You totally hit the nail on the head, grandfather ko great-grandfather ni, ki lo kan mi, if I born for America before they send name I don put name inside b.c so that name they send na inside akosile e go dey not on top of birth certificate, I won't risk the opportunity of giving my children a bright future for grandparents to attend the naming ceremony, to me all that feferity no even matter, my prayers over my child and the host of heavens agreeing with me over that child is what matters abeg, to fulfil all righteousness the rev father can christen the child officially sha while i'm still abroad with my husband, o pari. As for Muslims I know my cousins who are Muslims had Sunnah and they kill ram and shave the hair of the child on the naming I learnt it's compulsory for them.
Killing Ram or having a big ceremony is not compulsory for Muslims if you cannot afford it. All you need to do is invite the Islamic clerics to the house on the 8th day and they can name the child that day. Shaving the hair is compulsory though.

Sugah ma, Muslims don't name children on the first day oo. We do it on the eight day just like the Yoruba traditions. I'm Yoruba and Muslim. Hubby is Christian tho, but he's insisting we will have a naming ceremony even though we live in the US. I'd love to avoid it altogether. Yoruba parents usuall know the name of the child and if you live in the US it's already on the birth certificate, but they usually don't reveal the name of the baby until the 8th day naming or prayers whatever the case might be. I'm still debating if I'm gonna shave his head or not Sha. Still undecided.

Stanbic, first bank and fcmb cards seem to still be working for off shore transactions . But beware people the rates are still up there. Stanbic still look like they have the cheapest rates they charged below 300 bucks. While First bank was 350 on Thursday night.

Wolefola,
Please can you tell me the name of the hospital. Thank you.
jinglesbaby:
Hi Wolefola,
Congrats on the success of ur missionary journey!
Please, kindly pm me the details of the doctor and accommodation that you used. Also, is the hospital good becos someone gave me negative reviews about them? That someone was trying to sell her maternity package to me which included hospital+doc reg, acc, transp, weekly grocery shopping et al!
Which airline did you book ur flight with? KLM/Airfrance?
Also, how long did it take you to process all the docs for ur baby?

Thanks.

Hello everyone, trust you are all doing good,Thank God I had my baby boy via C-Section on Monday at HNMC,I used Dr Morgan, intially I was pissed about aving a repeat c section but I am glad a did cos my baby weighed 4.4kg,I don't think I could AV survived pushing him out of me. Everything went well, they were not able to give me epidural cos for some reason it wasn't staying so I was put to sleep. So far everything went well I am good and my baby is healthy no complications,I AV paid my bills paid,3k dr fees and 3500 hospital bills and 750 epidural,I was discharged and I got a letter from d hospital stating I AV performed my financial obligations, however I am still expecting the pediatrician's bill, when I called I was told my son's info wasn't yet in their billing system and I should check next week.
But I must say HNMC wasn't nice when it came to giving free things,I was give six 40mls similac, and 10 diapers and a pack of baby wipe. And they wore a top for my baby through out our 2 night stay, the top was old and worn out,I wished I had brought my own stuff from the start.
Anyway boy is doing good Alhamdulilah

Unless u av so much time on your hand to wait for the pead bill if not go to their office at the hospital and request for your bill or else dey might say u do not qualify for healthy baby package and give u d standard price after one month.

I use my GTBank mastercard with the 'pay in Naira' option.
Amazon will show you the rate as N208 to a dollar, but that isn't what GTB will charge you.
GTB will deduct from your account, their current official rate.

Currently, GTB uses the N340 to a dollar rate to make their deductions for my amazon shopping.
Hope that helps.

Stanbic doesn't accept anymore. I tried it over 6 time last week and even 2 weeks ago. The payment method was rejected after about 2 days of placing the order. I called Stanbic and they said I should choose the 'pay in dollar' option.

Naming on the eighth day is biblical. Circumcision too. Check your bible.

Ajujuju2:

Im Igbo and catholic too... DH is pentecostal but was born in an Anglican family. So sometimes there is a mix of beliefs. Lol. For my first there really wasnt any such thing as naming day but we started praying from day1.

For my second i stayed with my cousin who goes to redeem and their pastor made it a point of duty to come on the eight day.

Whats d point od naming ceremonies if not PRAYER??

Igbos? No we don't. Except the pentecostal ones that picked it up from church norms.

Well, I'm Igbo born into Anglican Church Communion and I can authoritatively say that we do. All of us were named on the 8th day but in our living room. No party, no food, no drinks, no music just some prayers but on the 3rd month, the baby is taken to church for baptism and christening and the party takes place after the service for those who want to have a party.

Thank you all for the responses on the naming ceremony topic, I learnt alot. grin

DH and I had the discussion and he wants naming ceremony a week after our return from US and child dedication in Nigeria.... Baptism in US or Nigeria, whichever is less stressful.

I had the shaving hair debate with someone, and I learnt it's not compulsory it's just sunnah. So basically it's your choice but we being we we our parents no go gree.

Good morning lovely people,
please I need detailed advice, I intend to give birth in the US, though I don't hv visa yet. Hubby's own is expired and he has applied for renewal via Dropbox. I hv 2 kids already and we are trying to get visa for myself as well as my kids and d interview date we got is sometime in August and I am due for delivery in November. I have letter of correspondence from doctor already. And hubby has over N15m in his acct, wic I belive can cover all our bills. I am currently self employed.
Please what are our chances?, also giving dt hubby renewed tru Dropbox does it hv any negative impact?
What other documents do I need to boost our chances?
