is different?

Excessive hunger is a symptom of diabetes or hypoglycemia ( low sugar) . Maybe the tea suppressed your sugar levels , more likely . I no be doctor just random thoughts

Ah . Dont fear .. lol . Ive experienced excessive hunger before . It disappeared after 3 days oo . I prayed too . Ive not experienced such hunger . Immediately after eating , hunger'd strike .

You'll be fine . Desist from taking the tea though but immediate medical attention'd be advisable oo .

oh well maybe because you have low tolerance for caffeine, and green tea contain caffeine and maybe you over consume it.

Not really. I've been drinking caffeine all my life and it doesn't affect me.

No I don't think I over-consume it. I soak the bag in half a cup of water. Medium sized cup.

My own experience with green tea is insomnia, heart palpitations and a whiff of nausea. I've been reading about the amazing anti-oxidant qualities of the tea and decided to try it out. I'm not sure if it affected my appetite (my appetite is not so stable, there are days I eat like a horse and days I can't get myself to eat more than a few bites at a time) but I realised I couldn't sleep and my heart beating like it wants to explode from my chest. I've read all around the pack of the tea for active ingredients so I can Google them, but I can't seem to find any. Leaves me no choice but to keep it away.

Actually I've read that green tea is also good for weight loss. it could be the make of the you bought that is giving all that appetite. You can try out another brand.

Ha! I thought all Green Tea are the same?

Goodness, so I will have to embark on trial and error...

The brand I bought is 'Ahmad Tea'. If I try another brand and the same thing happens then I will have to keep off completely. I didn't drink the tea today and thankfully I didn't feel the insane hunger, but I found myself craving to eat even when I wasn't hungry. That's bad news for a weight watcher

Sometimes what is good for Mr.A is a no go area for Mr.B. I haven't tried green tea though, so don't really know much about it.

First of all I want to let you know that Green tea is a herbal product that functions by increasing anti oxidant activities in the body. And since you just complained about these side effects, it means you're reacting to the substances in the tea like Caffeine and polyphenol which have been known to induce nausea. However you can still safely take your green tea by taking note of the caffeine level (high levelling is bad) and add little milk in it before drinking, inorder to soothe the stomach acid which causes hunger. Or you take it alongside your meals.
