1.Do aeroplanes have ignition keys like cars?

2. What does it mean when a pilot says he's performing a stall test?

1. Some smaller maller planes like those for training have, bigger ones don't.

2. Slowing a plane in mid air so the wings stop flying because there's not enough on the wings to produce lift. It's usually for experienced test pilots but all commercial pilots are trained on how handle stalls.

good morning boss, I had lots of passion for aviation and I was opportuned to have little knowledge about the aviation industry through a late uncle who worked at the airport. Had a training in ticketing but my passion is either piloting or aeronautical engineering training . Please how can I reach you sir? Thanks

PM sir

Why do aeroplanes sometimes overshoot their runways when landing. Is it that the pilot did not calculate adequately before landing or the traffic controller did not do his job well?

Combination of several factors including some you mentioned

Good day Captain, please what's with the turbulence when airplanes pass through clouds and how do you guys navigate through. I had a very terrible experience in one some years back. More grease to your elbow and aircraft.

Some times, weather formations can make the flight a bit bumpy, sorry about that sir.

Hmmm....belly landing is the way! Moving on.... when on these longggg flights. .. is not like driving a car in that you always have to be paying attention to where you are going .... swerving from clouds or other aircrafts. ..... what on earth do you guys do?....like be replying to us here?...or playing Candy Crush?!

LOL, the most important thing is for us to stay alert and in the process we read aviation stuff, chat with colleagues, listen to music, occasionally report our locations, etc, however we must always be alert as there are things that require our attention at intervals.

Read aviation stuff? ...that one I don't believe! Moving on.... is all this ehmmm... flexing done in the cockpit....which to me barely has room for the two pilots.... or is there like a little lounge up front? And is the captain's seat the same as those in First Class?...or ehmm ....more luxurious like with built in massager and more?!

@boeing777pilot hello its me again. I think by next month I'll be starting my training. In the school they use sling 2 and piper twin comanche for multi engine. I don't want to spend much time in ppl course so I don't know if u have ppl study material in soft copy u can send to me to continue reading before I go there. I got 1 and its faa curriculum. I just got to read about pre flight inspection. And I noticed if u r going to read a study material u should read d 1 approved by d flight school in ur country(south africa).

lets talk about helicopters: Today we have the Sikorsky S-92 heavy lift helicopter

The Sikorsky S-92 is a four-bladed twin-engine medium-lift helicopter built by Sikorsky Aircraft for the civil and military helicopter market. The S-92 was developed from the Sikorsky S-70 helicopter and has similar parts such as flight control and rotor systems.
The S-92 is multi-purpose helicopter powered by twin GE CT7-8A turboshaft engines and has an aluminum air frame and some composite components. The four-bladed fully articulated composite main rotor blade is wider and has a longer radius than the Sikorsky S-70. The tapered blade tip sweeps back and angles downward to reduce noise and increase lift. Most of the rotor system components aside from the blades are titanium. This helicopter has a carrying capacity of 19 passengers and two flight crew.with space for baggage's.in the rear. it has a cruising range of 151 knots=(280 kph) and maximum speed of 165 knots (306 kph) maximum altitude of 14,000 ft (4,270 m).
Sikorsky helicopter has a 5 high definition glass cockpit with full auto-pilot and flight computer system which virtually flies it self in any condition.. very capable of automatic approach,Hover and automatic departure. this helicopter is the most preferred for search and rescue operations world wide and top demand for oil and gas logistics to and fro platforms.

Berra believe sometimes it's boring to be a pilot. tongue
The two seats in front are identical and there's a crew rest area or sometimes we chill in first class or business class section.

I thought it can be boring for a pilot... but now with all this chilling in the crew lounge rest area ... hmmmmm... this is interesting! While chilling.... what do you guys be sipping? ..non alcoholic...but is it the same as you serve for the destitute passengers in economy section?.... or do you be sipping on Bailey's? ... or other top shelf stuff?... and don't even try telling me soda and orange juice!...and is your food special?...or from the same pot as everyone else?

I'm not a pilot yet but from what I learned, pilots are not supposed to take alcohol or intoxicating substances for an interval before and during a flight, usually determined by the airline. Also they do not eat the same meal because of safety concerns. Lastly, being a pilot can be boring especially if you fly the same routes regularly, even long-haul. I heard they can read newspapers, novels, etc but may not make use of their mobiles. I advise you to get some cockpit view videos of short flights on YouTube or jetstream.tv for klm flights

Hope you don't mind the following questions
1. How much exaclty do commercial airline pilots earn in Nigeria?
2. Can you briefly share with aspiring pilots like me how and where you got trained. Did you have sponsors?
3. How easy or difficult is it getting a job in a Nigerian airline?
4. Do you spend so much time away from home?

Very true except that we are not allowed to read anything apart from aviation stuff and use our mobile in the cockpit except you are in the crew rest area.

No alcohol consumption at least eight hours before flights, some airlines is twelve hours.

1.No idea, never worked in Nigeria but some airlines have better pay conditions than others.

2. PPL /CPL South Africa, type rating USA

3. Just keep your ears to the ground and network with aviation professionals in the industry, it's usually faster if you are already type rated because the airline doesn't need to spend resources training you .
I was privately sponsored.

4. Yes, I do, kind of. I operate intercontinental flights and usually work for around 20days / month, the remaining time is split between stand by and off duty.

During our time in the simulators, we practice alot of emergency scenarios that's is exactly like a real life situation. This prepares us for any eventuality.

If the landing gears don't deploy, we information ATC about what's up, we circle round the airport so dump fuel to reduce possibility of fires, brief the pax about the situation and get them into brace position, line up with runway and do belly landing and deploy the spoilers once we hit the runway.

Hopefully yes.
Isn't it better to land on the grass rather than the runway in such a scenario?

Why are parachutes hardly deployed in emergency situations like engine failure et all?

I believe every passenger has one underneath their seat. And it's the job of the hosts/hostesses to put them through.
