Hi Joy,
I already applied for the PHRi exam on line but I am yet to get the venue for the Paper based test in Lagos. The nearest location I saw on the prometrics link is Ghana, for CBT which is not an option for me because of all the costs involved in travelling all the way.
Kindly advice on how I could request to have my PBT test in Lagos.

@xmasgift HRCI have centers that they use for exams in Lagos Nigeria maybe they not finalized arrangement of the centers to be used for the September exams but mostly likely by the end of this month the details of the center will be communicated via mail. The aim of this guide is to equip students with some practical strategies for answering and handling tricky HRCi exam questions. The language of the PHRi or SPHRi exam can sometimes lead to confusion about what the question is really asking. Try these techniques when you encounter a question with difficult or confusing wording:

Translate the question into your own words. Example;

B. Insufficient data and possibility of poor job match

C. More legally defensible than the job-content evaluation because it relies on survey data

Please rephrase the question for better understanding; Which of the following is a disadvantage of the market-based job evaluation method? It is externally competitive – this is an advantage, so option A is not correct. The market based job evaluation method is less legally defensible unlike the job-content- option C is not correct. The market-based job evaluation method is an objective basis for negotiating salary with employees, so option D is not correct. Option B- obtaining salary information could be very difficult especially in growing economy and there is also the possibility of job mismatch- Option B is a disadvantage of the market-based job evaluation and the correct answer

If you have difficulty selecting an answer try checking the options to see if you can detect the knowledge area the question is testing this will also help to choose the right answer

2. As an HR personnel , you have been given the assignment to organize a company’s event. Which of the following would you consider first?

A. Company policy on events

All the option in this question looks correct but by understanding the knowledge area the question is testing it would be easier to select the right question. In this case the question is on health, safety and security and as far as that knowledge area is considered when organizing a company event the first thing to consider is safety- safety first!

Watch out for distractors — bits of information that might distract you from the real purpose of the question. As you read the stem, cross out the distractors and underline the key points to help you maintain focus

3.Which of the following is an advantage of work/like balance to the employer?

A. Improved self esteem

B. Reduced absenteeism

C. Increased job satisfaction

D. More involved in family bounding

3.The correct answer is option B Please note that the question did not state – Which of the following is an advantage of work/life balance to the employee, any of options A, C or D would have been the answer in that case rather the question states- Which of the following is an advantage of work/life balance to the employer.
